In this video I am trying out one of Ruroc's RG1-DX full face snowboard helmets. These are actually very high quality helmets that are designed with comfort and performance in mind, and they are very functional. These helmets offer the next level of protection and the goggle technology offers great peripheral vision while doing a great job of staying fog free. I feel that personally I would want to frequently be removing the mouth guard piece, and I do not want to be limited to just Ruroc goggles so I will not be switching full time to this helmet, although I will likely be using it every once in a while throughout this season. Overall the helmet is comfortable and is a good option for those of you who feel that you want/need the protection offered by a full-face helmet. ridebikes honestly, that’s pretty true, I’m not the greatest, but I make it to the mountain every week, it’s a hella long drive, and I am working to improve myself so I can break that stereotype. The reason I bought my first Ruroc is because I was starting to do extreme backcountry, and needed the best I could get, so most people who actually use this helmet to their full potential aren’t actually seen, they are off in the woods being goons, at least from my experience.

I don't think anyone will dispute Ruroc making quality products. It's the aesthetics that are so polarizing to people. Personally I am not a fan of the look.

Also Ruroc is working with Max Parrot to make a non full face helmet that is lighter and stronger than most traditional helmets, and is compatible with other goggle types, so I would stay tuned for that in case you are interested.

I do a lot of free ride type of snowboarding I've hit a tree on occasion. I've broke a clip off the face mask so it definitely has protected my mouth and ears no concussions yet.
Good video. I actually have the ruroc titan and it works great. But definitely agree with the top to bottom lens part. That was the hardest part for me to get used to.

Finally, someone that has thought of this, from my 7th year i was wondering why no one made this, even tho i like it more like a full face motorcycle helmet not divided in three pieces
I love my ruroc! It doesn't fog up with hood up either as long as you're not standing still and hot. the mask sometimes needs to come off if you're out of breath and stopped, it is annoying tbh. But I had a gnarly face hit a few times so it boosts my confidence greatly. If you fall you don't loose goggles or have to adjust them or have snow get inside them. I find that useful just get up and go again.

I know it's a bit off helmet topic but what are your thoughts on boards size charts and overall snowboard sizes? I wonder bacause you usually ride about 155cm boards and I have 153cm RIDE Helix even tho I'm 4kg/9lbs heavier than you and I'm not sure if I should switch to longer boards if future. I like carving but also doing butters, 180/360 on flat and I want to learn tricks on park jumps.
I've got the black ice helmet great helmet they are very well made only thing I really don't like about it is the lack of downward vision I know your not looking down all the time but it does feel strange and you notice it straight away I ended up switching helmets halfway through my trip as I found the vision too restrictive especially when going over bumpy terrain as it was hard to see what was coming next and I didn't see a lot of the bumps untill I had gone over then unknowingly and fallen off. Still like my Ruroc as they look great but if yoir thinking of getting one just think about the vision being restrictive. 🤘

You say not a full time thing but what sort of conditions or terrain would you ride it in? I rode my rg1-dx full time last year and my only issue was in some of the blizzards we had in australia and the no low light lense.
My brother and I both have these helmets and they are sick! He's right in the video in saying these helmets are super comfy and when I'm walking around I feel like a BA.
Christopher Baker When I was a kid, I felt like a BA with a towel around my shoulders,pretending to be Superman 🙄🙈. Only joking. If it's comfortable and fits your head, that's the main priority 👍

Awesome video, man. I've been using Ruroc helmets since 2013. The helmets offer a really high end protection which is worth it's price (which might seem high but don't forget that you get the helmet, the goggles (+ 1 lens), the face mask and a bag for the helmet). My latest helmet is the Reaper and I can say it's a real masterpiece. :) I've had some really nasty falls and thanks to the helmet I don't have a broken tooth or a broken jaw. #RurocArmy

Other goggles work when not using the face mask I usually don't put it in and use my flight decks, windy days the mask rules, if you don't ride like a jerry don't worry about it and get one if you like it

Lane Moyes In seven seasons I cannot think of one time me or any friends have taken a blow to the jaw. If you’re still worried about the small chance of it happening I guess wear it. But imo you’re paying through the nose to stop something highly unlikely happening.
I agree I have not taken a hard hit to the jaw but I’ve seen people hit trees and it fucks them up bad! Or even slipping off a rail and right on their face. But it all could happen and these helmets are the best protection you can get. And on the plus side mine came in 2 days
an actual mtb full face will offer way better protection. This helmet is no better than any other when it comes to smashing yourself into trees. Most hits to the jaw will be from overshooting a landing and your knees hitting your face in which case youd want a mouth guard not a full face.

If you fall on your face, will this protect your eyes and jaw? I have a buddy who landed on his goggles and got a orbital fracture that resulted in double vision for a year. Would this prevent that

today i just recived my first time ruroc helmet...the only thing i noticed about this helmet is the low space vizibilty comparative with normal ski goggeles .. i was a little bit disapointed .. in general i like this product

I think there’s a problem with it. I ride motocross and we wear neck braces because full face helmets weigh a lot more, which means whiplash is gonna be huge. We don’t fall too much in motocross.. but in snowboarding where u fall several times a day, increases the chance to get one big fall where whiplash will definitely get you. In some cases that will break your neck, explaining why we ride with neck braces.

Just got my ruroc rg1-dx helmet but the faceplate slightly touches my upper cheekbones.. It's the largest xl/XXL size helmet.. Up to 64cm head circumference.. I'm 63cm.. putting pressure from the front presses the top of the inside of the kind of sharp edge of the faceplate uncomfortably against my cheekbones.. I really love this helmet and want to keep it but this does not give me confidence if I were God forbid to faceplant.. it could break my cheekbones.. This is the largest helmet size I believe..I think the only solution is to use the exchange padding to fill the slight wiggle room the helmet has (would need on the front inside of the helmet to create more separation from the inside of my faceplate and my cheekbones) but there are no instructions on how to use the exchange padding.. And ruroc customer service is not that responsive and can only contact them via Facebook messenger. Do you know how to use the exchange padding before my time to return the helmet expires? Thank you

I also have my face mask tied to the helmet so I can take it off easily anytime I want without worrying about losing it.
I thought about getting this for snowboarding and for onewheeling after all the people that one wheel talk about taking head dives on those things... I whitewater kayak a lot and the community never shames people for wearing fullfaces (maybe because the chance to hit a rock with your face is high if you find yourself upsidedown.. Kind of sucks there's a stigma about wearing a fullface for skiing or snowboarding.. It was quite a few years ago, but I have seen someone bust their face so bad from jumping over a groomed trail that the brackets from their braces came off... I bet they wanted a full face then
the thing is these helmets arent properly rated and that face mask is just high density plastic it doesnt contain any impact foam or anything so if you did take a hard face hit it has the possibility of shattering and injuring you way more

It doesnt have any sort of certified impact rating. Chances are you're still gonna be drinking out of a straw. But really what are the chances of the lower part of your face getting fucked during boarding? In my 2 years of freestyle boarding (mind you I did take heavy slams) I have never had an impact on my mouth area

griffiths866 its pretty small from the vertical but you get used to it its not that of a problem and the horizantal view is perfect

Man i love ruroc. I barrowed my friends a couple years ago when I busted my helmet. I loved it and I actually took a good hit right to the mouth. The helmet was fine, just a couple scratches. I think if I was wearing any other helmet, i would be missing a few teeth and have a big scar. I honestly have no idea why I dont have my own ruroc yet.

Yeah that piece of plastic that clips in SURELY will hold up for full face contact. Fun fact: Plastic shards won't show up on the X-ray so have fun with the surgeon carving them out. Leave me a pm when you see anyone in boardercross rock this instead of a proper full-face helmet. This is just a gimmick made for gapers to throw money at, and I'm sure this channel got paid to do this commercial. Ruroc managed to make a helmet dangerous. Bravo
