Some common questions we get from people about a puppy schedule are things like "how many times should we train our puppy in a day?" and "how much time should my puppy spend in their crate?" or "how often should we take our puppy out to go potty?". In this video, we'll show you how you can schedule the most important parts of your puppy training and take advantage of the natural training opportunities that present themselves throughout the day. We will talk about puppy potty training, the important parts of puppy crate training that are often overlooked. Even making sure that the time that you spend with your puppy is QUALITY time is important for your puppy's training! Remember, your puppy is always learning, whether you're training them or not! You want to be sure that they are getting the best information possible.

  • This video, along with the potty training one, probably saved my relationship with my pup. We got Samson 2 weeks ago and Ive been just complete sapped of energy because he takes so much time to watch and even with a close eye he often messed in the house. In 48h of following a better schedule, using a crate more wisely, and being intentional with high/low energy exercises Im already seeing a massive change in Sammy. Maybe Im fooling myself, but it feels like a different dog. The biggest change too is with me! Im not so stressed about "what is the dog doing now?" and can focus when I eat, do chores, etc. I can even sit down long enough to write a whole youtube comment!!

    • @@MafaldadeSousaMacie put stuff in the crate that she likes, especially a chew, like a pig ear. Only give the special treat in the crate. She'll learn that good things are in the crate and she'll learn to like it. Don't give in to her complaining. You need to give her a reason to want to be in the crate. Talk in a calming voice. In our case, our crate has a secure water cup, so our pup knows he can get a drink whenever he likes. Just gotta know that if he whimpers, that's a sign he wants to go out and pee/poo.

He still bites and gets agressive if you try to hold his collar or discipline him. He pulls, he jumps and refuses to listen most of the time. Does does react to his name when not distracted, he does a few commands when there is food involved. Sit, down, crate and he's starting to pick up on stay.

Many hunting dogs are not also living in houses, they're kept outside in kennels. And most domesticated house dogs are not built for hunting nor do they have the drive to do so. So that's kind of a silly comparison. An english bulldog for example, is not going out hunting with people. Dogs have become companion animals for the majority of people.

Setting a proper schedule for a puppy is game changing. I’ve had her for 7 days now. I realized I gave her too much freedom the first 6 days and her behavior became concerning but it was likely due to me not properly guiding her and giving into her every whine/cry. Found this channel and we’ve been applying this training only since yesterday but I see such a change in her already. Thank you guys so much for your content. You are a much needed resource. • Thank you soooooooo much for your vids. I just adopted a 9wk old boxer/lab mix about 3 wks ago, and I've been figuring I've made a HUGE mistake for most of that time, because I'm exhausted trying to keep up with training and potty training and keeping this high energy dog healthy (I'm pretty low energy, myself). He's a great, smart dog that's learned a lot of commands, already (I was even able to have lunch over at my mom's house with a friend while he patiently waited on a blanket with some toys, near me). I've watched a ton of training vids, and I feel like they were helpful to give me confidence to start out with--but your guys' vids are so thorough and I really appreciate the emphasis not being on treats when they poop or for long-term (thankfully, my pup started out being more enthused about praise, and is just now becoming about as interested in treats...otherwise I totally would have been leashed to treats) Anyway, I'd decided to try to start crating him while I'm home a little more often becasue of continued accidents in the house (I also use a puppy pad at night next to his crate in a makeshift playpen); but was unsure how much to do it or how to implement it. Today, watching your vids, gave me the confidence needed to crate him regularly between potty/training breaks; and we both seem the better for it. I watched more of your vids during his "downtime". I'm learning to change my position when I play with him so that he doesn't think it's okay to bite me and was able to get him to follow me around the house using peanut butter as the lure (that's his fav treat). I'm going to try to crate him completely, without puppy pads, for the first time tonight; and hope that I don't have to make too many trips outside during the night. But I'm hoping that this new routine will be the start of an even healthier relationship with my dog (and him with the interior of the house). He's already a great dog! I just needed help in providing the additional structure he needs. Thanks for that!!

  • I stumbled upon your videos last night after getting home. Yours and your wife’s demeanor is amazing. Your approach is efficient and I can’t get enough of them! Binging the videos as we speak lol. I am now subscribed and following your video training for my new puppy who is biting and chewing everything. Besides that he is an amazing boy and so friendly. He already walks right by my side. I think because we got him very young so he seems incredibly attached to me. You guys are amazing and I’m passing your channel on to everyone I know. Thanks so much!!!🙏🏾 Ps. Your wife’s voice even calms and makes me want to listen😂

  • Your videos and videos from other similar channels are helping alot with my new puppy. The first night I got 2 hrs sleep and was exhausted throwing up most of the day, unable to eat, the second night I got 4 hrs sleep but I was still throwing up from exhaustion. My first dog was an outside loving Collie, so I never had to worry about inside training. Now I see that inside training a Pup is no walk in the park, the information from these videos is invaluable and has already helped Immensely. Thank you.

  • This whole video is really great. I'd love to see this as a series as a puppy progresses and then some different schedules for a dog too. At what stage do you introduce the words for the commands instead of just lures? With "shake a paw" it seems to be only once it's going well (couldn't really tell why you think that is going well but not the sit either)? So a few days of reps without a command before a command is introduced?

  • I have a 12 week old Shepard/ Lab, the treats in the crate were a life saver from crying and complaining. Now she goes in so good for naps and bedtime. We were giving treats at potty and she started phantom peeing so I'm glad we learned it was our fault AND how to fix it. Still trying to get on the right schedule with potty breaks, were back to basics of every 2 hours exactly or after play / meals / crates . She learned to sit in 2 days, so she's very smart. These tips are super helpful!! Next stopping pulling, learning to stay or place and not biting .

  • Hey there!! I love this video. I’ve been struggling with my new puppy. I’m really excited to lure him into some new tricks. I’ve been having a really hard time with the downs because my puppy bites at my hands to get to the food. I’ve been doing the collar grab/settle training and it seems to help, but I was wondering if you had any advice on eating food nicely. My little guy gets a little too snappy. Thanks!!
