Tomislav, you've been a real inspiration for me as I dive into wood turning. I've been learning so much from your videos, and I just wanted to tell you how grateful I am for all the effort you put into making them. Many thanks!
Thank you Alex, appriciate your kind words of support 😀 Thank you for watching
I have to agree. I watch a lot of turning videos, but Tomislav's are the best to learn from. I love the designs too. Tomislav's skills are really up there. Something to aim for.
@@racheldray1057 Thank you soo much ☺️
That was a great demonstration on hiding the grain alignment
Thank you Brian, turn out quite good
Nice looking box! People ask me if I see the finished shape in the wood I am turning. I do, but most of the time the wood tells me what the shape will be. I think that happened here. Your real talent is seeing what the wood is showing you what to do! It's as good as your incredible tool control!
I’m a fairly new turner and I have found that I start with a general idea, but enjoy the turning more if I just let the piece “tell” me what it wants to be 🤠🇨🇱
Thank you Richard, appriciate that sir☺️
This is my first visit to your channel and what a joy it was. Your work is very reminiscent of Richard Raffan who I have followed for some time. Thank you Graham UK
Thank you Graham, Richard is my mentor so there are a lot similarities ☺️
One nice box. You have a good eye for design and attention to detail. Also, reminded me a bit of matryoshka.
Thank you, well that should be interesting to make😉
Lovely. Just love the gentle touch you have with the wood.
Thank you so much 🤗
Bonjour Tomislav. C'est trop beau ,une perfection,j'adore beaucoup votre travail ,de l'art.👍
Thank you very much 🤗
I love your work on the lathe. I love the wood you are working with, very beautiful grains in the wood.
Thank you 😀
Très belle réalisation, bravo 👍😊
What a nice Idea Tomi . I don’t sell my Stuff but i love to gift them to Friends and Family . I guess they all will get little Boxes 😅
I was thinking the same thing 🤠
Those should be awsome gifts and thank you for watching and comment 🤗
Tomislav another stunning piece, thanks for sharing buddy 👍👍
Thanks Will😉
As always, a very informative video full of tips and methods to help improve my turning skills 🤠🇨🇱
Thank you Randy, very kind words 😀
I really like that skew gouge. Never used one before but have seen you use it twice now. I love little end grain boxes. That's how I got started Well done!!
Thank you very much 🤗
That is a fantastic little box. I really like the little details you add, especially the bead you put on it to hide the misalignment of the 2 pieces. I am not very good with a skew, but it is amazing what someone who can use a skew can do with one.
Thank you very much, its just practice like with any other tool,
Nice work, that bead tip is a great idea, thanks.
Thank You for watching and comment 😀
Very nice box. Stunning grain pattern, expertly turned.
Thank you 🤗
Awesome video! I need to try some little boxes like this. Thanks as always for your great tutorials and inspiration.
Thank you sir, very kind of you☺️
First video from this guy that I've watched. I'm impressed with his knowledge and even more impressed that it appears that he still has all his fingers.
All fingers here , through woodworking and now turning....
A lovely little thing with a lovely grain and as always very informative. Thanks!
Thank you Joris
Very nice. I love all the information Thanks
I don't know exactly what you made this little wooden box for, but I know it's very interesting and neat for your work.😮
I made it just for video but now its on the way to United States ☺️ thank you for watching
@@tomislavtomasicwoodturning This is great, well done👏
Thank you for the video! I've noticed a small inaccuracy that I had to learn the hard way: don't fit the lid before you've hollowed the body. There might be some tension in the wood or is it because of the heat... but just yesterday I've spoiled couple of boxes in this way. I made a nice and tight tennon for the lid, hollowed the body and after that the lid became loose, like veeery loose...
That is good point, I always fit lids so its hard to put it on, that usually gives enough room to play, also roughing out blanks helps a lot
Hi Tomislav, at first I thought you were making a little snowman 😉 that’s a cute little box. I like the trick on how you camouflage the grain pattern with the bead. I learned a new trick today, thank you for that 👍Take care, Wayne
Glad to hear that Wayne, glad to pass on what I know 😀
So very cool! Thank you for all the great tips and tricks. And a really pretty little box.
Thank you sir 😀
🕶Very nice Tomislav. Thanks for the time and effort.
Thank you Steven, appriciate that ☺️
Great Job again Tomislav
Impressive! You make it look very easy. Thanks for the great video.
Lovely work Tomi. It looks like it needs a little face.😂
Thank you,yes indeed🤗
You take a tool that really frightens a lot of wood turners. Namely the skew and make it look so easy. To use the skew where most would use a roughing gouge shows your skill and I am really impressed. A great video that makes me want to keep practicing with the skew and hopefully become nearly as good as you. Overall a thing of beauty.
My advice for the skew is to just jump in and use it. That's what I did - I used only a roughing gouge and skew for the first few months I did woodturning. And yeah, I had a lot of catches and tore out a lot of wood, but since I was new and only using firewood as blanks it wasn't a big deal. Eventually you stop getting catches and you feel comfortable with it - to the point I'll reach for the skew over a gouge for most spindle operations. Honestly, the skew is such a versatile tool that it's a pity so many people are scared of it. Yeah, the catches freak you out and tear out good sized chunks of wood, but as long as you've got your shield on you're fine. Find a free source of blanks and it only costs you time and electricity. We just drive around after storms and find fallen branches and ask if we can haul them off. Cut 'em into spindle blanks, paint the ends and pile 'em up somewhere to dry for a year or so and you've got an endless supply of free wood for spindle projects.
Thank you very much, its like with anything else, just a practice.... I still have a lot to learn and willing to learn so I always try to do it better. Thank you very much for watching and comment
Very nice little box. I always appreciate the way you include enough detail to make it very interesting. You will have to let us know if the wood moves and how the fit stays over time. I find I always have to rough turn boxes, let them move and then finish them in a day or two. But that could be my really dry wood inventory.
Thank you Jay, its been around few weeks since I shot that video and box is like on day one..... I guess this juniper doesn't move much☺️
Fantastic work! I'm going to make a skew gouge for myself now, very cool! Thank you Tomislav
That's a nice wee thing, Thanks for posting,
Thank You for watching 🤗

Great video, brilliant treatment of the grain match with the bead!
Thank you,glad you liked it
Very cool! I always learn so much from you thank you!
Thank you for sharing. Have a great day and stay safe.🙂🙂
Thank you sir, all the best to you as well 😀
I don't wanna sound like the safety guy, however if that cloth grabs on the inside and bunches up around your finger in there your taking a risk. It's your finger to do with what you want, but it could severely injure you in an instant. All's well that ends well though. Nice box and turning demo.
Ljepo napravljen posao 👍
Hvala 👍
You are good with the skew. So fine @ work.
Thank you
Lovely little box.
Thank you Sir
The box looks great and am fascinated with the beauty of boxes, yet my practical side of me doesn’t see a use in many of them besides the artistry. I am making some now; I know I will be happy with them yet wonder if they are really desirable.
Cool little box! Thanks!!
Lovely piece!
Good job! Really nice box.
very nice. thank you for another video
I see you taking relatively aggressive planing cuts with the skew, how do you avoid splintering or blowing out the surface? Great job!
If the grain is align ok then it works great, but if I feel that its chattering or see chunks flying off then the grain isn't in line with the axis and I then do low peel cuts with skew
Lovely
Nice
Another great video, thanks.what was the oil that you put on
Thanks, it was Odie's oil, universal
You said that you liked the smell, just curious how does it compare to the red cedar ? I've never turned juniper, but plenty of cedar.
I would say , probably wrong but those two in some areas are the same, same wood different name... don't quote me on that but I know that here its similar situation
How much would you ask for a box like this?
What happened to your Regent lathe Tomas ?
I got smaller midi plus ll lathe on test so I sold regent.... In the mean time I got killinger lathe... I have a video in decembar of setup it
