=================================
In this video I talk about the best levels for electricians and why you need to have different levels for the best experience depending if you're a commercial electrician. We use lower-quality torpedo levels for basic daily tasks like leveling plugs, but if you are bending EMT pipe, a level with more heavy-duty RARE EARTH MAGNETS in your level will truly give you an AWESOME experience out there when using a level as an electrician!

  • the "screw thing" on the level is called a NO DOG. Us it when you are making offset bends on BIG PIPE in a hydraulic bender

    • Here are NO DOG examples: kzhead.info/sun/fsh6lplqh3WQma8/bejne.html kzhead.info/sun/opSHgZWZi3Onp58/bejne.html After many years in the trade (and bending big 4" pipe with a Greenlee power bender), this has never been shown to me (or the workers I was around!) Thank-you for your tips.

    • You level it and clamp it down on the side of the pipe. After the first bend of an offset, when you twist the pipe 180 for the second bend you make sure it’s level again so they’ll be no “dog” in the offset.

    • Are you saying up and down is the dog leg if the offset is not 30/30 for example.. like 30/29 degrees? _/‾‾ I've always been told dog leg is left to right plane.. can't figure out how a level does left/right except for eye-balling it 🙈

    • Yeah, I just always did the technique you said.. after I make my bends, you lie the pipe on the ground (or door frame), if it's flat, you're good 🙂.. and may use a level to see the 30 degrees are good, but usually a tape measure against another piece of pipe was always easiest..

    • No Dog was the first brand of that type of level.

  • Checkpoint makes a milled aluminum torpedo level with proper magnets. (it was the original brand, and now other tool companies make similar products) they're also handy for sticking on your tape measure and fishing dropped tools out of stud cavities.

    • Oh yeah, I've never heard of them.. was a bit hard to find their website.. here's a link for others to see!: checkpointlevels.com/

  • short answer: get klein. avaliable everywhere and has 30 degree vials visible from the top down. there's others like checkpoint, ideal, etc. stick with klein.

    • Yeah the Klein definitely seemed to be an improvement over the Empire one (my favorite one), that's why I grabbed both to compare in the video.. I remember back in the day the Klein one was way more expensive (like $70!).. but they were the same price now... so the Klein looks like it'd give a better experience, I agree!

    • Klein torpedo level is the only torpedo level I use/buy.

    • Thanks Ben! Got another one coming tomorrow about that Crimper I've been talking about, and why a dedicated hand-tool crimper vs pliers with a crimper is the way to go.. (you get both insulated and non-insulated crimps).. Stay tuned 🙂

  • The Klein tools magnets are way stronger then the empire ones and the vials are easier to see .

    • Yeah I was impressed with it when I compared them as I was saying in the video there.. will be testing them out eventually.. would like to get into some pipe bending videos one day…

  • I’m big on slimming my tool bag down...so the level with the no dog. Means one less tool in my bag.

    @timwasko847@timwasko847 Жыл бұрын
    • Good input.. I agree on having a light tool bag.. I'd have two bags.. one for my power tools, one for my hand tools.. would help a lot..

  • I Only use/buy klein torpedo levels. They are the Absolute Best "

    @jacobsebastien3910@jacobsebastien39105 ай бұрын
    • The Klein Tools one in this video definitely was better. I remember back in my early days of my electrical apprenticeship the cost was like $15-$20 more.. but I think they were similar price in this comparison video. becoming-an-electrician.com/the-best-levels-for-electricians/

    @jdamh0753@jdamh0753 Жыл бұрын
    • No way! It's never made marks for me EVER.. what makes marks is when the metal of the level hits the wall! Maybe your company buying the cheap electrical tape!!
