  • Detroit fan here. I watched Vinnie hit the shot for the back to back. I watched MJ own the Pistons for half a decade. I watched Ben change the course of Shaq's career in 5 games. I dont think I've ever seen such dominance from end to end for such an extended period of time. This Detroit squad was only a couple season removed from putting up the most statistically dominate defensive stretch in NBA history. Absolutely thrilling.

In old days, they just couldn't shoot but got up tons of good looks, just sucked. 80s and 90s were far more physical but the Flagrant rule changes helping offense and restrictions on handchecking came in the 90s not the 2000s. 2002 when they removed the illegal defense call is when league went into Hall of Fame difficulty for a few years. • Became a fan of basketball in the late 90s, huge kings fan. When I started seeing highlights of high school LeBron James around late 2001, early 2002, I knew he was special even as a little kid. Followed him closely reading the sports illustrated issue with him on it because my older brother had a subscription. When they started televising his games and showing him in tournament games and exhibition games I knew then he was the one. From the moment he was drafted up until this game I was expecting nothing but greatness from him. watching this game live as a 13 year old, just felt like confirmation of my admiration of LeBron. Then his stretch from 2008-2010 cemented him as a top 5 player all time in my eyes. 2011-2014 put him top 2. 2015-2018 just about even with Jordan. 2019-2023 stayed on par with Jordan, has the chance to eclipse Jordan totally in my eyes. Mind you as a child and teen I've had the privilege of studying most of the all time legends because my uncle had tons of games recorded from the 80s and 90s and I would watch entire playoff runs of certain stars including Jordan. So with that being said Jordan is 1A LeBron is 1B rn. We'll see how it pans out though.
