  • The problem with Haye was that he was never a true HW: the stories from his gym was that he was pumping iron and putting so much pressure on his body to make himself as strong as possible to mix it with the big boys, his body simply gave up on him in his later career

    @oliverdesvaux@oliverdesvaux2 жыл бұрын
    • Hey, what did u mean by simply gave up on him later in his career? Like he lifted too much weight for too long?

      @manny6880@manny68802 жыл бұрын
    • Yeah, he was constantly pulling out of fights near the end wasn’t he? Rumours from the gym days for him was that he pumping weights that his body couldn’t handle. Plus, he’s a 6 foot 1 guy mixing it with 6 foot 5+ giants after all. And he was sparring with beasts with Hrgovic and Wilder wasn’t he

      @manny6880@manny68802 жыл бұрын
    • @@manny6880 yes, he put too much pressure on his body to not only be a heavyweight, but also have enough strength to have some KO power at heavyweight level. In the end, all overtraining wore his body down and he became extremely prone to injuries even with normal boxer training. He tried his best to be among the best heavyweights (and he succeeded), but in the end, he was just a cruiserweight trying to be a heavyweight and his body couldn't take it anymore. In his last fast, he was severely outclassed, not because of age... but because his body was a broken mess. I wouldn't be surprised if it later came out that he went into that fight with broken hands and a misaligned collarbone.

But now with his kronk style it would be messy. you see what he can do with a 6,7 and 17 stone wilder, imagine what he do to a 6,2 inch 15 stone over the hill Haye. • Rocky Marciano was the toughest "fighter" ever to enter the ring. Ali was definitely the best and most craftiest "boxer" to ever dominant an entire sport. Duran in his prime was the meanest "killer" I've ever seen in the ring with a single purpose- To hurt or kill anyone that faced him. Sugar Ray was absolutely the "quickest and fastest technical" boxer that completely overwhelmed his opponent with magical "flurys" ! In his prime there were times that human vision couldn't even see his hands. Hearns "hit" harder than most heavyweights, thus the nickname"Hitman". Tyson had the most natural hardest combination attacks of any man ever to put the gloves on. I've left out many but I just wanted to acknowledge some of the Greatest Greats.

How can one dominate an era if they no longer is active or a participant no more? I sure hope that makes sense. What you mean to say he would go on to live as a legend of the sport and so therefore you and others are putting him as the GOAT, but if hes retired than his time as a participant is over regardless of anyone being labelled as a GOAT of any sport. Ali did not dominate the 90s for example as he retired but he continues to lives long in the eyes of many and is seen as the GOAT.

His normal gameplan didn't work. Fury is another kind of boxer and that broke him mentally. So yes, he will have a few other good fights but no, he will not become champion ever again.
