This week at the chateau, we start to see the cottage kitchen come together. Tony starts by fitting the wall lights and radiators, rob cleans all the units down and restores the top of the dresser with amazing results, Tony pieces together the mirror surround, and the family come together to get the beautiful dresser in place.

About us,
We are a family from the North-East of England following our dream to restore a beautiful abandoned french Château. We discovered the heart stopping Château De Lalacelle in summer of 2020, this beautiful architectural monument Is set in the countryside of North-West France.
The moment we visited the Château we all fell in love, from the beautiful sweeping landscape and forests, to its stunning untouched interiors and magnificent spiral staircase in the turret.
Unfortunately Château De Lalacelle has been abandoned for a number of decades so will need a lot of restoration and DIY.

You’ve been so very lucky having your helpers. As a fellow Geordie we normally like to do things for ourselves, but having help from Rob must have been such a blessing because woodworking and carpentry in definitely in his soul. Because he seems to talk to the wood and brings it to life. Awesome skills. He did and amazing job on the cabinets and dresser. Wow!
That is perfect for the place. That is what I expect to see in an old house or a chateu: an apparent wood counter and wood forniture. When I see ultramodern kitchens in chateaux I feel like watching my 80 year old grandma in niniskirts.

Tracy, I’m so happy your kitchen is finally coming together. You will so enjoy cooking for your brood, sitting down and having tea with your friends who come to visit, and making this room the hub of family life. Although Terry and Asher will be at the Chateau, I see them coming over for breakfast to see their mom, dad, and Johnathan on occasion. And, of course, Patrick has to see his cousins.

That is one heck of a dresser...superb. and the placing of the mirrors either side is just right...you will be able to see how just you look having produced supper for the masses after painting the ceilings and dug a few trenches. Brilliant Tracy!

The kitchen is superlative. The green tone of the walls sets off the stain of the kitchen cabinets. Simply wonderful. If you can, I would paint the radiators a tan or tan taupe color. The white is a bit too stark and draws your eyes to them. The neutral color will fit in better with the cabinets.
Wow! I'm having kitchen envy!! That dresser is just amazing, exactly the sort I'd have (if I had a big enough kitchen!) it's just such a statement piece! Not far off the finish line for the whole cottage, everything is coming together so well. Can't wait to see the finishd room!

Waco, Texas here. I'm learning so much from this channel. Wish Rob would share more staining and protecting secrets. I've always used tung oil, but am planning on trying wax.
