Former NASA Astronaut Explains Jeff Bezos's Space Flight | WIRED

2021 ж. 18 Шіл.

Astronaut Mike Massimino attempts to explain what Jeff Bezos's space flight will be like, in just about the same amount of it will take for Jeff to take the flight. The Blue Origin flight lasts about 11 minutes, there's no pilots and it's totally automated. Mike breaks down all the steps of the flight and tires to best to explain what Jeff will experience while in space.

You are forgetting that these programs employ thousands and thousands of people giving them all great living wages. Another huge point you’re both missing is that these programs are actually investments mlk During Apollo for every $1 spent it returned $7. Space flight today returns $40 for every dollar spent! • The nausea is the bit they always seem to “gloss” but not gloss over. I’ve heard some people feel terrible anxiety over continuing to fall and fall and fall and fall and fall. I know the og astronauts wouldn’t exactly share bad experiences at the time because of the possibility of being grounded, but a couple have commented here and there over the years. Seems like the pros are always so dang excited to fly again (unless you pay attention). It’s exciting that people who aren’t the typical professional astronaut will be experiencing space flight and reporting their experiences. Humanity is literally taking the first few steps into an environment Earth life hasn’t ever been capable of exploring. Orbit is the next big ticket space tourism milestone, and it’s quite a bit more challenging than just traveling to space. Can you imagine seeing Earth like the Apollo crews? The good ol’ everyone-but-Michael-Collins view.

It's a very reliable system, and the capsule is designed for a safe landing even if two of three parachutes don't deploy. Each of the three main parachutes are deployed separately by a separate system. The seats also have shock absorbing devices in them in case of a rough landing on one parachute.
