  • Punches aren’t just your arms. A true punch is throughout your whole body

  • Mike Tyson said it once - leverage, speed, and the shoulder snap make the KO. And the punch you did not see coming. He punches so hard that people literally fly off when Mike lands. Even today, at 56, you see his whole body moves with explosion for the punch.

  • Makes a lot of sense with Pacquiao. His calves are huge.

  • This is called the kinematic sequence, it can be applied to any sport, and is the way the human body can generate the most amount of speed. It is generally applied to golf, but when you break it down it can be applied to any athletic movement that requires generating as much speed and power as possible. The whip analogy is spot on, essentially turning your body into a whip.

  • If you want to see the absolute best boxer at taking advantage of the Kinetic Chain in history, nobody, and I mean nobody did it better than Mike Tyson at his prime. Every single bob and weave coiled his whole body to it's maximum, so when he unloaded, every single punch was fast, and a power punch. It's what made him such a dangerous heavyweight. He was one of the smallest, and was impossible to hit. And his coiled punches made him the hardest puncher in the ring with everyone he faced.

  • i practice kickboxing for nearly 2 years, and it is crazy how much you use your hips to give extra power behind that punch or kick.
