  • No noisy neighbors, no cars or loud music. Just the wind, an apple and some deer. 😊👍🏻

    @SquirrelTheater@SquirrelTheater Жыл бұрын
    • Most of the time. But believe it or not it can get noisy with all that you mentioned. Car sounds, motorcycle racing around the lake, neighbors getting loud, dogs barking etc, even a loud band playing down by the lake in summertime. But most of the time it’s nice and that’s what I try to keep the videos about. We are still in winter mode which quiets things down a lot, but summer can get crazy. Living in an area where it can get dead quiet also means that when there are extraneous noises, they can really be heard from long distances. The only way to stay sane is to focus on the good moments which are still plentiful. 🦌🦌🦌🌞🦌🦌🦌

  • I feed the deer in my backyard corn and apples, sunflower seeds,Milo etc. I also feed the birds and squirrels, woodpeckers everyday. It costs me well over a thousand dollars to do it. Now that Joey is President that has gone up considerably, I'm a poor man. I find it does my heart and soul good to do it. Some of the birds get within arm's reach when I'm on a ladder filling the suet containers. I swear they sing and express their joy when I do it each morning. It makes me happy to do it. You can hear the birds sounding off that I am feeding, seems as if they are sounding the dinner bell to all the other birds. The rabbits also come to eat the corn and sunflower seeds. I have box turtles who lay their eggs each year in my garden, I have some amazing pictures and videos of them digging their holes and laying eggs. About 30 years ago I had a reoccurring dream about animals gathered around me while sitting in a field. Ever since then I felt a calling to help animals the best I can.

    • Your most welcome. Yeah, it’s hard to believe that at one time Little One was so little that Mother hid her in the woods while she came to see me and do some apple munching. I noticed this one day whilst sitting in the woods and seeing both of them from a distance. I asked Mother when I saw her to bring her new baby and show me. The very next day she brought Little One and of course I was amazed. Little One was still pretty shy though and if you can believe this, had no interest in apples. Well. That changed! Now she’s a front liner. She always gets in the front of the line almost on top of me. She is a real sweetheart. 🌹🌞🌹

I feed and help a mama deer that has a broke ankle and she brings her 2 babies with her and mama will eat right near me no problem but the 2 little one's will run if I just look at them. Takes time. The fact that little ones comfortable around you tells me you're a great guy and doing things right. Prey animals are tough to gain their trust and when you do it's a great feeling

      @MattyDemello@MattyDemello Жыл бұрын
    • @@MattyDemelloYeah, it’s true. It takes awhile for the little ones to be certain that they’ll be ok if they get close. But sooner or later, with some soft words and a smile, they come around. Little One is real Big now but she still is first in line standing next to me to get that next slice. Since this was filmed, there have been a few changes in the herd. Of the two Twins, one of them had a fawn. Twin 2. That was quite lovely for awhile but then the rejection of her started up again by the Matriarch. In the end after getting to know Micro, Twin 2 disappeared and Micro still followed the herd. But they rejected her a lot as well. Kind of back and forth on that. And Little One got in on that which really surprised me. After awhile they seemed to accept her but still no sign of her mother. Twin 1 still showed up but then the rejection of her started again and even little Micro was getting in on that. The Twins were the most unaggressive deer so it really hurt me to see that. Then, the last few times I saw the deer it was Twin 1 and Micro together and no one else. Then today just Twin 1. So I’m anxiously awaiting a real nice day when they come around and see where the herd is at. Deer life is a real mystery.

  • Ahhh..I've been blessed to walk with whitetail deer for over 2 decades.. we've learned a lot from each other.. I just got in from visiting my family of 5, Matriarch Zoe who is going on 7 this spring, her Rosie(going on 3) Nanny Daisy(going on 2) & Rascal & Luna.. We spend a lot of time in the evenings in winter resting together, they fall asleep for 3 hours or so.. I share apples a little differently than most folks..the deer & I just hit the apple trees, I shake & pull some.down, I take a couple bites & pass on..we bond & enjoy good food.. I forage blackberries as they eat the foliage, not the berries, so we have fun in the briers! I also enjoy the grape leaves, wild strawberries..& of course we all love the garden..good life with good friends & good food is universal.. 😋❤🦌 I can't speak for your blacktail deer, but my Zow let me follow her fawns' full development..perhaps you too will get the chance! That little girl is adorable! Everyone was calm & happy! They might let you follow them more over time, being with them more than in front of them.. I walk in the path taken by the matriarch, a sign of submitting respect to her authority & intentions. Family travels the same path. I've learned so much from my friends, it is amazing to gain understanding of their world & ways.. I enjoyed this moment, but now I have to find some apples...lol😄 Be well my friend!

    • Wonderful story! You sound like you’ve got a similar thing as me going on. Sounds like you’ve been at it awhile too. I’ve lived here eleven years but this is the first time I’ve been able to have this close of a relationship. I credit the humble apple. It’s brought us altogether in such a magical way. The grains being consistently given out has also helped. I’m learning a lot about them too. I’d love to reach a point where we all wander together. That would be something else. I have run across them in the woods and we’ve hung out a bit there. My fields are vast so there’s lots of wandering room there. I’m very much looking forward to summer to see how many new fawns there will be. I’m hoping they’ll come around regularly and I can watch them grow up. • Deer are such docile, gentle and essentially trusting creatures, so lovely. Yet, they can be a nuisance. Although I live in Philadelphia, I have encounters with them often as there are many in outlying areas of the city. Chestnut Hill, Mount Airy and Northern Germantown have plenty of them, and they're numerous in Fairmont Park and the Navy Yard, both of which aren't very far from Center City. I've even seen a couple young, apparently lost bucks in the Tacony neighborhood, which is a totally developed area. And, I travel fairly often to the Finger Lakes in New York where there's deer all over the place. I find them adorable to look at...

    • Where I live, there doesn’t seem to be any signs of overpopulation. Perhaps because there is so much land around here for them to roam. A huge amount of woodlands is owned by the local lumber mill and it just goes on for miles up the mountain. Occasionally you have them darting out into the road but it’s rare. Generally, people around here love the deer. The only thing you can’t really do around here if your yard is not fenced is grow roses or vegetables. At least openly. They just can’t resist that stuff. There have been times where my roses are just starting to bloom and I’m feeling like I’m going to have some nice ones, and then the next day I’ve got nothing but bare stems sticking up. And tomatoes? Forget it unless you grow on the deck, and believe it or not I’ve had some times when the deer have come up on the deck to eat the tomatoes. Oh well. I love having them in my life so I do what I can to just not let that bug me. 🤕

I think they might be going through a territorial thing and some are hitting the road. Last night only two showed up. I could be wrong and they might just be doing other raccoon things but I’m getting that feeling. Of those that choose to remain, there will be reproduction come June so that will be interesting to see all the new little ones. 🦝🦝🦝🦝🌝🦝🦝🦝🎩

Sure, they love a walking, slicing apple tree that talks and laughs, but we genuinely have some beautiful quiet times where we just enjoy its others company. I can stop slicing apples and just look at them and they just look back and look around and listen. I’d love to be able to hear and process sound like they do with their directional ears! 🍀🍄🍀

The only creature I don’t encourage is the coyote. Don’t want my cats snatched by them. But all the rest are incredible to see. • Yeah, it is really nice to be with them. Not my first time. That’s my hill and kind of the central hub for most deer activity. It’s a cool hill. Amazing sounds all around from creatures everywhere. The Mother and her fawn are the most forward and fearless but that took awhile. Now they practically bowl me over if I’m not slicing fast enough! The Twins are always the outliers. They never hand feed but they’re amazingly cool in their own ways and strike the coolest poses while listening. Always listening. The fields and the forests are alive with sound and they take it all in. Thanks for stopping by. 🌻🌾🐇🎩
