You won't guess what these are, but PLEASE try anyway😉
I had fun making this small production run, nothing special or difficult, its was just a time crunch..
But I did it faster and manage to film one being made. So at least you could see some skew work.
Hope you'll enjoy.

Beer tap handles
It reminds me of decorations on a Victorian house.
Well there Tom , subscribe to your channel last night - fine job you are doing - I like the way you show every one what an how you turn . Here in West Virginia at one time you could sell a lot of hand made things, it’s all most come to a full stop - I am a long time wood turner - changed an became a cooper, buckets, beer stines an all sizes of wash tubs - people just don’t buy the stuff anymore-also had to raise the price to pay for the wood - a board pine 8’ x 10” x 3/4 “ is now $ 45.00 -if you go to craft shows an sell - prices for a spot is so high -can’t make a profit to buy the wood an rent a spot to sell -watching you turn cool an good luck
Thanks for keeping some finished ones in view of the camera while you were turning. It is helpful for me to see the finished item and then see how you approach each step. Another excellent video. Thanks.
Thank you very much 😀
Stoppers for your magnum champagne bottles 😆
My first thought upon seeing the thumbnail was: Stamp handles! But while watching the video I was thinking, no way that stamp handles are so big! It seems they are... :)
My guess before watching, curtain rod ends. I could not have been more wrong! Nice skew work.
Thank you, those are similar to curtains rods end so not far off
Really nice production video. Thank you for sharing.
Love watching you work, so smooth!
Thank you very much
Very cool. Great stamp handles.
😊 Nice work! I never guessed what you were making! Farthest thing from my mind! Beautiful work!
Thank you
Hi Tomislav. Beautiful stamp handles (I never would have guessed that). 😊 awesome skew cuts and thanks for sharing. 😊😊👍💯
Thank You
Stamping for what purpose???? 😊
@@donnadees1971 these are sort of rewards for a specific fair show.... I'm not in those circles ,I only make these 😅
Would never have guessed that......but I can't imagine working in the shop without music playing also. 🎵🎶
Indeed, I need to have something, music, podcast, depends on the mood😉
I was getting a face full of shavings this morning and used my hand to block them the way you showed on video. It worked perfectly. Your instruction is full of little asides and comments that are SO helpful. Thank you!
Awsome to hear that ☺️
Nicely done! Great to see a master at work.
I'm far from master, I'll be Always student of the craft as James Krenov said😉 Thank you very much
Artist at work.
I have to watch because I don't know! Great video. Stamps, very nice.
I am truly amazed at your ability to turn your production run by eye and how fast you complete a turning. I was guessing draft beer handles at the golf course country club.
Thank you very much 😀
Here's my initial guesses in order: front knob for a hand plane, bottle stopper for a wine bottle, handle for a birdcage awl
Looks like slick handles
I guessed wrong! I once made similar shaped, but much smaller items for lamp designer who used them to hold the lamp shade to the lamp bridle. I really enjoyed this video. The rhythm of repetitive work is very relaxing... especially when there is music playing in the background. As I have told you before, watching you turn as a production turner is truly poetry in motion!
Thank you Richard,I really appriciate that
I would have guessed beer tap handles. I would have been wrong 😄. Great work as usual!
Thank you, good try
Nice skew work! Nice clean pine timber.
Thank you, its great looking pine, first grade
Guessed wrong, I thought they were ornate bungs for wine or sherry barrels maybe for a tourist area. Once made 40 similar ones, far less ornate though, for olive brining barrels. Nice skew work too, glad you managed to find the time to make the video.
Thank You sir
Another great video! And I had no clue. Knew what it _wasn't_, but otherwise . . .
Da*n, you make that look easy. I love using my skew, but almost always ruin the first couple of pieces until I get the hang of it again (I don't turn every day).
That's ok, with time and practice you won't mess up Wood anymore. Try at the end of the day turn something with skew, even if its just practicing cuts. Thank you very much for watching
The Master is doing his magic.
Beautiful work!
Thank you sir 😀
I guessed wrong I thought may be some sort of spindle top. Never would have guessed what they are. Great video.
Thank you sir
Didn't guess that right, but what a great thing! Thank you for sharing.
Thank you Rachel
As usual, another very interesting video. You certainly do receive a variety of projects which keeps your mind active, I'm sure.
They can be interesting for sure ☺️
Bed head posts but I was wrong a brilliant job to keep them so accurate
Thank you,its similar to bed post caps so you are not far off 🤗
Tap handles.
Very cool Tomislav. My guesses weren't even close. 🤷♂🤔😑😀 It's always a joy to watch your skew work and very instructive as well.
Thanks very much 🤗
These look like wine stoppers for large decanters?
My mom had food strainer an one of these wooden pieces to turn around inside strainer to push remaining food pulp through strainer holes.
Awesome work as usual! Nice to see someone turning pine, don't see that often.
I don't turn in a lot, this was specific for this job but it was nice change of pace regards wood☺️
Wine stoppers but it's wood so it may be for the barrels for plugs for future testing
Klasse Idee.super❤❤❤❤ von Peter Bring neue ideen❤❤❤❤ 4:53
Beer taps
I was thinking something goofy like a shifter know for manual transmission, but then I thought a tap handle for a bar. That would make more sense. I was wrong both times.
I haven't watch the video yet but, from the thumbnail, I'm going to guess either darning eggs for giants or finials for newel posts.
I thought they were finials too.
Very nice. I thought they looked like bottle stopers.
Nice video. I was impressed with your eye in determining the roundness of the ball and the overall diameter of the stems. I noticed that you have a curved grind on your skew chisel. Mine came with a straight diagonal bevel edge. What kind of grinding wheel and grit do you use to sharpen your chisels? It is impressive to see your polished surfaces on your finished pieces. Thank you for making videos to help out us novices.
Thank you sir, this video should be of help kzhead.info/sun/mLeApZSji5ail6s/bejne.htmlsi=A3MA5K9Y6toYCyMO Its 2 part video that I go really indepth on sharpening, and using skews
I make something similar for the deck drains on our local ferry that get these as a plug for said drains when fuelling the ship. In my case there is a hole bored the length for a small retaining rope that fixes to a retaining ring above the drain. The ring is sized to hold the plug when not in use.
That is interesting, its funny how all these object with totally different purpose often look similar ☺️ thanks for watching
Cool... Stamp handles.. I was thinking tap handles for a bar.
That would be my guess as well👍
I thought they were post toppers of some sort, would never have guessed that. Wow, the way you work with that skew is incredible! I have used mine 3 times, and three times destroyed my piece.
Thank you, well I bet the forth time skew will work for you😉
@@tomislavtomasicwoodturning Maybe 44th, I need to watch more of your videos
Keep on with the skew, don't try to make anything in particular at first, just practice the cuts. If you don't actually try and make anything, you won't get disheartened when you inevitably get a catch ! always ride the bevel etc etc
@@CrimeVid good advice, thank you.
Beer tap handle.
Well done Tomislav.
Herb spoons
Barrel bungs!
Curtainrod ends/decorations?
Big bottle stopper or coffee grinder.
Before this starts, I'm guessing bottle stoppers. I'm probably not right, of course. I never would have guessed it!
Thank you for trying😀 and for watching
Draft beer science pulls.?
Robert Sorby skew. You are amazing artist!
Thank you very much
My guess is bottle stopper.
Top job👏👍😎🇦🇺🐈⬛
Newell or post caps?
Looks like a handle for maybe some kitchen thing like a masher
I thought beer taps
Ail Handles.
Backwoods gape gauges?
Bottle tops
Wine barrel bung
It is plugs for wine barrels
Table lamp bases
I thought curtain rod finials, or a stair handrail end post topper decoration. I never would have guessed a pestle for a mortar & pestle. Oops! That's wrong too.
Превосходный глазомер.
A stopper for a perfume bottle of a giantess.
Bottle stoppers.
My boss had a set of these, he would polish them often.
Mine too but I think his were brass
Screwdriver handles
That is good idea, but a bit to big😉
Post Tops….finials.
Stair rail rungs.
What is it?
Curious if you were using a Bedan tool in this project?
Its more of beading and parting tool, bedan would be to my understanding single bevel narrow tool
Handles on a sailing ships helm. Haha
I like that one😉
Can you make a gavel with some design on it? I doubt you take requests, but I was just wondering.😊
You mean gavel like court judge hammer or? I do love ideas what people like to see being made
@tomislavtomasicwoodturning Yes, a gavel is the same thing.
I guess I don’t know what a “stamp handle” is?
What wood are you using? Fir or Hemlock?
This will be fir when I translate, we call it pine although its not😀
I may not have heard what you said it was. They look like a wig or hat stand.
They are big old school stamps🤗
Are they some kind of exaggerated stamper ? nice work there m8y
Correct ☺️, really big stamps😅
Beer tap handles
yoùve got a good(!!) eye man!
Thank You
Top of a knewl post?
Those are wooden objects.
I have a cheap chinese lathe,( 1 " square tubing frame, 4 speeds) that has very little rigidity. Would it be possible for me to do work like you do with such a poor machine? I was goung to mount a circular saw to it, and use a tracer mechanism. I dont want to invest in lathe tools and all that constant sharpening, id rather scrape everything with carbide inserts, that i could make myself. At 70 years old, my hand strength is not half what it was. Thank you for your time.
My husband upgraded my lathe for my 80th birthday and I’ve been using the ‘beast’ as my friend calls it for over 2 years. I have multiple physical problems but the hour or two spent most days at my lathe are fun. Don’t let a few years and a little weakness stand in your way. 😊 If you really need to cut every corner, those carbide bits can be sharpened a bit by laying them flat and rubbing them on a diamond hone.
P.S. my first lathe could only change speeds by shifting belt and had no reverse. I’m on my 3rd now. I used to have to buy wood to turn but once people find out you’re a wooodturner they bring you all sorts of wood to turn.
Well, ofcourse you can use that lathe and tools, nothing wrong with it as long as you use it safely, but be aware of that better more stable lathe will be more Pleasureble to use, also using tradicional tools will help you be more efficient with less effort, once you learn how to use it... Again, nothing wrong using your chinese lathe, but I think very soon you'll out grown it...🤗
Lovely to watch - that skew looks so sharp you could shave with it.
Thank you, its sharp enough 😅
WHAT ARE THEY?
Big stamps,as a gifts for winners on sort of a fair show
Look like handles for wax seals
So .......... what are these things?
Big stamps for rewards for one fair show
Did UK immigration order all those ? 😉
Hmm not sure I understand, 😅
I gussed wrong....thought they were they were fobannisters to stop sliding down on them😂
Good try nevertless😉
I have seen things like this in my club; are these wig stands for cancer patients who have lost their hair?
They could be for sure, but these are stamp bases
No, I did not guess. Just over a year ago, I was asked to make 12 stamp handles, for an artist. They looked like chess Pawns. And like you used a Story board, The whole piece was only 70mm long.
Awsome, glad to hear that, these will probably be done in several other sizes as well 😀
A stand for what?
They are old school stamps
Bed knobs.
Gag orders for DJT?
Well they're not broomsticks
Thats for sure 😂
