In MLB if a manager of either team has a problem with the officiating and feels there was a call blown against them that they feel could effect the outcome of the game, they have the ability to call a "Protest". The game continues as normal, however, MLB will review the game and make a ruling. Virtually no protest has ever resulted in an overturn, despite how bad the call was.

The tar is only allowed to go up so far from the bottom of the bat. They use the width of the plate to measure from the bottom of the bat. If the tar is higher on the bat than the width of the plate, the bat is not approved for play.

How many of those bad calls cost teams games? Time to make the Fast Trac call balls and strikes. Umps only get to call plays at the bases with replay because they miss so many.
