This is a native ray tracing implementation and not a reshade mod.
Even with real-time ray tracing still being in its infancy, I believe RT will become more important with current and coming generation hardware, so I created this channel with the intention of covering ray-traced games. There are plenty of channels doing mainly performance comparisons, my intention is to focus on the visual aspect and make the differences more obvious through my videos.

  • RT shadows is a big improvement in some areas. Like the beginning of Miami, the security station's overhanging roof section doesn't cast any shadow with RT off, but it does with RT on.

    • Metro exodus required artists to go in and redo all the lighting in every scene. Something of that quality will only be common when raytracing is the default in the first place and not something you have to be able to turn off for consoles and low end hardware. The closest we'll get for some time will likely be unreal engine 5 games, but even that won't quite be the same

    • This is something i find in most if not all games with RTX, this is just not how reality behaves. Everything that is wet, does not become super shiny like a mirror, nor does all windows or glass surfaces instantly become shiny mirrors. It must be an issue they have trouble with fixing, because more realistic and thus less reflective would give the user higher fps? one would assume.

  • It's a real shame devs made it impossible to activate RT Shadows on older GPUs like Pascal series. I had 0 problems running RT stuff in CONTROL or, say, official Nvidia RTX Attic Demo, but not here, the options are greyed out and impossible to tick in the menus (just like in F1 2021, sadly). No way to force RT in config files either (yet again, just like in F1 2021, however, from what I could gather H3 doesn't even have a dedicated cfg file relying on Windows registry instead). It's a damn shame because if I want to see ray tracing effects - just let me do so, dang it! No matter the perf hit, I know what I want and I know it better than devs do. But alas, devs keep doing things like this without actually asking players like me.

    • If I may answer, it is because as the source of a shadow gets farther away from what the shadow is casting on, it will get blurrier. Eg: a tree, where the sun is low; near the base it will be 'sharp' but farther down the road where the shadow goes, it will get 'softer'. I personally don't like the sharp shadows of RT... too goofy looking and the reflections are distracting, like there is 'another space' behind windows, etc. It needs to all be softer it seems

    • The problem isn't ray tracing, it's the fact that the materials were designed with cubemaps in mind. Cubemaps are blurry, so they probably turn down the roughness (hence making everything look shinier) to counter the effects and make it look realistic. But when you introduce ray tracing, which is physically accurate, all the materials will look too shiny due to the the way they were designed.

    • @@pixels_per_inch surely there's improvement in the game makes it more desirable the question is the players who finished the game numerous times are they gonna be excited or too bored as there no new levels, the blood pools that npc leaves don't make any smudges when you walk on them moreover, after you shoot someone in the head there's a red mark on their face for sure and after you take their clothes the red mark on their face disappears as they are no longer been shot in the head? With all the blood splatters and spills when you shoot npcs against walls it makes you believe that they really mastered the graphics but no... The hitman code is done exactly like In hitman codename 47 from year 2000 22 years ago and what a shame, now they are pulling the ray tracing card on the fans making them loon at shiny walls and wannabe shadows from exterior buildings which no one cared about. But hey the game is perfectly repayable so let's just reload sapienza again with a bit sharper graphics again for the 3rd time 😂😂😂😂💜 like I can go on and ask the question, did no one hired anyone in the graphics department to make the game more realistic and make the blood behave better is it something to do with effects? Or 2022 isn't a good od year to spend and invest some of their so called advertised surprisingly well off made profits from the success of the third release of the game leaving players wait 4-5 days at launch day before they can access their online account avoiding disconnects

Without ray tracing, get about 80 fps, 100 fps with DLSS. Interestingly, GPU only shows 80% use. Does change some scenes quite a bit though.

    • Yeah dude wait 5 years or so and RT will be much more commonplace, it's still a relatively unoptimized feature in most games, but the technology is always making leaps and bounds and being implemented into more games. However, right now it's not really worth the insane cost and performance hit, just for some mostly unnoticeable changes in lighting, shading, and reflections. Also rasterized lighting such as in RDR2 is improving quite a bit so there will always be less taxing alternatives.

    • When a game has decent pre-computed probe based GI not having RTGI isnt a problem, RTGI biggest wins are wen you compare to games that relly on more simple rasterisation tecniques, generaly found on games that are open world or with a dinamic time of day, but for titles like this that have a static time of day their biggest improvements really come from reflections and shadows.

    • @@DTunezOfficial I think your observation is reasonable, but just to give some context.. It's not that the reflections are too strong, It's that the glass material is too "perfect".. In real life, glass has subtle scratches, dirts, & spots on its surface, and all of those create a slightly more muted reflection.. This game is not created/textured with RT in mind, thus the glass surfaces don't have those imperfections.

GTA 5 is an example of effort and it is many years old already. Same marketing trick like with the 500hz monitor and them using the same video they used to compare 30 vs 60 vs 144fps before. My comment is underrated !
