The US Open is the final Grand Slam of the year and takes place at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. The 2021 US Open saw Russia's Daniil Medvedev and Great Britain's Emma Raducanu claim the men's and women's singles titles. It was both players' first major title, with 18-year-old Raducanu becoming the first-ever qualifier to achieve the feat. The 2022 US Open main draw is scheduled to go ahead between August 30 - September 11.

  • The greatest part about the story of the Williams sisters isn’t their trophies or medals, it’s their love for each other. Two of the greatest athletes!

  • As racist and nasty as that 2001 US Open crowd was to Venus in that semifinal, she still spoke well of Jennifer when she had zero obligation to do so. Venus has been such an amazing example of class and integrity in women’s tennis, and for American society as a whole. These two women changed the world in more ways than just tennis. 👸🏾👸🏾🎾🙏🏾😃❤️

    • Look at the match against Clijsters at the 2009 US Open 4 round the crowd was cheering for Clijsters. Can you imagine playing in your home grand slam and the crowd cheering for a player from a different country. Racism to me

      @marfu1119@marfu11192 жыл бұрын
    • Absolutely. Those racist, I wonder where they are hiding now, probably in their little holes.

    • America was very mean to them when they started. America never likes to own their current racism. Thirty years from now, they’ll say, yes it was racist back then, but let’s forget about that, and move on to the future! But they said the same with Mohammed Ali. They said, yes America was racist thirty years ago in the 60s, but when the 1980s arrived, they liked Ali, and said the country was wrong and racist back then, but let’s move on. They always wait 20/30 years before they acknowledge their racism. So we never get to deal with it properly in real time. That’s why it never gets fixed. That’s the way they’re still in denial about saying Serena is the best tennis player ever, and she was born and bred American, but they much rather say others who weren’t born in America and didn’t accomplish as much as Serena, are supposedly better. Who would believe Americans said the same about Blacks playing football and basketball, as they didn’t think they could play as well as Whites. Same with Serena, it’s hard for them to accept a Black woman was the best Player in a sport they considered set aside for Whites. So in 30 years, their grandkids will say, y’all actually thought Serena who had that many Olympic Gold medals, Singles titles, Doubles titles, and No 1 rankings wasn’t considered the best by y’all! That’s like pulling teeth!

  • Despite, the lack of MAJOR support early-on from her own countrymen, the lack of lucrative corporate sponsorship offers early-on, the most discouraging of difficulty imposed from those involved in/with the Tennis industry - on & off the court.. SERENA & VENUS, EXCELLED! Against all odds: racism, misogyny, unequal drug testing harrassment, biased criticisms, body shaming, unequal sponsorship offers, bigoted press headlines, etc.. whilst, also forcing other players to consistently raise their game levels of power, increased ball speed, strategical tactics and logistical ball placements. SERENA & VENUS, EXCELLED! Serena & Venus are "the true essence of the impossible - achieving what is possible".. ~Will Smith We are all eye-witnessing real-time, TENNIS LEGENDS! ❤🎾👸

    • Lack of lucrative sponsorships 😂😂😂😂. I remember back in 2001 Forbes estimated Serena made $7 million while Hingis made $5 million. Despite the fact Serena only won 1 gs by then never became world no 1 at that point while Hingis won 5 GS and already been no 1 for 200 weeks. By 2004 Serena Williams received the biggest sponsorship deals from Nike at $40 million which is the highest paid ever in tennis history for men or women at that time.

    • @@AdyHh-up9ez Exactly. I remember the hype they got when they first played pro. It was bigger than Davenport & Hingis who were already Grand Slam champions and world no 1. They received far more sponsprship than those 2 received even before they were world no 1. Being black & sisters helped them a lot because the media always hype them up with the 2 black sisters from compton making it all the way to the top narratives. If anything being black helps them. Lol.

  • How prophetic when Serena said, You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet”, back in 2001, and she was right! Having won 2 Gold Medals, Doubles Champions several times, and 23 Single Grand Slams, and No. 1 for over a hundred weeks, there’s nobody in tennis that tops that record, even her haters have to be honest about that! The GOAT!! 😀

A lot of black fokes turned in because or the drama and the camaraderies you bought to the sport. The majority of blacks watch it because of you both. Black don't really watch tennis. Thanks for introducing us to the sport.
