    • Update method I found the best was the constant opening and closing of the door without talking or acknowledging the puppy puppy tries to walk out you close it gently in to his/hers face until settled and laying down close crate a put sheet over the top

  • Took our 8wk puppy home a week ago. He wasn't willfully going into his crate, but would stay in if he was sleepy and I carried him in. However the evenings have been a different story! He would fall asleep, but if I even tried to leave the room he would wake up and cry, bark, whine and whatever else came out of his mouth. I'd take him to potty or lay next to the crate. Then sneak away again and he would cry again. Finally watched this video. Covered the entire crate except the side facing the wall. He whined a tiny bit, but has now been asleep for almost 2hours. Thank you for this video! I'm also doing the high value treat training!

  • Guys, this video is magic! I had made the mistake of putting my puppy's crate in the bedroom with me for 10 days after he arrived. The only thing I managed to accomplish was to have him sit down quietly for me to open the door. I tried to put him in the living room twice and it was hell. Then I watched this video and did everything in it. Literally everything. And it worked like a charm. My pup goes into night for his naps and the night without any complaints and stays there for hours at a time without so much as a peep. He will only cry when he really has to go potty. So guys - DO. NOT. HALF. ASS. IT. Do it all, it works!

  • I guess no one has really mastered how to train your dog to go to bed at night, when there's loud noises going on. Like cars racing, dogs in the neighborhood barking, sirens, thunder...... I could go on. I've always held them and reassured them by saying you're inside you're safe you're with me. And that works for about 90% of the things that go on. When they are in the crate and you are in bed and Loud Noises start going off...its hard not to go in and comfort them.

    @rufus5966@rufus596618 күн бұрын
    • In this situation it's best to desensitize those noises outside of the time your puppy hears them. Then he/she won't rely on you for comfort at that time, but they'll simply be no big deal and your puppy can sleep through them. This video can help you with that: kzhead.info/sun/nct-e7eopIellmw/bejne.html

  • Hello, and thank you so much fo the useful information you gave, I think this video made it all to me, I had a chihuahua few days back he’s like 3 months old and I had a lot of crying for the first 2 nights, but it’s getting better now as he started to realize that he must be quiet while in crate at night. I still have to learn a lot more about crate training, and I think I have to change the crate to make one for sleeping and a different place for peeing lol! Thanks again!

  • My 11 week old golden retriever pup has been doing awesome and so glad I watched so many videos before bringing him home. I slept next to his crate the first night, then moved farther away to the couch. On day 3 I was in my bed and he farther away in his crate in the kitchen. Since then he's been doing great in the crate and napping there about 3 times per day. It's night time that has suddenly changed. He goes to bed and was sleeping well through the night...9:30 or 10:00pm til about 6:00am or later. All of a sudden, he's waking earlier, like 4:30 and 5:30am. Have tried to let him cry it out and settle but with a working hubby and school kids, that's been a bit difficult. I've resorted to taking him out to potty and lying with him on the couch for another hour of sleep for the both of us. I'm certain I'm breaking some rules here but not sure what else to do. Hate to complain as he's sleeping so good as it is. Thinking maybe I need to keep him up longer or play with him right before bed like you said. That's all I can think of. Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

I tried again today after going for a bathroom break, and I thought by sitting near him he would calm down. In which he was calmer rather than me walking off. The blanket over the crate, did wonders. We will try the rest later in the day, Thank you.

A few cries (less than 5 minutes worth). Maybe it's just her, or maybe the Snuggle Puppy works, but she loves that thing!

I'm going to try pulling up water by 7pm and see if Chewy, my 9 week old Australian Shepherd, can make it longer at night. He's already amazing at about 5-6 hours.
