  • So I’m 15 right now, ever since I watched Iron man I’ve been like really fascinated with this type of stuff. Like it’s something I enjoy doing. So there’s a lake nearby my house and some people say there are alligators and all there, so i could use XIAO ESP32S3 for my submarine that I’ll make since it’s wifi enabled and has an SD option, I could explore and map the whole lake and shoot videos. I would include revival system for my submarine Incase it goes out of range and much more. maybe I would find an alligator or something interesting or maybe some treasure! But to be honest I don’t really know much about electronics or programming and all this, like with school I barely get time to actually have an understanding of this which would be so cool since I would be able to make anything I want. But as of now, I’m just a kid who wants to build cool stuff but doesn’t know how to. It would be really kind of u if u can tell me how u started with all this and learnt it. Thank you so much for reading this, I really like your videos and hope to see more coool projects!

With the Xiao esp camera, I would add video surveilance of my house to another project I'm currently working on, a circular TFT screen that sits on my desk, and shows general information, like a clock, what my spotify is doing, and upcoming events in my google calendar. And since the car will only be able to drive forward, you can just remove the IC, and control the motor with analogWrite(); function, and even more space for battery!

  • Great work! I would love to have more Xiao ESP32-S3 Sense boards to build a sensor network with camera capabilities for monitoring plants. I have already made one using LoRa boards, which had several sensors connected. However, I believe that the small size and lower power consumption of the Xiao ESP32-S3 are more suitable for this type of project. Additionally, having a camera would allow me to analyze the data and also see how the plant is doing under those conditions. The idea is to help local producers by offering an affordable monitoring system.

  • I wonder how much footage (video) you made, and what was left in the end! You managed to make a very nice video out of it, very relaxing to watch at. With the XIAO ESP32S3 my idea would be to build a motion detector. It would go outside my house, hidden. Reason for this is that from time to time we get visitors (surely cats, but I also suspect dogs) who do their heavy job in front of our door. I tried using an old phone and an app, but I only got some vague shots. Perhaps I.R. light is part of the solution, I am not sure if that cam module can use I.R. light, but I expect it can.

    @deslomeslager@deslomeslager8 ай бұрын

  • For the directional slider, I think it would be nice to give it a joystick behaviour, since its html and css, you could just make the function of adding the slider value to the endpoint to be called when the joystick is being hold. When it reads the "MouseUp" function, the slider goes back to 0 (maybe it needs to do it smoothly, idk if making it instantly go to 0 will work well). Like that it will feel more like a real controller, that is more intuitive. Could also do it for the forward and backwards slider, but I guess its not that needed.

  • When making a 1S2P battery pack, there's some important safety concerns. Lithium polymer batteries are safe when handled correctly, but if mistreated they will turn into flamethrowers. *This is not a joke, lithium fires are dangerous!* Both cells must first be charged to the same voltage, preferably storage voltage! Otherwise the cell with a higher voltage can pass way too much current into the other cell, resulting in both cells catching fire! The cells must also have a very closely matched capacity. This is important! If not closely matched, one cell can over discharge. _This damages the cell._ When constructed properly, you have a 1S2P battery with double the capacity. *If you're unsure about any of this, just buy a pre-made battery.* It does not have to be a parallel pack, just look at the capacity and dimensions. I would also highly recommend adding a protection board to the battery. LiPo batteries _should never be discharged to zero._ Doing so will render the battery dead. Just connect the protection board and it takes care of charging and discharging protection. You can charge the battery by supplying 5V directly to the protection board. Make sure the protection board can handle 5V charging voltage! If not, use a 1S LiPo charger like in the video instead.

    @PunakiviAddikti@PunakiviAddikti7 ай бұрын
    • You're so right... I just changed out the parallel pack for a singular one (3.7V 100mAh) it should be safe now. Using a separate charger with the right charging settings works best for this car as I don't need to worry about it having its own BMS that would take up unnecessary space. The battery is only 1S and not 2S or above, so it should be fine. Cheers!

  • *Positive Learnings* 1. *Feasibility:* Demonstrated that it's possible to convert a Hot Wheels car into a functional FPV RC car, proving the concept is viable. 2. *Wi-Fi Control:* Successfully switched to Wi-Fi for control, solving the issue of limited I/O pins, and enabling both control and FPV feed. 3. *Compact Design:* Managed to fit all the necessary components, including a camera and control circuitry, into a very small form factor. 4. *Resourcefulness:* Utilized various DIY techniques and materials, showing that the project can be done without specialized parts. 5. *Battery Integration:* Successfully integrated a battery that could be charged in about an hour, making the car relatively easy to use. 6. *LED Headlights:* Added functional LED headlights, enhancing the car's features and aesthetic appeal. 7. *Steering Mechanism:* Implemented a working steering system using a 1.5-gram ultra-micro digital servo. *Negative Learnings* 1. *Bi-Directional Control:* Failed to implement a bi-directional motor driver, limiting the car to forward-only movement. 2. *Component Compatibility:* Initial choice of NRF24 transceiver was incompatible due to I/O pin limitations, leading to wasted time. 3. *Programming Challenges:* Faced difficulties in combining two different codes for control and camera, requiring a workaround. 4. *Motor Torque:* The motor had surprisingly low torque during testing, which could limit the car's performance. 5. *Servo Issues:* The steering servo had issues with getting stuck, requiring additional modifications. 6. *Antenna Limitation:* The control range was limited to 10-20 meters, restricting the car's usability to small spaces. 7. *FPV Experience:* Could only achieve a half-split screen for FPV, limiting the immersive experience. *Building the Car* - Starts with a Hot Wheels car as the base. - Uses a tiny motor from an old 9-gram servo for the drive. - Modifies the motor to have a dual shaft. - Soldering nickel strips to attach the motor to the car base. - Creates clamp-shaped hinge pieces for the front wheels. - Uses 1.5mm metal tubes for wheel axles. - Implements a 1.5-gram ultra-micro digital servo for steering. *Electronics and Programming* - Sponsors mention: TS-101 soldering iron from Miniware. - Uses Seed Studio's Xiao ESP32 S3 Sense for the FPV camera. - Initially tries NRF24 transceiver but switches due to I/O pin limitations. - Switches to Wi-Fi control using code from GitHub. - Uses a different Wi-Fi microprocessor chip for control. - Creates an H-bridge transistor motor driver. - Reprograms the chip for forward-only driving. *Final Assembly and Testing* - Installs the battery and connects it through a switch. - Adds 3mm LEDs as headlights. - Uses foam to support the FPV camera. - Adds electrical tape for a tighter fit. - Weighs 45 grams in total. *FPV and Control* - Uses two different devices for control and FPV feed. - Uses old phone VR goggles for FPV. - Control range is around 10-20 meters. - Records FPV feed on a micro SD card. *Challenges and Future Improvements* - Encountered issues with bi-directional motor control. - Suggests improvements like a removable battery.

  • Amazing job! One thing to consider, the antennas you made if I'm not mistaken are just coaxial wire, which is basically the same as not having antenna at all. You need to leave the inner wire exposed 1/4 or 1/8 of wavelength of the frequency you are using.

    • Thank you, Andres! Big fan of you, I've been watching your amazing drone content since 2022! Okay. I would probably understand that better if I saw it. By any chance, could you send me a link to a video that shows that? Thanks

      @MaxImagination@MaxImagination6 ай бұрын
    • @@MaxImagination the antenna is made of two bits, the rectangular bit at the end is the actual antenna. The wire from the connector to the rectangle is coaxial wire, meaning it is a wire with a shield around it. Essentially there is a wire within a metal tube, the metal tube is grounded meaning the wire has less interference and doesn’t work like an antenna, same idea as metal shields around RF components, like the ESP32 modules themselves. Then when it gets to the end rectangle only the centre wire is connected to the actual antenna. Your solution likely worked because you probably soldered the shield to the antenna trace, essentially making the shield the antenna. Antennas are very complicated things, it isn’t advisable to just go cutting them up especially when you don’t know how they work.

  • If I had a XIAO ESP32S3 Sense, then I would make a Tiny Flight Controller my RC Plane to stabilise the plane during flight using an mpu6050, and also capture images during the flight from the sky. I would also add more sensors such as bmp180 for altitude measurement and transmit it or log it onto the board. Making the flight controller from the XIAO ESP32S3 Sense will prove very good due to its tiny size and less weight.

And You could've used an I2C port expander chip as well. I've previously built something similar with a regular old ESP32 cam module and in a slightly bigger car that was already equipped with a remote control. Used the single ESP32 for everything, including video streaming an control to great effect. Buliding it so small though is obviously much cooler.

I'd love to make a wearable glass out of its small form factor that can record the sign language of the person across from you and then transcript it into text so you can read it and talk back to him. According to me, the XIAO ESP32 S3 Sense is the ideal microcontroller for my project as its compaq size, low power consumption thus extremely suitable for smart glasses projects. My idea is to connect people who disabled in some aspects to the fast-developed community. I also think that XIAO community is really looking eager to a truly wearable device that utilize all the power of this tiny board.
