Watch me make a brick hammer from scratch. A somewhat challenging project as I tried to match a given weight and size. It turned out ok I think.

That's what you call a "Tool For Life" . As someone who has trained in metalworking (5 years apprenticeship) I can appreciate your art/craftsmanship.
I’m a geologist in the US. This type of hammer in the US is called a Masons Hammer and I have found this to be a much more useful shape to use in exploring rocks than a rock hammer. The downside of yours is that it’s beautiful and I wouldn’t want to mess it up. Amazing work.
Ah, nice! I used to pick mineral samples at old mines here in Sweden. I think a ordinary geologist hammer is harder and this one would probably wear quite fast.
I was gona comment that it’s good for geology too.
This is would be good for soft rocks only. For hard rocks, you really need a traditional geologist's hammer.
@@tednelson5277 True, the needle nose
@@torbjornahman can't you temper 4340 for higher hardness?
One of my absolute favorite parts of all your videos is that once the tool is finished you always show us how it's used. It's so satisfying seeing a thing be made, and then utilized for its intended purpose.
Thanks!!
It's in the title. It's a brick hammer.
@@chrisis9030 what? Idk what you're talking about man. I just clicked on a mukbang video and wanted to compliment the charming Swedish man who went through all that effort.
@@theoptimisticmetalhead7787 Yeah, I thought as much
Finished like a high end Swiss watch. Beautiful!
Love the fact your tools are always so aesthetic yet functional. It clearly demonstrates you're an artist as well as a craftsman
Thank you!
Good craft is an art. It took some time, but my dad's yelling "put that hammer back from where you took it after you finish!" payed off. Maybe it takes a bit longer to focus on details, but shortcuts usually takes twice as much time 😆 With a pretty and handy tool, work is much more satisfying. At the end, if you can show your work and be proud of it (or at least if you can say "it's my creation" without a shame), it means you put a bit of heart in that. And if someone else works on your machine or with your tools, they can sense this. Very often i can see if someone putting a machine together cared, or just wanted to make his/hers job done and forget about it. If i see wires in the electrical cabinet neatly put in cable trays, if connectors are crimped nicely, i can bet this cabinet will have much higher chance of functioning properly for many years, because someone who made it, simply cared about work. And this makes my job easier when I'm searching for a problem.🙂
He's also that rarest of things - a metal worker who can do woodwork!
@@paulwomack5866 Oooo sorry, a good blacksmith should always know how to haft his tools. And he is a good one 😁

45 seconds into this video and I subscribed. Why? Two reasons: You're dramatic (which I love) and you showed how to start a coal fire. I hit the bell because you're NOT a blacksmith, you're an artist of metal.
:) Thank you!
I'm forever in awe at how clean your work is at every stage of the build, it's a joy to watch you in action Torbjorn!
He is a true master of his craft, and amazing filming/editing skills!
@@tbrowniscool Absolutely, I'm an experienced woodworker and I've made and fitted what seems like a hundred hammer handles over the years and I still learned a couple of little tricks from him. Thank you for sharing your skills Torbjorn, my life is richer for it!
Wow, thank you so much Pablo.
@@torbjornahman Your videos are so relaxing. I'm going through a bad time right no and I get so much relaxation watching you work. Have you ever forged an axe head before?

I have known this tool as a mason's hammer for 60 years I still have my great grandfather's
I keep on watching your videos all day...Love from India🇮🇳♥️
The geometry of this head is so pleasing
Spectacular Brick Hammer !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As I watch you make pieces like this I often muse "How many generations of the Ahman family will use this hammer and think of the man who made it and the wonderful craftmanship that went into it." You not only make beautiful tools you make legacies that will outlive you !
I'm a bricklayer by trade myself and that looks like a 5 star working tool
Thank you!
Blacksmith and (almost) black cat. Great work. Thanks!
Another beautiful masterpiece
It's HAMMER Time, @torbjornahman!
A beauty to behold ...
I really liked the synergy between you and your cat. Such tenderness and mutual trust. Combined with the brute force of the blacksmith's trade, that's kind of unusual.
I love hammers. I have a collection of hammers. I've made several little ones. I would love to smith some hammers, but I suck at forging, and never seem to have enough time in the day to work on it. I would work at night once it's cool, but it's really loud... Maybe I can finally make a stand for my forge soon, so I don't have to kneel when i work... that and chaining my anvil down to a stump.
Magnificent works magnificent forge tools tidy it's not like Mr. Borax lol film us again your garden with the birds it's amazing
Good job on the hammer!
J’adore le travail que vous faites! I love the work you do! Jag älskar jobbet du gör!
Forgot how relaxing it ts watching you create a beautiful tool with excellent videography. Almost perfect symmetry and balance with a beautiful piece of ash custom fit!! Made my Day Torbjorn, Thank You for all you bring to the community!!
PJ you always spoil me with your kind words! Thank you!
The peace depicted on your videos could make the world a better place
That hammer is for the museum!
So glad to see a new video from you. Thanks!
Beautiful piece of kit
It seems that a lot of craftsman have a love for cats. I see this often. I love cats as well. All pets. Yours looks a lot like my previous Clarabelle. Great work. Beautiful hammer.
Torbjorn’s work is beautiful off the power hammer and the anvil. Gosh I love watching it. 💕💕. JC🌵
That hammer is a master piece! It was amazing!! 😊❤
I'd SMILE every time I put my hand on that tool! It's simply georgeous, and a fine & wonderful thing! Thanks for the pleasing video too, w/your cat & your bird feeder !

Great pleasure to watch and learn! Thanks a lot!
Truly amazing. To pretty to use
I love seeing you turn a piece of metal into a handy tool.
Your videos have to be the best smithing videos on youtube in terms of sheer technical skill and production value
SPECTACULAR ! i don't even do brick work , but i want one . 👍👍👍
Very nice and beautiful work ❤❤❤❤❤
When I was a boy we had an older gentleman that lived across the road from us that was a brick mason. My dad had him build a large brick area in which to plant bushes. I watched him build it of course. He was more of an artist than craftsman. The end of your video reminded me of days gone by.
Like all metal work, the never ending cycle of making round things square, and square things round. Beautiful work as usual! 👍 😃
Ha ha, exactly, and for that matter finding the right tongs... the endless struggle.
A piece of art.
Beautiful work and beautiful video, thank you very much, I send you a hug from the south of Argentina.
watching you punch a hole in that piece like it was play dough made my day
What a treat to watch!
Thank You Mr. T for Sharing your skills.
Gorgeous!!!
Great video, as always. takes me back to blacksmithing school...wow...20 years ago this year
Another work of art.
Again: impeccable!!!
Who would have thought a "Brick Hammer" could be a work of art? One made by Thunder Bear Excellent work 👍👍👍 . Thank you for sharing. Take care of yourself 🇨🇦
:) Thanks!!
Nicely done, both the hammer and the video!
Thank you kindly!
Hermoso trabajo, me encanta mirar sus videos. Muchas gracias por compartir todas sus creaciones. Otra cosa, adoro su gato. Cordial saludo desde Montevideo, Uruguay. Beautiful work, I love watching your videos. Thank you so much for sharing all your creations. Another thing, I adore your cat. Cordial greetings from Montevideo, Uruguay.
I always enjoy seeing your videos when they come up. All too often in this arena people make a video more about themselves than the subject at hand. You sir have truly nailed it!
Thanks!
Gonna need a playlist of you making every type of hammer in existence.
I don't need one, I don't have any bricks that need hammering. But I now want a brick hammer.
Thanks for the Great Video!!👍👍
First time I was brought to your channel and happy to find it!
Cool, thanks!!
I'm not sure if I'm more impressed with your forging or your wood work , both are amazing 👍
Perfect job!!!!!
As a bricklaying instructor and a long time fan of your videos I wholeheartedly approve of this one 👍
Very cool! Thank you!
This made me so happy to see because I am a mason. And this is what I have inspirations on starting making brick hammers and chisels . Hopefully some of the guys at work will buy some ! 😊 Thank you 🙏
Cool! Thanks
As always sir well done!
Very well done!
Beautiful
Beautiful !
Everything you do becomes a work of art! I really love, what I saw as a Swedish flag at the top of the hammer, but I guess some/most people may just say it's a cross and a smart way to secure the hammer to the handle, but to me it was an obvious flag AND a beautiful way to secure the hammer + handle :) I may just be homesick, even though I'm only in the country "next door" (Norway). Your videos bring so much joy! Thank you for that.
😊 Thank you!!
Très beau travail tu et un artiste
What a true Craftsman a like would be hard to find, a real joy to watch from start to finish.👍
Fint ! Awesome.
Great work, as always......
Quality work on all fronts, product and picture

That has to be the most refined handle you’ve made to date!!!
Id be afraid to use it it’s so nice. Those chamfers are a work of art

Love that black and decker palm sander , had mine for years, great little tool
The work you do is outstanding and now I know how to cut bricks. Thanks!
I love your work because my grandfather in this work
Красивая работа! You have gold hands!👍👍👍👍👍👍
The work of a true artisan. Thanks for letting us watch you do your magic!
As always a work of art. You inspire me a lot sir. Thank you. A follower from 🇩🇿🇩🇿🇩🇿
The best thing about a die grinder with a carbide burr is all the tiny little metal chips it throws around at about twice the speed of light everywhere. And you get to find them in your hair and beard when you take a shower. It's like a spicy little surprise in your hair.
:) I know! It's fun, isn't it?!
Just awesome everything you make is just amazing
Any craftsman would be delighted to use a hammer like that. An absolute gem!❤
Any brick would be glad to be broken in half by it too!
Beautiful hammer brick 🔨 watching 👀 from south africa 🇿🇦
Hello from the USA. What a gorgeous hammer. So nice I would never want to use it. 😃
Ah! Love seeing my states flag! Us Marylanders love our flag lol. Great work on the hammer, as always!
What a beautiful job you have made of that hammer.
