  • This is a 12s8p [that is, ns=12 slots and np=8 poles] BLDC motor with (ABC)^4 winding. That’s generally a pretty good choice. 12s10p or 12s14p, with dLRK winding [that is, AabBCcaABbcC], would work even better, with more cogging steps c per revolution, with c=60 or 84 instead of 24, for smoother operation, and a higher fundamental winding factor kw1, with kw1=0.933 instead of 0.866, for more efficiency. You can easily build this two designs as alternatives, if you can find skinnier permanent magnets, or if use a slightly larger diameter shaft... It would be interesting for the authors of this video, who are clearly a very capable builders, to build all three configurations and quantify the torque output of all three using the same BLDC controller circuit. Pretty sure 12s10p or 12s14p dLRK winding would be quite preferable to 12s8p with (ABC)^4 winding.

  • Wow Very Nice. Some years ago I was very much into Rc and Brushless motors and building them , And I got this idea to Combine the Inrunner and Outrunner together. That would mean what you have build with a Belt and magnets on top of all that which is attached to the shaft. I wrote about that In rcgroups and I have to say I got cold feet because they ment that I would need a different kind of ESC since there are two motors ( Inrunner and outrunner combined together) and I really did not know how to build such a Esc. But now that I am thinking maybe one can get away with it with using just one. I would love to see you build that. If you do good luck with it and think of the extended power that you can get out of such a motor. Oh ( sry my english )

    • This is not an asynchronous motor with a short armature, but with a Chinese magnetic rotor with the corresponding number of S and N poles. With a well-controlled regulator, you get any speed. You will achieve good torque if the rotor is made as an outer "magnetic casing" - a motor impeller.

As for as I understand this motor will melt/malfunction within few minutes due to heat produced during spinning. Glass melts or break when heated. Elphy used also melts down due to heat. So, Its OK for learning purpose but not OK for and physical use... Am I right? or I need some correction's ???? Waiting for your comments pls!
