Pure pleasure for the eyes and soul. What a player. Today some people talk about Halland or Mbappé, but please these players are far away from Zidane, Messi, Ronaldo, Benzema. I feel no emotion or pleasure watching Halland or Mbappé, they don't have the technical quality, vision of the game, the football IQ, the quality of pass or dribbling of the mentionned players. The current football level is less impressive, expect the speed of few players all the other aspects of the game are less strong than before the period 1995-2018, especially the national teams who are very mediocre; the 2018 was one of the worst in term of quality, Germany, Spain, Bresil, Italy were very weak.

Don't get me wrong, Zidane is one of the very best players of all time and one of the best technicians I've seen with his touch and close control on the ball, and one of the greatest at ball retention, and his talent, elegance, and wizardry in possession were almost unmatched, so I don't mean any disrespect with this comment, and it's a nice compilation to show that he faced the best and did well in a really competitive and tactical era. However, while Zizou did humiliate a lot of great players throughout his career (defenders especially, as shown here with Maldini, Nesta, Cannavaro, Cafu, Desailly, Roberto Carlos, etc.), and he won everything and performed in big games, I wouldn't call all of these instances humiliation either. It seems a bit excessive with some of the clips, especially given the overall context of a few of the games on here, where he wasn't quite at his best (the Euro 2000 and 2006 World Cup finals) aside from a few flashes of his brilliance, even though he still always did well either to keep the ball or win a foul in this compilation if he couldn't advance or create something. In a few of these plays, obviously the only ways defenders could stop him from advancing further and causing even more danger was to foul him, but sometimes that was also their intention, to commit a tactical foul (obviously some aren't and just happen because they fail to get the ball because Zidane beat them), so while it wasn't the best outcome as they gave their opponents the ball, I don't think it was failure either on their part in these situations. And in others he was also forced to retreat or pass it back, but obviously keeping the ball was the important part, it's just that I wouldn't call those instances humiliation either as they did impede him from progressing to an extent. And some of these star players weren't really renowned for defending either to be fair.

You can mess with Pele, Maradona, or Messi, but you can't mess with Zidane. No matter how tough you are, no matter how rough your game is, Zidane will always hold the ball and poke you. Zidane is the only player who plays badly because of himself, not because of pressure or bad tackles from other players. Look at this 6:30. Stankovic, Pancaro, Veron, Almeyda are Lazio's pitbulls when they won Serie A, and Zidane treated them like toys. You can also see how Gatusso repeatedly used his physical strength to beat Zidane, but nothing worked. Zidane is a pure monster.
