    • yes, but in most cases your left with a big hole... Just removing the top is far superior, in 10 - 15 years its rotted away and back to earth.

  • Pretty cool machine but really wish people would learn to value trees more, they are part of our ancestry, they are our lungs and they give us oxygen, shelter, wood, flowers, beauty, shade and are so important for us being able to live on this planet full stop. Old trees are our teachers and they fulfill a purpose of elders for other trees. We can and will need to incorporate trees in future farming and living. They hold microclimates, they draw moisture out of the air and provide us with water, they give us flowers, bees, small and large birds, they provide for wildlife, they give us shelter, wood for warmth, company and oxygen. It breaks my heart seeing older trees being removed when we do have plenty of space to co-exist. When we farm they can provide us with alternative income in form of apples, hazel, pears and or other welcomed trees like oak and beech or birch. Bees and birds love the variety and the wildlife get shelter as well. We need to incoroprate wildlife and trees or we end up living in a barren desert with over exploited soil that will turn into dust and sand. Take care of our trees. Great machine but never forget what they do for us, and they do it without asking nothing in return. All the best. x

  • It all depends what you're using the land for, but he best machines are the ones with the capeability to uproot and remove the trees stumps completely, the others just leave a large part of it lurking under the surface !

    • Those are very common here in Sweden. But usually its a 8 wheeled Forwarder (Truk that is made to go in the forest) that pulls them . Then they rake it and move everything to a huge pile in the side of the road. Then a truck with a huge grinder on the back shows up grinding it and loading it on a 15 meter trailer hooked up to it. Then they go down to the local power plant and tip it there. The last part is kind of sad, becasue they could have made fuel of it in stead.

    • @@dog2man1994 Thanks for your opinion. I've got about 100 stumps to remove, but only 3 of them are on land I need immediately. I've been advised to apply a stump rotting chemical to most of them and call in a backhoe in a couple of years to pop them out. What do you think of this?

    • Если ведётся нормальное лесное хозяйство, то деревья вовремя возобновляются, увы, например в России сейчас такие законы, что рубить нельзя , пусть все сгниет, увы это приводит к деградации леса, никакого реликтового тем самым леса в ближайшее время недостичь...

  • It's pretty weird how the noisiest most destructive pieces of machinery can be so mesmerising and relaxing ! (In The large scale operations you could see All the trees were in uniformed rows so they were obviously a sustainable source thats renewed) England is a prime example of deforestation. the whole country couldn't be seen for the wood once upon a time !

    • Так это только если бизнес план по использованию територии в будущем позволяет! Ну например прокладка газопровода сила Сибири или завод деревообрабатывающий в лесу или звероферма или огромная пасека или жилой поселок проэкт дороги моста и др.Берется расход топлива в час плюс половина от этой цены на масло плюс столько же на амортизацию плюс еще на оплату труда тракториста! Ну как то так! Это может себе позволить или государство или крупный бизнес не иначе
