  • Fifty years from now this is going to be on a barn find channel. And here we found a 675LT. That was a British supercar manufacturer that went out of business in the 30's. There are a couple of Ferraris, several Lamborghinis... and a lot of vintage parts. This guy was a hoarder that was famous on KZhead in the twenties.

  • Parts hoarding ABSOLUTELY pays! My first car was a 77 Firebird, and sadly, it got damaged in a fire, and the damage was beyond my abilities. I sold all the spare parts I had accumulated over 10 or so years. Sold an engine, suspension stuff, just anything I had. I was able to dump all that cash into the 97 Firebird Formula my wife found for me the night my 77 was burned. Ended up getting a new transmission, tires, and all sorts of deferred maintenance taken care of! I have been daily driving that car for a little over a year now, and have put on almost 20k miles on it.

If you go into "Advanced Search" settings you can search for "Sold Items" which would give you a more accurate baseline

  • Decades ago there was a TV show called Monster Garage, where each episode a team of mechanics would undertake a weird car project (turn a Mustang into a lawn mower) in a week or so on a limited budget. It was like two episodes in when someone had the brilliant idea of increasing the budget by selling the parts they were taking off of the base vehicle. I'm not saying clear off your shelves, but yes that collection needs a bit of pruning. Parts that you are probably never going to use, for cars you don't own and have no plans to acquire, should be turned into increased budgets for the projects you already have or would like to have. "So, I sold an old transmission and now I can afford to get this reupholstered." "I sold that engine and bought this car because I've always wanted one. This needs some work, but ..."

  • For an accurate idea of what things are REALLY worth. You need to check the SOLD & COMPLETED listings. Sellers can ask whatever they want for items. That doesn't mean they'll get it. Some stuff may be listed for years if the asking price is too high. Ebay also gets 12.55% seller fee on the grand total (Item, Shipping & Tax).

    @kewrock@kewrock Жыл бұрын
    • Normally I’d agree with what you are saying, but Ferrari, lambo and the JDM engines really are that much, because the stuff from the factory is high. Even exotic auto recycling charges 20-30k for an engine. The charger and more mundane parts is what ever you can get someone to pay. Spot on on what eBay nails you for fees. Why I don’t sell on eBay anymore. I have better luck just listing the items I want to sell on Craig’s list or Facebook buy sell trade listings

  • One of the biggest resources you could win back is the Space. If you leave out things which are due to go into projects & just sold the rest - just think of the space you get back. Because that also matters. You could sell off the rest & buy nicer toys (or tools which would be my choice).

  • Do a follow-up video showing you actually listed and sold everything. I think you'd be shocked how much room you'll have not to mention money to complete current projects and fund some future projects.

  • Definitely sell the parts, clean up the garage and it would be great to have an update or updates on the project you have in the shop. The Wizard does it with the long term projects he has. Looks like a few of the finished cars could use car covers.

  • I mean sure it can be fun to guesstimate but if i would go off the list price people are asking on ebay the parts in my garage excluding the engines would be around 113k but realistically for selling it would likely be closer to like 40k
