Not sure what made me more nervous - the first few spins when you fired the lathe up, or turning blind with the chisel out of sight through a inch-and-a-half hole 😂 outstanding mate - well done 👍🏻
Thanks 👍
What I really appreciate in your work is the experience, the artistry, the clear mind and the vivid imagination of what will become from that raw piece of wood. Beautiful, thank you for sharing
Thank you so much
Yes, who doesn't love a Laburnum log, especially when it's turned into something so beautiful! This is gorgeous!💖
Thanks
Wood in it's beautiful natural glory. ❤️❤️
So simple in design, so complex in execution. Another masterpiece!
Thankyou

Beautiful! Love the color of the wood and the design!
That was another great job and now I can see the grian from the outside of the log to the center and it is really beautiful job Andy.
Thank you very much!

Such a beautiful piece of wood!. I don't think I have ever seen Laburnum wood before. The grain is fabulous.
it looked like a strobe light spinning with all that chatoyance, just incredible
Beautiful grain on it…had a proper wobble on the machine at the start!
You always come up with such interesting and elegant designs! Beautiful work as always!
Thank you!

Laburnum aka Golden Chain. We had a huge one when I was growing up. It was gorgeous in full bloom. I didn't know the grain would be gorgeous as well. Good job!
Thanks .. Yes its a cool looking grain
Beautiful work! It is absolutely stunning!
Thank you so much
If I lived near one of these wood turners I would do all their sanding and polishing for free lol. I love watching the finished product turn from wood to glass like
Love the natural wood. Amazing grain patterns. Thanks for your work.
Thanks
Absolutely beautiful Andy! One of my favorite projects you have done.
Thank you!
This guy is mad with skills in my opinion the best wood turner I ever saw
Ha ha, "wood turner, saw", I see what you did there 🤣
So creative and beautiful! I agree with the poster below regarding the strong and steady hands required.....impressive! I love your small inserts which remind me of butterfly steri-strips healing the "ouchies."
Thanks
The wood grain is absolutely beautiful, but those little Band-Aids on those cracks are just adorable.
Thankyou
Clean. And very elegant in its simplicity: Beautiful work, Andy. 👏👏👏👏👏
Many thanks!
No matter how many live edge turning videos I watch, I can never comprehend when you put it on sideways at the start, how it will turn out in the end. Always a mystery.
Absolutely gorgeous and awesome job.
Late night turning with Andy.....very cool and some nice wee bow ties 🎀 🪵
Thanks 👍

I wish I could look at a piece of wood and not just see what it is, but also see what it could be.
Michelangelo, perhaps history's greatest sculptor, understood this concept to his bones. Two of his more famous quotes speak directly to it: Every block of stone has a statue inside it and it is the task of the sculptor to discover it. I saw the angel in the marble and carved until I set him free.
Buddy, everything seems impossible unless you have the proper tool and a little experience with it. Once you can imagine what you can do with the tool ideas come to you.
Very impressive.
@@markbeames7852 honestly I think a lot of this is just to start doing stuff to the wood and refine the form as you go. When I'm turning I know a general thing that I'm aiming for, but make design changes as I go to suit the wood. It's always a surprise for me what I end up with.
Damn that is deep
Mate the grain in that piece is stunning nice work the oil really brings it to light well done 👍🦘🇦🇺
Thanks 👍
That's awesome how it turned out when u put it on there at first with the flat part facing u I didn't know how it was gonna turn out if it was gonna bounce around or what was gonna happen but u did a great job and it looks awesome 👌
Andy, once again I must compliment you on a fine job as usual.
Thankyou
@@AndyPhillipWoodturning You are welcome.

Hi Andy. The laburnum has a very pretty grain to it. And it looked like it required a strong but steady hand to carve it. It's beautiful.

Very nice, I love the bowties.

Truly a beautiful piece! Our laburnum tree is not nearly that large, but I've gotten enough off various prunings to make some nice tool/chisel handles,. It has a bunch of different 'local ' names, around here it is called a Golden Chain Tree. -Veteran '66-68
Thanks Roger 👍

Hi Andy what beautiful wood its got lovely grain and markings and colours. What a magnificent piece you have just made, you really have a brilliant imagination and you are really clever. Thanks for a great video can't wait for your next one. Amanda xxx
Thankyou
I'm always amazed when i see a video like this, that doesn't end up with a hole gouged through to the outside. Whats the magic behind that?
Practice.
Wood is such a beautiful media to work with... the colours and the grains are fantastic.
I watch a lot of woodturning videos and this is one of my favourite finished products I have seen. 👏🏼
Thanks 👍
Amazing!!! Very interesting talent you have
How can you not like this. You can tell he knows what he's doing, he still has all his fingers.
Every piece you make belongs in a museum!

Beautiful love watching your videos
Glad you like them!
I am astonished at you tackling such a dangerous piece of raw stock. Amazing! You must be very experienced.
Amazing piece, Andy! Beautiful work!!! 😃 Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Thanks
Incredible how someone so skilled can make something wonderful look so easy.
Thank you!
That is absolutely beautiful.
Thanks 👍
Beautiful 😮
Thank you!
I just smoked a joint and this is the coolest stuff
😂😳
Bow-ties are cool 💚💚💚
Beautiful
A beautiful piece, both from the design point of view and its natural beauty. Love the contrasting bow ties. A clever way to fix the problem whilst looking like they were part of the design before you even knew about the cracks. Talking about design, do you sketch out (or design "architecturally" to the mm) before you start the process, or do you think "vase!" or whatever it is you come up with, and then let the wood guide you to the actual end shape? Obviously some like the 3D chess board & set would require a lot of planning, but it's more this sort of work that I'm thinking about. You do it so naturally that it seems like you're doing one extreme or the other when it comes to the design. However you do it, you never fail to amaze me with your skill and artistic eye. Bravo, squire, you did it again!
Thankyou .. I decided beforehand to make a hollow form but I never decide on a shape until I'm turning
