    • @@Axelfl6161Yep! Last spring I was on a public beach, and someone's off-leash German shepherd started showing signs of aggression towards me. I couldn't leave as it was blocking the exit. "Don't worry, he's a big baby, he doesn't bite or attack", the owner said cheerfully and didn't even come to get his dog. A few seconds later the dog was on me, trying to bite through my scarf and thick jacket. The owner didn't even come get the dog then, he was just going "omg what's wrong with you" at his dog while it's attacking me. Took him way longer than it should to come pull his dog off me. Thankfully I was physically okay, my clothes were too thick for the dog's teeth to get through. They never bite... until they do. Then it's too late.

    • People with dogs have to understand that their temperament can change easily without warning. So even though owners may say "my dog won't bite", they should take into consideration that they could very well go into attack mode with a different person or people. I am a dog sitter and work at an animal shelter, and I have been with dogs that are fine with me and their owners however, they may not trust others and snap. Always be careful when approaching dogs or even cats.

I stayed with our groomer to keep her comforted and make sure she’s safe. With me there she learned to trust her groomer and she loves people anyways. She gets monthly grooms and she’s a German Shepard/ husky which means she’s got to go through more than a normal groom. She’s fluffy and her coat needs tons of attention. The only thing they have to worry about is her licking them to death😂😂

    • Well, I kinda get it. it probably wasn't said like "oh it's fine she won't bite" ... it was probably something more like "She will growl and bark a whole lot, but she hasn't bit anyone so far" -- knowing how an animal typically vocalizes is fairly important. It's good to always assume that they'll be more dangerous than you expect, but, for example, knowing that Cookie is a drama queen who will scream the whole time gives you a suggestion of where 'normal' is. Knowing that Zelda will probably growl like a motorcycle the whole time, gives vanessa the baseline that there *will* be snarling, and to not be surprised when Zelda starts trying to voice act in a horror movie, whereas going in unprepared might lead to a hard stop to the grooming when it's not strictly needed. (that said, I am also the one who hands my cat to the vet and says "She'll bite, so be careful")(They were careful, and from he told us, had a very polite conversation where he said "I"m just going to take some blood" and she said "Okay, I am going to hold your finger in my mouth." and he said "Okay you can keep your blood." and she permitted him to keep his finger.)

    • @@jenetikitty Yeah, I don't take my dog to the big pet stores for their grooming services for this kind of reason. She's as sweet of a shopper as you please, especially when they're giving her treats. She's quiet and more interested in sniffing everything than being rowdy. However, as a half shar pei and half husky mix, clipping her nails is a nightmare and she does get mouthy. I would rather groomers have protection in place than spare my feelings about putting a muzzle on my dog. She's never *bitten*, but gives warning nibbles and did put her whole mouth on my arm when I was trying to keep her still as the groomer at the vet tried clipping her nails after she slipped the muzzle. She is extremely wriggly which is not helped by the extra shar pei skin.

  • My impression as someone who's more of a cat person was that she seemed angry, but not scared. So maybe her owners were correct. I still think the muzzle was a wise precaution, because the fact that she wouldn't bite her owners or family friends doesn't necessarily mean she wouldn't bite a stranger.

My 10 year old Mally always gets the adornment, “He’s the best malamute I’ve ever groomed” even with the ticklish paws lol. Would love for him to make it in a video to see what he’s really like but we live in the Pacific NW and that’s pretty far. Even with how much he loves road trips lol.
