Joe Rogan and Jon Bernthal discuss how Jon began his acting career. Jon attended, allegedly, the best school for acting and it wasn't even located in the US. This high-quality acting school is what eventually led to such prestigious roles such as Shane rom TWD and Frank from The Punisher.
Jon Bernthal is an actor known for such roles as Sheriff's Deputy Shane Walsh in "The Walking Dead," vigilante Frank Castle in "The Punisher," and more recently, corrupt cop Wayne Jenkins in HBO's miniseries, "We Own This City." Bernthal is also the host of the weekly interview podcast series "REAL ONES with Jon Bernthal."

Such a breathe of fresh air to see a celebrity that's so humble and down to earth nowadays if you ran into him on a sidewalk hes actually this guy
Everyone’s “down to earth “ these days though. That’s a tired played out trope. Thing about Jon is that he’s humble but ALSO real and continuously seeks to be better. So many people are fake and stop improving when they hit a certain point in life.
@@calebray4168 not everyone is down to earth these days theres alot of snobby stuck up people up there with that kinda crowd
And so refreshing to see how pig ignorant Rogan is about the planet outside of U.S. borders. Like he thinks the best of everything is in the USA when in reality, the best of most things is outside of the U.S.
He could have been the dude i hang out with when i was 20. My kind of guy.

I Learned in Russia like him, but in Saint Petersbourg! and all he said is 100% true. The training. The life. Beauty and brutality at the same time. nice definition. Tobakov his master was a famous actor, director and teacher, and he ruled the Art Theater of Moscou for 20 years
How difficult is it to get into that theatre?

John Bernthal is an absolute treasure. And so are all of you
Such a well spoken and well knowledgable bloke, wouldn’t think it from his roles but Jon is an incredibly humble and honest dude
Everyone mentions how good an actor he is or how down-to-earth. But he’s also so thoughtful.
Holy shit! I didn't know Jon Bernthal was trained by Oleg Tabakov. He's like a theater and movie godfather in Russia.
"You can't protect her Rick, you can't protect her".

He such a great actor that i can't think nor want anyone else to play The Punisher. He is the Punisher. His others roles are fantastic too but he is the best version of Frank Castle.
Everyone forgot Dolph Lundgren's Punisher in the 90s, and that was faithful to the dark comic.

One of the best interview of Joe Rogan
"Let 'em watch, let 'em watch."
Amazing insight into the origins of modern acting! No wonder Jon is a superb actor.
I'm just imagining The Punisher cracking out some Ballet🕺 😂
Laugh if you want but some dancers are hard core athletes you need to be very strong to do what they do and graceful and they must have a high tolerance for pain I was selling shoes in my early twenties and this pretty woman came in and when I saw her feet all mangled and bruised and she told me she was a ballet dancer I was horrified those pretty slippers of theirs only have cardboard in them and they putting all their body weight and twirling around in them.
@@annalisavajda252 I think you're overthinking my comment
Jon is a great dude. Good on you brother.
Rogan should get Stallone on sometime. That would be an epic conversation
I would like to hear that, but Rogan sometimes asks pretty personal questions and Stallone tends to bullshit or answer "diplomatically" sometimes if the conversation gets uncomfortable. For example, there is a clip of him and Arnold walking out of a lunch spot in LA and the TMZ guy asked them about smoking weed. Stallone said they didn't and Arnold immediately says they did and Stallone sorta gives an embarrassed smile.
@@Mr-E.Haha arnie the goat
Such an interesting interview!!
Jon needs to get in the gym and put on the pun 💀 shirt and give e us what he he did for the show but now make it for the movies! Punisher needs to show up in the spiderman/venom movie and later in the mcu..unbelievable beauty with unbelievable brutality. That's punisher and this guy's gets it
It's the same with Russian Art School. 7 years of rigorous training in painting from life. Non of the bollocks they teach in mainstream western art schools. Many of the best realist painters today come from Russia.
So the Shane character was really Jon's actual personality: bold, impulsive and tough! So the character really suited him.
This dude is so smart and so talented.
How do they structure what? Lmao😂lmao😂😂😂😂😂
Джон хороший человек. По крайней мере впечатление производит такое. И актёр замечательный.

Buddy of mine swears a friend of his (I know already sounds like b.s😩).. use to hang out with this dude, along with a bunch of heroin addicts. Rogan looked so stunned and upset that this beautiful place Jons talking about was in Russia 😂😂
Did they bring up him as punisher?
Stanislavsky is a legend, father of modern theater after the Greeks. read up.
TIL method acting is not sitting in your own shit and calling yourself your characters name
Can you imagine the disinterest he would have, if he were forced to spent an episode with Bert Kricher?
who
You think Kreischer (Cry-sure) is spelled as Kritcher? That would be pronounced as ''crit-chur'... I'm not a fan of the guy or most of his standup, but if you don't even know how his name is pronounced (i really hope that's the case, and not that your spelling is so bad even autocorrect gives up), can you really know enough about him and his work to draw that conclusion, or do you base your opinion off what others say about him in the comments? 🤔
@@yamahakid450f you think the ability to spell or pronounce someone's name correctly determines your ability to judge if you like them or not?
In a different podcast he says he did sign up for Introduction to Theatre, which he was told has like 150 people in it and stuff and that he was gonna drop acid and watch. So i don't understand why everyone is calling him a liar, it checks out
Jon is likable
Yep my family was old Hollywood, we had to be able to act, vaudville dance, sing, and sword fight. Line!
Old Hollywood was special. Watched tmc last night . All they had was a camera and imagination

This is why we need to divert money from the military budget. We can't allow the Russians to have actor superiority.

But you still have good interviews with people. Just don't like the turning your back on people and making them seem like the weird on. But good interviews.
Can you be at all specific? Honestly curious
@@timothyquesinberry9628 I don't know what examples Ryan had in mind, but I can give you one. On one episode, Rogan went on about how actors in Hollywood are all fake and all have narcissistic tendencies. How they will stab each other in the back and fake emotions to get what they want. A dog eat dog cutthroat world that he gets creeped out by. In the latest episode with Dave Chappelle. Chapelle tells Rogan how most of Hollywood is full of just normal people, down to earth, chill and don't have a complex. Rogan agrees with him lol. - So ya I have noticed him do that a lot with different guests.
@@timothyquesinberry9628 he's talking about the moon landing. He was totally on the right track and correctly picked it apart, then one day just took the opposite stance.
@@genox3636 you think it's strange for people to change their position on anything when they learn more about the subject? That's a positive attribute to have. Better than stubbornly holding a position
JoRo will say whatever as long as it makes his interviewee like him and not rock the boat. Very different from his Mencia bashing days.
I know Joe had once tried his hand at acting (and seemed to have had some sour grapes about it). He sure sounds absolutely clueless of the origin and basis of all modern acting people have seen and are still seeing (for the most part) to this day since the turn of the 20th century. He probably just took the opportunity and went in winging it, somehow I am not surprised. But hey it all went great for him eventually, and he stuck to his true passions.

Because you're very ignorant. But those of us that are educated know.
The Russians are sitting back watching the bs comedy that is America right now
Putin pooped his pants the other week, they’ve got plenty of their own comedy
Isn't Russia losing to Ukraine or something?
I am russian and if you are talking about politics then yes, we don't understand how can such a "democratic" country allow mentally incapable person to be its president. This is very serious but it's like nobody sees it. And if you are talking about your movies or something then I totally disagree because we all love Hollywood stuff. We can even tolerate all that woke bs if the story is good, if the movie has an effort and a soul put into it. So overall it's not all that bad. I just hope we stop fighting and live in peace at last.
@@CakeScented not really. Russia had few major setbacks but we are learning. New general Surovikin has stabilized the frontline and since the retreat from Kherson we are moving steady everyday towards the victory. The bombing of Donetsk is getting less and less every week, ukrainian and nato forces are being grinded along with their heavy weapons, Russia's economy and industry are secured so strategically speaking I'd say Russia is doing good. Loss of western community in this war is inevitable. As always.

Opening doors in Hollywood. Is it worth mentioning that along with study in Russia, Bernthal’s brother, Thomas, is married to billionaire and outgoing Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg. Beside visiting Russia and studying acting at college with a lady whose name was inaudible at college, Billionaire Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg may have been instrumental in Jon’s Hollywood film career.😂😂😂
Because he seems kind of nervous telling his stories to Joe.
In Jon’s defense, after further research, and although his family background has given him a big lift up, Bernthal is much more sincere and dedicated then first realized. Today’s Hollywood is not the Hollywood of yesteryear, the Hollywood our parents and their parents experienced . Quite often we can be overly judge mental without being cognizant of the many aspects to one’s personality. Thanks for your input.
Why does it sound like he’s bullshitting through the whole interview. He never gives a direct answer.
