  • My mini dachshund/Yorkie mix's name is Juno too! First morning with the new puppy and she's terrified of EVERYTHING! Trying to get her to go potty outside, but the grass is too scary for her and she keeps trying to crawl up my leg. However, the crate is now her favorite place. 😕🙃 Edit: 3 days later - grass is fun and fascinating, and the crate is a horrible prison at 1am!

I turn on the oven vent. Which help her to sleep. She good now. I don't even used the oven vent anymore. When I leave for a hour or 2. She doesn't whine or bark. I have cameras setup to see her behavior. She either sleeping or playing.

It is mostly for ease of transport but is a requirement in an apartment living space if there is a need for services and such. It is TSA has the food dishes in stainless a needed option for plastic related acne which can be infected hair follicles or lesions. I am so happy with the thicker bedding also since he has room enough for it. I am pleased to try all the advice out there with giving hints and expectations of time in or out for different times.

  • Hi. I just discovered your channel and am so excited to watch your content. We will be bringing our new puppy home at the end of January so I have some time to get back up to speed (it’s been over ten years since we had a puppy in the house!). One question which I didn’t see answered in your list of video titles - do you have recommendations on what to do when you have a long drive to get home with your new puppy? We are picking up our puppy from an out of state breeder and it will take us approximately seven-eight hours to get home. What should we do with her during that time? What about food, water, crating, etc. I don’t want her first trip in a car to be too stressful either. Thanks so much! (This subject could make a good video 😉)

  • Oh. My. Gosh. I have to start out with Admittedly my biggest issue was defaulting into passive training mode where I would correct while I was working on something else. This forced me into a mindful training mindset, and it not only trained my dog to not bark in the kennel. I came out with a perspective I am now utilizing for training and even other life skills. This technique worked really well. Now how do I train the other humans in the house to stop talking to dogs as if they were humans. They are depreciating the value of the dogs names!!!

    • Many years ago, I had adopted a puppy last minute on a weekend. No planning time. I worked in a law office and brought the puppy to work with me first day, full of apologies. Had a conversation with my boss and brainstormed how I might be able to come back and forth during the day to break up crate time at home. To my absolute delight, the boss said, “Carol, why don’t you just bring the pup with you everyday for a few months to work through the puppy training”. What??? I would never have asked! Turned out that the clients LOVED having the dog there and she became quite a little ambassador for the office. She would comfort stressed clients and was even welcomed into the courthouse when I walked over there to do my daily filing. I know this would not work at most jobs, but I certainly never imagined it could work in my situation. Next puppy, hubby and I took turns coming home during the day so the pup had attention twice each workday for a walk and some people time. That pup did really well too. Good luck!

    • LOL! We were sitting for the. Grand-dogger and dealing with her screaming in the crate (separation anxiety?). I was being sarcastic with hubby and set my tablet down in front of the crate with a KZhead video going and to my absolute astonishment, the dog laid down and settled. A friend’s rescued dog had destroyed a metal crate and asked for help. We did some crate games and to practice leaving the house, we took doggo for a walk, placed doggo in the crate, turned on an audio book and left. It was MAGIC.

If I close the door and cover it she will maybe whine the first 5min then settle until it’s time to come out but I’d like to be able to leave the door open so she doesn’t feel trapped but get her to understand not to come out unless I release her. • Exercising them beforehand always helps whether it's a longer walk or a really good play session that way they're calmer and have had that bit of happy hormones from the exercise. Often if a puppy hasn't had enough of an outlet before having to settle they'll just go berserk and bark up a storm especially a high energy breed like a husky that was bred to run for miles a day.

  • My puppy will enter and stay with a food dispenser toy in her crate, with the door closed. She knows that entering in the crate is wonderful because I teach her with another of your videos, she knows she receives a treat when she goes in. It wasnt stressful at all because she catched it quickly. But as soon as the toys is empty, she will start to try to get off the crate. I dont know why she doesn't want to stay. Its because its summer and its too hot here? Maybe the floor of my house is colder than the floor of the crate.

I tried this technique above for walking out the room. No amount of quiets, ignoring or time stops him jumping, crying and clawing at the crate😅 eventually I have to come back over, which is teaching him I come back when he cry’s. • What are u using for treats for the session

    • Hey, friend, I'll try to answer you. Listen, as far as I know, you should never give your dog "free food". Instead, they should "earn" the food through a behavior you want. So the treats during training are usually the own dog's regular food, no need to buy new stuff. This means you can get the total amount of food of the day and separate it into portions: some for training sessions and some for regular moments. A training session would be something more complex, like new tricks, crate training, etc. Anything you guys are still working. A "regular moment" can be giving them food after they do the tricks they ALREADY know, such as sit, down, roll over... If your dog hasn't leaned any tricks tho, it can be something as simple as stop jumping/barking to the plate of food in your hand ou sitting as to wait for you to put the plate on the floor. None of us have time for so many training sessions per day, right? 😅 Just remember to keep an eye on the amount of food, avoid giving them more food than they should eat in a single day, ok? Good luck!

  • My adult dog was never crate trained and has horrible separation anxiety. He literally barks for hours if hes left alone anywhere, in the crate or not. In the crate is so bad he wont even go in it on his own, no matter how many treats i give him.

    • only train after a hard exercise right before a meal, then just use their kibble. Most puppies attack a meal as if they haven't eaten for a week, so they are very motivated for that training kibble.

  • I am not for crate trainings, even though i can do it? I dont need a moment in the shower alone. Wife, cat and dog comes in, heck not even the toilet is a sacred place...... I find crate training kinda of unnecessary with all the tools we have today. I mean puppy pen's, babygates, doors ect? Why do we want to crate a pup? It might be a descendant of wolf, but they are house dogs now. So really do not understand why its so importend to learn a pup to be in a iron cage to learn them later.... they dont need it..... -_- Besides all that? Like the training method and good job in explaining asfar as possible. Pup got lost a couple of times, scratching and licking gave it away.... Peeping, barking? They all do that ;) Be happy you didnt get sjit right away lol

  • You add an extra vowel to almost every word with one when you speak. Could we train that out of you? It's verging on baby talk and making me want to implode.
