The goal is that precious cavalier king Charles spaniel Maisy will eventually be able to travel in a car, resting in a crate.
One step at a time. First, we are teaching her to lay down and relax in the crate, while the crate is in the kitchen - a place where Maisy has a lot of positive experiences. This is her very first lesson. She can come out if she chooses to but she is choosing to stay in there, then laying down in there. I’m watching her body language the whole time as I begin to close and open the door. I don’t want to see any signs of distress. So far, that door is no big deal at all.
