Got this idea from @CraftSuppliesUSA , Great beginner project that sells fast and it has pretty much every cut that is on cross grain orientation.....
Hope you'll make one as well....
Enjoy

Beautiful work. The only thing missing now is Mr. Raffan’s colored sock. Thanks for all your video demos. They are truly inspiring. Jon.
Thank you Jon🤗 your words are inspiring to me.... And that sock should be in museum, since it can stand up on its own😂
nice work and not a word spoken, beautiful. I like the button details inside the lid and on the base, very neat idea.
Thank you very much 🤗
I saw the Mike Nish/Craft Supplies video as well.......yours is a beautiful interpretation of that idea. Love how you addressed the knob....very nice!
Thank you Lefty🤗 glad you liked it ☺️
Lovely work! Sir, you have the best tool control I have ever seen!
Thank you Anthony.... your support means a lot 😀
Definitely Richard Raffen and yourself are the best educators of wood turning on utube and thank you 😊 cheers Phil 🔨🪚👍
Thank you, glad to be of help.... Thanks for watching 🤗
No, Richard Raffen talks, speaks, instructs. Saying nothing definitely does not make you an educator.
Another lovely project.
Glad you liked it Anthony, thanks for watching 🤗
Beautiful work.
Thank you for watching 🤗
With every video, you continue to impress me. I know you have said in past videos that Mr Richard Raffan was your mentor. I’d bet Richard would say that you are certainly on his level of skill. Excellent as usual sir.
Thank you for binge watching my videos,I really do appriciate that sir....
Well done on tool control!
The beautiful sound of sharp tools!
Thank you sir
Very nice job Tomislav, thanks for sharing, Chris
Thank you Chris for support and watching 🤗
Nice box. I like the handle on the lid.
Thanks 🤗
I am also a great fan of Richard Raffan , but I thoroughly enjoyed your project. Well done. Paul
Thank you Paul, glad you liked it ☺️
Great job 👏
Thank you Gerry very much 🤗
Very good, love the handle on the lid, very unique.
Thank you very much 🤗
Great job
Thanks 🤗
WOW!! So glad you were not injured or nothing was damaged in the shop. Before you started, I thought that piece looked pretty solid. I will check the wood I put on the lathe more thoroughly now, seeing how that came apart so quickly. Thanks for sharing this important safety video! 👍🏾
No problem, thanks for watching 🤗
Well done!
Thank you very much 🤗
Wonderful work
Thank You very much 🤗
Nicely done Take care Cheers Harold
Thank you Harold 🤗
Very smooth with smooth techniques. Congratulations on your beautiful work. Said
Thank you Said very much.....👍
Pekná práca Tom... 👍👍👍👍✊✊✊✊✊✊
Thank you 😀
great job
Thank you 😉
Super svaki tvoj video... 👌👏👏
Hvala puno 🤗
great work
Thank you very much 😀
Wonderful! Is that wood what we in Texas know as sycamore? It appears to have a similar interlocking grain. The efficiency with which you shape a piece is on par with Richard Raffan. Very impressive.
I believe it is, or extreamlly similar....☺️ Richard is my mentor so a lot of similarities are present 😉 Thank you for support and watching 🤗
Recently got my first lathe, and I have been watching a couple of your videos. Great content :) How did the chuck hold the lid when you did the second side?
Congrats on the lathe, enjoy your time with it 🤗 I hold the lid by expanding into small ridge on inside☺️
Nice 😘
Thank you
I picked up a bunch of dry, air dried wood from a club member who is retiring and it seems to just turn different than the kiln dried wood I've been using for boxes. The kiln dried cherry I have been using tears out whenever I even think about scraping. But this cherry I got from the club turns like a dream and is shiny off of the tool. Am I insane or is this a known thing? Great little box by the way!
Thank you Matthew, no you are not insane, kiln dry stuff can be brittle, it had to do with forse drying..... I try to avoid if I can kiln dry wood as it does not work all that clean from tool..... With air drying, there is a longer drying time but well worth it....
Hello, I love this video very much and would like to try. Could you tell me what scraper are you using? I don't have it and don't want to buy the wrong one (especially regarding the grain orientation). Thanks!
How did you stick the wood on at the start?
I use screw chuck as much as I can ☺️
Very nice box you turned, what are you putting on with the rag
Thank you very much, its linseed oil and then beeswax on top, very nice and soft finish🤗
Is that oil you apply followed by the carnauba wax?
Yes it was, after just straight beeswax
If you can remember , What the moister count was on this, It seems that all my wood is too dry. Thanks
Around 8% give or take, what do you mean with that you have too dry wood?
Nice work on your channel. What would be cool is to identify each tool by grind angle etc in text on screen as you go. As well as finish. is that Bees Wax?
Thank you, helpfull suggestion 😀
Wonderful work. How do you keep your tools so clean? Thanks.
Thanks 😀 not sure what you mean with clean? did you mean sharp?
@tomislavtomasicwoodturning No'sir. They just always look clean, as in like you wipe them down each use or something. Do you wipe them with a denatured alcohol & rag. Sounds like a silly question, but mine just don't seem to remain as polished and bright looking as yours.
@@woodbutcherjc not silly question, I never clean them but I do use between sharpening a used 240grit sandpaper to polish a bit of flute near cutting edge.... You might use timbers that stick to metal more then others.... example is plum, atleast ones I have here likes to stick on gouges and its hard to clean....
@@tomislavtomasicwoodturning Thanks, I'm going to try that out. God bless.
Tomislav, I can not understand how you mount the piece on reverse at minute 8’26”. Is it by expansion with the jaws? Thanks ☺️
Yes Valentina, jaws expand on small recees inside the lid that looks like decoration ☺️
Whatever idea you got in the beginning, I wish you would have showed that better. Couldn't tell what you did. It was Too Fast
Конструкция крышки не очень, в паз будет попадать например сахар или соль и забивать его, вычистить его из паза проблематично, я это давно прошел , края вазы Клаб ровными а паз только в крышке, так практичнее, если вам интересно мое мнение
Thank you, most lid and boxes that are cross grain I do with everything on the lid, this one was a bit different 👍
What kind of wax is that block of wax that you apply to the piece? It looks darker than the beeswax that I am used to. Who is your supplier?
Not sure why is grey, I believe it has something with standing on a shelf...its a healthy food store that sells it here in Croatia 😀
Just a confirm, it is beeswax not carnuba wax correct?
@@tomhoffman8873 that is correct, just beeswax 😉
Superbe …gouges à profiler utilisés ? J aimerais mieux voir les gouges, et l affutage ..😮😮
Thank you 😀 I have video on sharpening as well
You know he is audio recording. You can hear the lathe and the tools cutting. Why can't he talk to us? Tell us what tools he is using.
Good one, try few videos after that as I do start to talk....
