  • I have a question, Paulo Costa's last fight in California was at UFC 241 against Yoel Romero, his fight night weight was 214 lbs as he exceeded the allowed percentage of gained weight, so the CSAC usually recommend these fighters to move up to the next weight class the next time they fight in California, so what happens now? Thanks.

    • Agreed. If anything his cardio and scrambles looked good, but aside from that… he fought an old and gassed out Rockhold and didn’t even come close to finishing him.

    • I think Costa looked really bad, because he was not against prime Luke. Rockhold was out of the game, and came back to fight Costa. Luke had gassed out fast, even though he landed a lot of good strikes. Whittaker lost his last bout, that is why people are underestimating him.

  • I’m in the minority but I feel Paulo Costa gets a knockdown and gets Robert Whittaker out with Ground and Pound.Robert gotten knocked down 2 out of his last 3 fights. Robert kicks(particularly his oblique kicks) needs to be a key factor to win.Robert has a big leg reach advantage (43.5 inches to 39).

    • He did have an injury that really affected his training camp for DDP. Hopefully that explains why he didn’t hold up as well

  • I feel this is the fight on the card that may well be the upset. If paulo can keep a pace and have whittaker on the back foot he can win on volume. Bobby got hurt several times against DDP and I feel paulo could potentially bully him the same way.

  • I miss Whittaker's rear leg front kick. Remember how he would snap it out into the hips & guts of Romero to keep the beast at bay. A useful tool for fighting bigger stronger monsters. It could have been more useful against DDP and against Costa also.

  • I still believe Costa is a fucking fighter, when he fought Adesanya he just froze and got carried away by the pressure. He's super strong and super fast and if he comes in confident, he's going to give Bobby Knuckles some serious work to deal with. on the other hand, if he comes insecure and "hyper-respectful" like he did with adesanya... Rob will dismantle him.

  • Never understood why it’s mentioned that fighters used to be at a lower weight class. Most do go up a weight class as they age.

  • I think people may be overblowing the size difference. Rob has really filled out into the weight class and walks into the cage around 93-94 kg according to an interview and Costa recently posted something saying he was 93.8 kg. Costa will likely be less than a few pounds heavier and height and reach considered together they will be pretty similarly sized all around.

  • Drisscus vs an aggressive paulo with proper weight management would be a treat. Unfortunately paulo is to big a question mark for this to ever come about. Paulo is the only one at that weight with greater power than driscus

  • You’re sort of saying it yourself Dan. Against flat footed Vettori he landed a lot, against flat footed Romero he landed a lot. Against slow and old Rockhold he landed a lot. Against a rangey, kick heavy striker he landed nothing…Whittaker is a striker who fights long, he doesn’t fight inside, he keeps you at his own range. Costa won’t win this. Costa is shit, idk why people keep gassing him. He ONLY looks good against flat footed strikers and old men.

  • Imagine thinking that costa looked better against rockhold than against vettori... If vettori didn't had abs and chin made of vibranium the fight would have ended in the first round. Against rockhold he gassed out because of the altitude and wasn't able to finish a dude that was literally resting with his hands on his knees for half the fight and against vettori the 5th round was his best round, how the hell was better conditioned against rockhold? do you even watch the fights?
