Corsair Harpoon RBG Full Disassembly (for adding weights)

I disassembled a Corsair Harpoon as I was adding weights to it (it's a bit too light for fps gaming) so I decided to film it for anyone in the future wanting to do the same.
By the way I did add weights inside, I added 6 1p coins (each weigh 3.75g) which made the mouse weigh around 100g. In case you are curious, I had 2 stacks of 3 coins and each stack was wrapped in anti electric tape then placed in the casing.
Also the mouse is amazing now, it is a great mod to the mouse and I am getting so many more kills now in R6 Siege (I use KixSTAr's sensitivity options)
Thanks, helped me fix my mouse wheel.
How did you do it pls help
Thanks! Mouse wheel started to skip but it's all good now. Saved me a few bucks
good to hear bro!
Help pls how did you do it
you are my hero. i was serching it too and not thing froom the internet.you're the first one
np man, happy to hear it!
thanks man, helped me a lot.
Cool, if more weight suits you then good on you for modding it. I'll be taking mine apart to add a paracord since I think that's the only thing this mouse demands for fps gaming :).
damn, adding a paracord is pretty classy. Good luck with that dude
@@alexanderokak5112 the stock cable is garbage and really let's the mouse down. I'd say more necessary than classy but you do you
@@thedoodler882 it's really not necessary but I imagine it feels like a step down if you are used to having them on mice
@@thedoodler882 Hi, did you add the paracord?
Thanks - this video saved my mouse. The right button was not working - removed the back - cleaned it - put it back together and now as good as new. Only thing I'd suggest is to be careful how you remove the four sliding pads as they are actually each made up of an adhesive layer and a plastic sliding layer which can separate, making reassembly harder.
might I ask how you reassembled it correctly? The pillows now have sharp edges which makes the mouse raspy
@@evertaj2438 same. Did you find a solution? or are you using it without the pads?
@@peacemekka not really, I just manually pushed the pads back into place. At the start it will feel a bit raspy depending on how well you reapplied the pads and how carefully you removed them. Eventually the raspy feeling kind of just disappeared and it feels pretty smooth now.
@@evertaj2438 okay. Thanks. Hopefully I won't have to remove them.
OMG thank you I bought a refurbished unit for really cheap and when it arrived there was a piece of plastic rattling around.
No problem, at least this video helped someone!
Your pc in the background is fire!
dude thanks man!
Thanks man! You gave me crazy anxiety when you lost the screws! But your vid was super helpful. Hopefully the pads come off (and reapply) easily for me.
they reapply easily yep, just dont let them fall on the floor and get covered with gunk
How do you put back the lil pillows that cove the screws? Will the glug still work afterwards?
The adhesive is pretty good and will last a couple of removals. Each screw cover is also unique so they only fit into one of the four the indentations. I know you probably don't need this comment by now but I'm leaving this behind for other people who wanted to clean their mice like I did.
Thanks man! I had spilled Big Red on my mouse the other day and it started to get annoying with the left and right click getting soft but now it’s back to normal!!
glad to hear it man
same here, my left click started not working. I messed tea on it the other day. So will disassemble manana and see if there is a sticky switch or something
Thanks you helped me fix my middle mouse button not clicking!
I need help how did you do it
great video, but is there any way to only take the top panel off? (im thinking of wrapping it)
Top panel? I'm not sure exactly what you're referring to but to do any assembly or anything to this mouse without breaking stuff you have to first take off the screws at the bottom. Don't worry about the sticky pads, then can be really easily stuck back on without any noticeable difference.
@@alexanderokak5112 @ATL ARcTics i think hes talking about the stuff that you actually click and yeah just ram some pry tools and you can fix it.
how do i ad more ram to mouse. pls help sir
What kind of condition was the cable using
thank you sir, i just fixed it and dont hv to buy another mouse!
no problem! That's the reason I made this video. Happy I could help out.
Nice video tho. However can I follow this to clean the dust under the left click button ? I think some dust has gotten in there and it sometimes doesn't register a click
yes you absolutely can
Nice! I couldn't find anywhere that described how to take apart this mouse. My mods are a little different; I removed the clicker for the mouse wheel, and removed the RGB light on the back. My pads are a little bent out of shape when I reapplied them though. Tips?
I personally ditched the gliders completely but maybe try applying lots of force or summin. Glad to hear my video helped!
try get corepads
@@alexanderokak5112 how does it perform without the gliders? worse or the same? I also scratched one of the pads while removing them.
@@peacemekka the exact same from my experience, at least on a normal mousemat
What kind of screw did you use?
Good looking im gonna be adding a paracord to this mouse
Did the para cord work because I want to buy one
very useful thank you
Thanks i want to change the switch and check for the mouse wheel click sound issue
Mine kept double clicking, so i wanted to make sure the rubber feet were supposed to come off so i could take it apart and clean it. Thanks for the help.
yeah that was exactly why I made this video, I was paranoid asf about removing them back when I made this video
After you cleaned yours did the double clicking stop? Mines doing the same thing
Yo bro after u cleaning ur mouse. Ur mouse still double click ?
Did it stop double-clicking??
@@landocalrissian3704 was having this issue and just was inspired to blow in it really hard by this video. Seems to have cleared whatever dust was blocking the contacts and works much better now.
My scroll wheel is intermittently not working & sometimes going the opposite direction. I believe I have to take mne apart and possibly fix it by cleaning it.
Any way you can post the left switch part number ? Thanks in advance mate!
Just wondering what type of switch does that mouse had? Omron?
yup, omron
Thanks mate my rmb has been acting up
Thank god
Hey dude, I have this mouse and dismantled it to clean its parts, but can't put it back together. The left front side of the cover doesn't go all the way down, it leaves a gap of like 3 or 4mm and thus the left click won't work properly... I don't know what it is hitting, but I can't get it to fit well... Has that ever happened to you?
You probably got it fixed by now, but what might have happened is, that the cable, which connects the inside parts with the outer cable (the one which then goes to the USB and into the PC), is not in position anymore. It should be very tightly squeezed into a little "fork" (idk how to describe it better) on the bottom of the mouse to hold it in place. That was the thing that got me confused for a second, before I figured it out. Else try retightening the screws or maybe put a super-thin layer of glue to hold everything together and bridge the gap. If nothing of that helps I don't got anymore ideas but yeah
@@sirkellKept the mouse in a box and switched to a wireless office one which I hate, I was too lazy to try what you said but today I finally decided to give it a shot and it did work... Thank you
Hay, did u know how to change the switch for corsair harpoon ? thanks
no
is there anyone know how to fix the laser issue? its my favourite mouse before its started to move weirdly. jitter issue..
I would unscrew and rescrew the stuff near the laser inside the mouse. I have done so and it has helped prevent similar things. Hope it helps!
I want to ask are there any weights inside it is pretty heavy for me and I would love to remove them but I dont want to do it for nothing so are there any weights inside? like some kind of rock or something :D
in the video you can clearly see everything that is already inside. Unless you are a genius and know what electronics to remove, no. There is nothing "extra" in there to remove. In fact, this mouse is the lightest gaming mouse there is, so you would have to buy a cheap knock-off mouse from China if you want a lighter mouse.
@@alexanderokak5112 ok, thx, but u could've been nicer to me
@@jeronymb2883 I am very sorry, upon re-reading I was a bit too blunt. I sincerely wish you the best of luck finding the perfect mouse for you :)
@@alexanderokak5112 i bought it a year ago but then I tried g pro wireless when I was at my friends house and that was a difference, but it is ok I still think ur a cool guy just had maybe lil bad day it is ok nothing happened just saying that som3one could dislike ur video just bc of that...
@AlexanderOkak : Can you please tell how high is the encoder in 'mm'.
no
Is it possible to change out the cord? Because mine is broken and won’t work whenever I plug it in and if I leave it in for more than 5 mins the cord gets super freakin hot
bro I'm not the CEO of corsair, try it out and see if it works. You've got nothing to lose
@@laszlobarnabas2244 yo i wanna paracord it so can you tell me where you got a cable from?

I have same mouse like u. But my mouse have double click. Should i change my switch or can u give me any tips ?
switch seems to be soldered on. Just get a new mouse, they cost like £27
you could get a soldering kit, buy omron switches and desolder the existing ones but that would cost the same as a new mouse anyway
@@alexanderokak5112 in my country omron switch only cost $2,5 and the switch from razer. Im see the review who bought that switch they giving 5 star. Already sold 1645 pcs
@@aldysyahputra6967 do you have soldering equipment? A solder and the soldering metal is needed.
@@alexanderokak5112 yep i have all of them.
This dude literally has the same mouse, keyboard(I recognize the wrist guard) and my old mousepad😂
are their replacement feet for this mouse? i need to find them for when they get worn out
I lost the feet for the mouse and I find that the mouse actually works just fine without it, even better actually if you have a decent mousepad. I don't think that you can buy replacements though.
i know this is an old comment but if you want replacement feet you could always spend a few pence more and get hotline mouse skates or hyperglides as they improve mouse glide and reduce friction.

i was wanting to punch holes in my harpoon.. sounds dumb but i want a light mouse and im just having abit of fun, and completely forgot about how they were under there lmao thanks bro
np man, I hope what u did worked (its the kinda shit id too lol)
@@alexanderokak5112 yeah it actually worked lmao
Is there a way to make the clicks quiet
so the clicky noise comes from the omron switches in the mouse. I don't think it is viable to remove them as you would need great soldering knowledge, but if you put a small piece of thin cloth on it then it could reduce the noise potentially.
can you make a video about clean corsair harpoon mouse
hmmm it should be pretty easy. Just open it and use a wet wipe to clean the edges
is there any way i can make this mouse lighter
yeah, remove the electronics. But then it won't work.
@@alexanderokak5112 lmao
You can drill holes in it like with the finalmouse and remove the dpi switch button and remove the RGB light (u can change dpi with the icue software)
@@hinkel8142 thanks, its so good that my pc wont let me use it!

dude i really want closer information to your pc, that shit looks sick af
aw thanks man! The case was a Corsair Alpha Spec (the red and black version) and I took ages removing the plastic angular part and replacing it with glass. I also hand-made the aluminium strips. Unfortunately you can't buy it, you would have to make it yourself *but* Corsair have recently released a similar looking case called the Corsair Omega which may be what you're looking for.
bet im not the only one coming here right after rageing in a game
THANKS, I have been able to : - burn the RGB led (with a stick of metal and a lighter on it) to break that programed-obsolescence battery corsair sh!t. NOTA : The ICUE is worth nothing when the PC is shut down (the RGB is back) and I don't want to have to care to manually switch my mouse off/on everytimes I get off the PC. NOTA 2 : The ICUE is CPU hungry (1-2% permanently) and probably (?) a data mining probe for corsair. - I now can use my mouse without the RGB on LINUX (which does not handle ICUE support and the linux underground alternative of ICUE does not work with the Harpoon)
that's fantastic! I'm so glad I could help you out
I'm curious are you able to remove the cable in order to add a custom cable from like aliexpress? Or is it hard stuck in there?
not sure although I've heard people add a braided mesh over the cable. Don't know how they did it sorry
Where is the battery, my mouse can click but cant move, the red light under it is gone, helpppp
its not bluetooth, no battery. Red light is the laser.
thanks! sadly the mouse driver says it has the option to save rgb settings to mouse which is just wrong! so your video helped me to just break this annoying LED :)
sometimes youve gotta tackle the problem by the horns, I respect that
The mouse does have the option to save RGB settings. It's all done through the ICUE software... It's super simple. That said i'm doing the same thing because I don't like the ICUE power draw on my laptop.
yo man can you please make a video on paracording a cosair harpoon pro?would be really helpful :)
brudda, I have no idea how to do that. I also don't use that mouse any more. It should be a similar process to paracording any old mouse though
@@alexanderokak5112 ok thx for the reply
My mouse wheel is completely broken and fell out of the mouse, not due to the video at all. It happened as I was playing. When I put it back in it doesn't work, anybody know what to do?
It really depends on what part of the wheel is broken. If the plastic is broken on the wheel itself, you will have to buy a new mouse (unless you're some DIY king and know how to melt and mould a new wheel). If the casing around the mouse wheel is broken, you just need some strong glue or tape to hold it together. Remember, no electronics are actually connected to the wheel itself, it's more of a glorified button.
i blocked the LED cause it was too bright lmao
Coscu?
no idea what that means
Thanks for the teardown... But lmao, ADDING weight? You should be reducing it!
a
I bet Ani disliked it DX
For adding weight ? Really ? The best thing this mouse is the small weight. Less weight = more precision with fast movements. Just like a car, the more weight, the more distance to stop at high speed. It's physics. The best mouse i have ever used is the zowie mico. It's lightweight and small, you can move it around with the tip of the fingers ultra fast and stop it just like you had nothing in your hands, just you giving orders to the computer.
less precision in game, I don't know what games you play but for most FPS a high sensitivity at high ranks in unseen, wasting 100 milliseconds longer moving your mouse is worth it if the shot hits. The best thing about this mouse is not the small weight, it's the cheap price for omron switches and a solid design for claw grip users. If you want to use the mouse to be lightweight, by all means do, but adding weights isn't stupid and it greatly improves precision movements. It's physics.
@@alexanderokak5112 less weight means faster movement which allows you to have a way lower dpi. But it's mostly just preference.
I appreciate the video but the camera angle is horrible, making it hard to see what you're doing and then you keep lifting up the mat right in front of the camera. I had to stop watching it cause it was making me sick to watch. As a suggestion, if you lose stuff in the middle of your video, then pause it and resume after you find your stuff, or redo the video.
I don't intend on doing another video like this ever again and was limited with my equipment, although the editing was in my control and I accept responsibility for not cutting that out. Its not my obligation to make this video high quality though, I get paid nothing and gain nothing from making videos like this, so be grateful of what you have. I only made this because there was previously absolutely nothing online indicating how to open the mouse. If you would like a better video to exist, make one yourself and do the community a favour. Thanks for the criticism though, I will take it into account if I do something similar in the future
Wtf bro
