Porsche 911 - the world’s most successful sports car. Its rear-mounted boxer engine and classic styling are unmistakable. It combines athleticism and everyday functionality like no other vehicle. A street-legal race car.
For almost 70 years the 911 has stood for athleticism, elegance and quality. The latest version, the Porsche 992, is equipped with almost 400 hp in the basic version and costs almost a quarter of a million euros. In this documentary, racing legend Hans-Joachim Stuck takes you through the world of what is perhaps the most famous sports car.

Did the body shop, engine room, interior making, etc. I fell in love with the 993Turbo. Had to have one. So saved up, and bought one 10years ago. Absolute dream. Couldn't believe that the staff room provided one beer per man in their lunch break. Wow. There was no OHS back then for employee or visitor. It was a highlight of my life and Porsche experience. • I fell in love with the 911 while selling them at a Porsche dealership in 1982. My first 911 was a 79 930. That car nearly bankrupted me when I spun a rod on the crank while racing it. I was 26 making $1,000 a month, lol. Since then, I've had 7 of them (all used, never been able to afford a new one.). My current is a 07 911 S cab. I bought it from the original owner, he is 81 years old, so there's still hope this won't be my last 911.

    • Most engines die through people not actually “breaking” them in.

      @thewiizard@thewiizard2 жыл бұрын
    • @@thewiizard No they dont. Most people dont even know there is a recommended break-in process outlined in their owner's manual. Car manufacturers know this, that is why most engines are already tested ahead of time when they are produced. Besides modern engines are built with much more accurate tolerances than they were even 20 years ago and the rings get broken in almost immediately when tested at the factory. The transmission, suspension and brakes require more break-in these days than the engine does.

After track days and boiling the brakes on the occasional Porsche Club track days, I feel quite sorry for the incredible punishment that it often endures, especially when boiling the fluid and loosing brakes after ~50 minutes of hard racing. Yet after cooling down, (using the standard callipers) it is perfect again. It's still immaculate after all these years and all I can say. • 25:40 this is magic to my eyes. This sort of amazing video make my heart beat. I love engines and industrial as well. I want to do mecanics ! That is great that Porsche is about to release the safari. Porsche was always there. As a certainty. I had luck to have done a passenger ride with the legendary braking. I always prefered american muscle v8 but the porsche is so sofisticated, different and iconic that it will enter into my dream garage for sure.

  • Gonna get hate for this, but: Everyone in this documentary forgot the Corvette exists. It's been around since 1953 - 10 years earlier, and I'd argue is more "well known" than the 911. I love the 911, but I had to point it out.

    • If they forgot that Corvette exists, it’s hard to argue that it is “more well known” 😂. I would suggest that it is not more well known outside USA. Also, Corvette has gone through more iterations where only the name was basically carried over, not the whole design concept. Now it’s mid-engined even, in no way recognizable to C1…or C7 for that matter. Now put a gen 1 911 next to the current model…

  • this is hands down my all time favorite car....i wil never have the pleasure to own or even drive one! ive never even seen one up close. some people are so blessed...they even have multiples of these super cars...enviable for sure! im sure some of them dont even realize just how lucky they really are. its art in motion to say the least! from its beautiful form to its awe inspiring sound...the 911 is an engineering masterpiece! there is none like it! If only the average person could also experience them...but sadly, like many luxuries only the wealthy have that privaledge !

    • There are Porsche experience centers in Atlanta and Los Angeles where you can get to drive these cars. Also most dealerships have a rental program. It’s still not cheap, but you can get behind the wheel of Porsche even if just for a couple of hours or days.
