The dog is 13yos and looking happy and healthy in every other way and clearly has a loving bond with its owner. @ixizn@ixizn2 ай бұрын
    • @@ronallen6578 Be careful you don't fall from that high up on a horse - you might bruise your ego on the way down. That being said, it certainly isn't ideal to let any dog get into this shape. Malamutes are a huge commitment in time and effort, and the bad experiences with groomers certainly don't help. A dog that large can be hard to groom if they're uncooperative. Dogs can and will injure themselves and others if they get too scared or panicked, regardless of their size. This danger only compounds as they age. Vanessa even says in the video that most groomers wouldn't take a job like this. She's made it clear that she's in a unique position to do jobs like these because of her experience, and the success of her channel and products. Your empathy for the dog is commendable, and I'm glad you treat your own dogs with the care they need, but be careful about judging others for circumstances you don't know about.

If there's one thing you pick up watching these videos from her, it's that a lot of the dogs that pass her gate and are "a mess" are dogs passed around by groomers for being difficult. Finding a groomer that doesn't abuse your dog (or any other animal) is like trying to find someone to take care of your older relatives that won't abuse them or neglect them. Old age sucks for everyone involved.

      @aserta@asertaАй бұрын
    • @@asertasorry, but that’s not the case with owning any dog. You should never buy a dog if your not prepared, or made preparations to be responsible for it, for its entire lifetime. That’s why there are so many Rescue centres around the would. People buy dogs on a whim. Oh! Isn’t it cute, or I love that bred of dog, or many other ridiculous reasons. Before taking ownership of a dog, research, research & research. Then make allowances for all the things that you will need to pay for during its decade plus life span. Most dog owners, hopefully would never allow their children to have matted hair, or be flea ridden. So don’t allow your dog to become like the one in this video. That said, I’m glad the owner brought this dog to this groomer, for whatever reason. Maybe he just rescued it recently?

When I held her or when she was wet from a bath, it was obvious that she wasn't overweight at all. But because she looked so fluffy, it was understandable that onlookers often couldn't tell. I think her hair made her 4 lb body look like she was a whole 2 lbs heavier. 😂 But she was actually smaller than her sister, who had thinner hair and longer legs but was the same weight.

Of course he meant business once he started biting, though. Vanessa always does such a great job with these puppers. 😊 Also? That's a whole other dog his coat blew!😮

  • I used to watch another groomer who was an "always always shave first" type of groomer. I'm not saying they are wrong. They need to do what they feel is best for the dogs and their business. However, after watching all the videos of you saving coat after coat by just giving the dogs a bath and a chance, it really makes me feel that your way is the better road for the dogs. The fact that these youtube channels allow you to give full free grooming sessions to these dogs that would otherwise lose their coats, is so amazing to know. Bless you and the gentle hands you do so much good with, I hope more groomers find ways to do similar so even more dogs get to walk away from unfortunate situations with their healthy coats intact.

    • @@user-lk5ud7ux7l yeh totally agree, that hair is just gonna grow back, its already too long, so a shave would of been way more beneficial. but its for the channel and she is an expert at saving coats etc so although not pratical in this instance its still miles better than nothing and its free. if the owner now gets a proper schedule in place with normal groomers it will be 100x easier for the groomers.

      @TheInnerSession@TheInnerSessionАй бұрын
    • @@TheInnerSession This is a double coated dog--if shaved the fur is permanently damaged. It will actually cause their undercoat to grow FASTER, and damage their ability to withstand cold and heat in the future. It will also leave them prone to sunburns and skin issues. If this was a poodle or Maltese, etc, then yes, shaving is the best way to prevent stress and get them on a regular grooming schedule. But it would ultimately just make the work harder for the owners and the next groomer if he was shaved this time without it being 100% necessary.
