    • The reason American Football is popular in the US is because Rugby was effectively banned in the US for being too dangerous, so they developed American football, but as others point out, the pads mean you feel much safer hitting harder despite the shock is still causing the same damage. Different tackles as well, Rugby players go at an angle for the legs "Tripping" the other player, US football players usually go for straight on blocking tackles using sheer mass.

  • You could see with the tackles, they were taking it soft. But the technique and aim was on point. At 12:45, you see that he's aiming behind. Really, you choose your moment, aim slightly in front to lead the collision, and end up starting your tackle at center mass then as the initial impact dissipates, pulling them down to your side. If you take it late, you're trying to pull them down with your elbow, which is way off your center of gravity and you end up putting all the force into your forearm and fingers; not nearly as strong as your chest and shoulders.

  • 14:30 Rugby already IS super popular in North Carolina! More so in much of the rest of the US I'd say. UNC Charlotte, NC State, and ECU all went to nationals in the club level last 7s season and we're gearing up for 15s starting real soon. Around Charlotte, there are also many different clubs open to the public at varying levels starting from pickup leagues to clubs that are out there practicing 5 times a week. Heck, many high schools are now starting to adopt the sport into their athletics too. This aided by the fact we have a pretty decent rugby sportsplex in the area. Even South Carolina teams are solid so shout out to them. But shout out to you guys too, I really gotta give big ups for promoting the sport even further! P.S - when I first started watching your videos and saw that you guys went to inner peaks climbing gym it absolutely blew my mind Haha I love that place.

I thought I would be happy once I turned 10 and started playing with rugby togs, we thought it would be better.... then we learned that if you fall on the ground with the ball, the other team will basically run on top of you and "rake" the flesh off your bones hahahaha in the frost!!
