A few years ago Ronnie came to El Paso, TX, visiting a GNC shop. There were so many people there getting things signed by Ronnie. He stayed till the last person. Thanks Ronnie.
Bruh fr which one??
He did the same thing here in Melbourne, Australia at a supp shop local to me back in 2013. Super nice man.
el Paso - Bolivia?!
@@szerelem5740 no he said El Paso Texas. He probably would come to El Paso Bolivia if he knew you guys are into bodybuilding.
@@dangrimes5078 yeah after I searched El Paso and i found out that it is in Texas lol
The 12 reps with the 200lb dumbells, and not a spotter in sight, is still the most impressive feat I have ever seen.
That’s the point of using dumbbells. You won’t need a spotter.
@@kiuk_kiks lol no you can still use a spotter for dumbbells
@@ziontheman637 Yeah, to cheat on your reps and do weight you have no business touching.

Not to cheat reps but to do forced reps at the end.
My brother and I worked out at Metroflex in 92-94. Ronnie was cool to everyone and we pretty much stayed out of his way! Crazy huge dude
I wasn't workout at a gym in 92-94
Haha Steroids
@@deberk462 dont hate on a legend kick rocks 🪨
@@deberk462 with all the steroids in the world, you still wouldn't look like Ronnie. The man had elite genetics, an amazing work ethic, and ate like a horse. Have you ever seen Ronnie before he started using PEDs? Again, even with all the drugs in the world you wouldn't even come close to looking like Ronnie Coleman when he was still natural. 95% of the people out there who are juicing, don't even look like it. Steroids aren't some magical nectar that automatically turn you into 8x Mr. Olympia, get real.
@@deberk462 even if you use steroids that he used, you wont be able to lift anywhere near what he can lift under that juice. Donkey.
Wide grip-bottom half reps, no lockout at the top to rest, heavy ass bench press, that shit must've felt like 600lbs. Ron is KING
The King does 10reps easy with 180kg,i wonder what his 1RM was, i would think like 270kg at least
@@maticcro5992 i think so too. Because the 10 reps can probably go to 15
Full reps are more difficult. Unless you have triceps like Levrone. Arguably even stronger than Coleman. And let's not forget Stan the rhino...
@maticcro5992 yeah I was thinking the same, by the time he did the 5 reps at 500lb, he had done multiple sets. Crazy strength
@@Hammerhead1986 Yeah, that's what's impressive. The sets before hand. He then went to incline after all those tough sets on flat and hit 405 for 8. Such a beast. I think this was the year where he was the freakiest ever. 2003 where he was around 300 pounds completely shredded and huge with no body fat.
Unquestionably the greatest bodybuilder ever. Gave his body to the sport. We may never see his equal again.

You're forgetting about Lee Haney. He was also incredible. Maybe not as strong as Ronnie, but still amazing. Moreover, he retained his health (from what I know--the guy still looks amazing) whereas Ronnie destroyed his. The GOAT of all Goats!
Can we take a moment to appreciate how perfect was the execution of the 200lbs dumbbell bench press? He was insane...
I haven’t found a more impressive feat yet. Feel like that set should be getting way more attention.
@@prAna530 Well there are definitely more impressive feats in lifting, but it depends on the person and what kind of things impress you. Some like one rep maxes, others like rep work. Some prefer barbell work, some powerlifting, others just regular lifts. To me it's a combination of everything. Everyone's different. You specifically should watch Larry Wheels do the 200's on incline a few years ago with NDO. He hits it for 12 very very clean reps with good control. That likely would be the most impressive feat to you. It blows Ronnies out of the water. Incline bench is considerably harder. 20%-25% harder on average. Ronnies a beast, but I wanted to find something that would impress you specifically more. I knew I would, since there are many guys stronger than Ronnie.
I have noticed one thing, in most of his videos he is not training in expansive and fancy gyms. Yet he was king ✌✌✌
That is very common for BB and powerlifters. Fancy gyms are for soccer moms

Fr fucking beast
@@jean-marcsanmarco6842 he ruined himself. He's crippled and probably will not have a long lifespan. I guess that we all have our choices to make on how we live our lives. 40 years of hard training has taken its toll on me. I've done 2 cycles of steroids in my life that were 6 weeks long each. That was in my early 20s. I train hard because of the pure love of the sport. I competed in drug free powerlifting in my 30s in the ADFPF powerlifting federation. Nowadays its all about cardio, higher reps, and core. I'm beat up and have had 1 back surgery and have had other injuries along the way. Heavyweights end up wrecking your body!!!!! You can gain nice size by utilizing various bodybuilding principles, proper nutrition and rest, and staying away from the drugs. I guess I prefer to weightlift and be involved in fitness till I die. Good luck 👍

What a beast! There will never be another one. We also learned, as you age, you have to take care of your joints. Watching Ronnie suffer through the injuries brings a tear to my eye. Ronnie wasn't just a bodybuilder icon, but he is a gracious man who loves his fans.
Pain is worth greatness cause it lasts forever 🙏
@@miket-tr2je It might have been worth it, and he was going to have some to get where he was, but it wasn't necessary to the extent it happened. He definitely could have achieved it without being crippled today if he went about it differently. That said, it sucks but it's not worth thinking about for him.
That started when he was young. He admitted to never seeing a doctor, and even said he would have to collapse before he saw a doctor. He was in severe severe pain all over his body and back for years, but still forcing himself to go real heavy on deadlifts and squats. He said at the end he could barely walk in the gym. That's when he went to the doctor and needed his first surgery, and he was still was relatively young then. That compounded on many others. The doctors messed up, and Ronnie continued being stubborn for years, and 15 surgeries plus is the result. Unfortunately he had some bad luck for it to get that bad though. Lifting heavy is actually good for the body as we age, but one rep maxes do us no good. We have to be smart about going heavy.
WHAT A LEGEND!!!!! Love Ronnie.

Nothing gets me more pumped than watching a video of Ronnie on an old bench with iron plates bumping DMX in the background. Gyms like Metroflex are a national treasure.
Going up in weight while going up in reps, that’s some legendary shit!!!
No, it’s merely pyramiding, a routine part of BB training.
@@Virvum_Juggernaut I never understood why ronnie used barbells for chest.
@@mikakoivisto6504 it gives good pump
@@mikakoivisto6504 He did both of course but they have their own purposes. Dumbells focuses solely on the pecs more than the bar but the bar activates the triceps simultaneously and doing decline/incline bench with the bar works the lower/upper pecs as opposed to the center pec. Easier to control that much weight in decline on the bar than with 200 lb dumbells.
@@steez5769 Yeah I know Ronnie said that barbell was never necessary to do and that he got all the development and muscle needed from dumbbells, but he liked the exercise he said since he was from a powerlifting background.

Franco Columbu
@@edgrimley3481 In terms of bodyweight to weight lifted ratio Franco is probably stronger, but Ronnie is stronger in absolute terms
And being 5'11/6'0 makes it even more impressive. I'd put an asterisk next to Franco because he's short (5'6 on a good day) therefore had plenty of leverage. Must be awesome when you don't have that far to push or pull. But Ronnie was strong in all 3 basic lifts. Johnnie Jackson had a great squat and a tremendous deadlift but he lacked in the bench press. Levrone wasnt too shabby in the squat and bench either.
