    • Then they can't act as suspension though?

      @lowside67@lowside672 жыл бұрын
    • The airbag is part of the suspension. It absorbs the bounces and dips in the road. if you put in a pin in it it would be too rigid which could possibly cause the frame to bend or twists or welds to fail every time he hit a bump in the road

  • Awesome build man! If I can make a suggestion, put a leveling valve on the trailer for the airbags. This way the trailer always rides at the right level so you’re not over extending the bags

    @adammcrunnel9901@adammcrunnel99012 жыл бұрын
    • Yes a leveling valve is really must have item as it adjusts to changing loads automatically. Also a travel limiting device. A strap or shock.

  • Just so you know, you can just buy axle stubs and brake kits. I work at a truck store, they're very very cheap. Also makes a great axle pivot since any trailer or truck shop or even Walmart would have replacement bearings if ever needed

    • What's the advantage of bushings in this situation? I can see cost and easy of manufacture being two, but what would the others be.

      @andyvoytko@andyvoytko2 жыл бұрын
    • @@andyvoytko heavily generalized bushings are good for high load and low RPM. The balls in a ball bearing can wear in into the seat but the bushings do not like a lot of rotation constantly. That is the trade-off I have heard.

      @dennisolsson3119@dennisolsson31192 жыл бұрын
    • I'm my 15+ years of machine designing I always used bushing for low RPM and high loads and bearing in the opposite situation. For the trailer, since there's no real rotation, ball bearings will have the tendency to spot, so bushing was a no brainer for me. BUT, we all have to be carefull, they are develloping new materials and now some bushing are really perfortmant for rotation. I used brass-graphite flanged bushings in some thigh space application, where they are in constant rotation and I know, from refurbishing these machines years later, that they hold up to the taks!

If you live in an area with rain, snow, sleet, road salt, ( judging by your mini van, you do ) be ready for that nice paint job to turn to brown rust. You skipped the necessary step of having the frame completely sand blasted before PRIMING and finish coats. Ask me how I know. You have a beautiful family and a great sense of humor. I feel totally compelled to subscribe now. Thanks for the video.

It's more important for the motion of both the "wheel arm" and the airback to be perfectly alined to get the best result, right? Or am I wrong? I build leaf slrung trailers daily and have been looking to build a personal bagged trailer for my track car Its interesting to see it from an engineer standpoint, my biggest question though is if you checked spindle to center point of coupler measurement at the end of this all, you cam build a trailer out of square, but that measurement is most important, as well as a certain degree of positive camber for material deflection vs load capacity

    @BBBILLY86@BBBILLY862 жыл бұрын
    • First, when load and unload anything, I used the trailer's jack at the front of the tongue, otherwise pretty much of all of the weight of the trailer and the load will be transfert to the hitch, then once it's lifted up, it's just like a normal trailer, so you need to balance your weight to be just a bit tongue heavy! • Very cool DIY trailer!!! I hope that he will withstand the weight of the car and will be able to move normally. He just jumped too easily under the human weight. Maybe there is not enough pressure in the pillows? P.S. the video quality is at its height, so do not give up and keep shooting, I think you will soon grow into a big channel

    • @@VinyB57 Well, you got one more today. I watched your "compressed" Smart Hayabusa video, and now this car trailer with the air bags. A little bitty thing like that Smart car has a pretty good chance of getting flattened in the area where I live. There are too many semi's pulling doubles loaded with hay on the narrow country roads. That trailer though, that's a great idea. I've hauled a bunch of race cars over the years and it's always a pain. By definition, the race cars are really low and the transition off the trailer is always trouble. I don't know why that idea didn't come along years ago!! 👍

  • You do very nice work (for a noob). Realy. Wonder if your camber and toe change much when it is fully loaded and the axles are under stress.

  • Viny, I have send you two links that you might find useful and make another video on the trailer 😂😂🇷🇺. With the hitch modification you may get a little bit more ground clearance at the rear end and will also level the trailer when towing.🇿🇦🇦🇺🇬🇪🇷🇺🇷🇺🇷🇺🇷🇺
