  • Hey Hannah! I don’t know if this is something worth making a video about, but I feel like it would be interesting and insightful to understand how KZheadrs/influencers continue to make money/balance their finances when they’re taking a break or reducing their online content - I don’t know if you plan on taking a maternity leave, and I know that I don’t personally blame any KZheadrs when they take breaks as well as the fact that I’m happy to wait until their return in content since I have other content creators to also watch in the meantime, but I always wonder the impact from a financial perspective since they don’t have the same paid time off that you’d have in a corporate atmosphere - I feel like I’d never take time off with that fear of knowing that it’s just stopping that flow of income. Anyhow, I hope that’s not too intrusive a question, but something that I think you’d have a fascinating take on in helping the viewers better understand the perspective of the creator experience

    • It's a real conundrum! I don't think there's time for a video about it, but what I'll say is that it's not just about the loss of income (which will theoretically be temporary) but also the potential loss of momentum or "status" in the algorithm (which can be difficult or impossible to recover from). Joe and I have put a lot of brainstorming and a ton of work into trying to find a way to give ourselves a maternity/paternity leave without permanently losing the momentum of the channel. Hopefully what we've planned will be enough so that we can pick up where we left off when we return, but there will definitely be a financial impact for us (we've been bracing for it) and there's not really a way around that. There are a lot of upsides to this job, but the total nonexistence of paid leave is a huge downside, and this is our most serious encounter with it yet. Wish us luck!

    • And the newer ND formulas are updated and so good. They’re actually better formulas than PM. She’s listening to the customer and bring it with every launch. I don’t see much innovation in formulas or color stories for PM, and if anything, PM seems to be downgrading by eliminating the special shimmer shades that used to be on the palettes. I mean NO. At this high end level and there is no innovation, no creativity, no special shades, not listening to the customer. Who’s getting my money??! Whoever is offering what I want, and that ain’t any lackluster repetitive pink shadows, that’s for sure.

  • With ND and PMG, I think there is a vast difference in consumer reactions because of what consumers have been asking for. We have been begging Pat McGrath to depart from pink, and then she gave us the pinkest palette of them all. Then the brand blocked people and deleted comments for giving critical feedback. With Natasha Denona, she releases a wide variety of colorful palettes. Yucca, the pastel palette, trio chrome, that circus b themed palette, etc. She provides variety and launches multiple palettes per year, so it doesn’t feel boring and repetitive when we get a gorgeous neutral palette

    @meepmoopmeep1@meepmoopmeep18 ай бұрын
  • Absolutely disagree with anyone who says the ND palette is repetitive. I’ve never felt at all interested in anything from her but, like you, the second I saw it, I was like YES! I’ve really only been buying colorful makeup the last several years and weirdly enough I don’t have anything neutral. I don’t like grays and I don’t like orangey-browns so this is *chefs kiss* perfection. I haven’t felt swooned by any other neutral palette on the market which I think goes to show how unique this one is. I already ordered it 🤡.

If you look at the last releases from PMG they are all pink and warm, and overall in the same depth range. As for ND you find cool, warm, a mix of both, darker leaning palettes or more pastel, and this one was the missing one neither cool nor warm, without leaning too light or dark, hits the spot!

      @alevsahin1428@alevsahin14288 ай бұрын
    • I don't own many neutrals and I thoroughly dislike orange on me but I think the theme is more repeatative than the actual colour story. The glam pallet is quite different to the nude pallet in depth, number of shimmers vs mattes and undertone. I don't really want either pallet but you can see the differences between if you look closely. I think most people just remember that the glam was a "cool toned neutral" and saw a cool toned neutral pallet so assumed they were the same/repeatative. I find it a little ironic and funny that most people who complained about this pallet would probably own 3 or 4 too faced pallets or more than 1 orangey/warm brown neutral pallets 😂

  • Hey Hannah. In regards of Prada marketing vs Rhode marketing I actually feel the other way around. Prada’s clinical approach not only fit aesthetically with the current direction of the brand but also gives it a timeless utilitarian characteristic to the ways the products are presented, not personal, not emotional, no stories behind it, no faces, perhaps just good products with a name of a brand that knows it’s aesthetics and who they are selling to. I haven’t tried the products, and I feel no particular way about Rhode, but I am responding to the marketing in the opposite way as you are, which I found interesting enough to mention.

    • I completely agree people should make more educated and conscious decisions when it comes to how they consume and how sustainable those choices are. The thing I’m seeing is that perhaps Rhode is better at marketing their environmental efforts but not necessarily you are making a better choice for the environment because of this. I’m cynical about the use of these marketing strategies because they usually are implemented by the brand to serve as differentiating tool and to remove some of the “guilt” of overconsumption and trends. I can now get all of these items because I’ve been told they are all sustainable… by the people profiting from my purchase.

    • I agree and disagree to some extent. I think when comparing PML to, say, Urban Decay or two faced we do hold PML to higher standards for doing what those two brands do (i.e., rehash the same color story), however, PML is more expensive than both of them. So, when comparing by price range, I think it makes sense to compare PML to ND and give the former a little shade for bringing out yet another reiteration of the same palette that has been around since the Divine Rose mothership. Like others have mentioned, with ND's last release being that yellow grungy Yucca midi, the New Nudes is far removed from that (but not from previous releases like the Glam or Retro Glam). It begs the question about whether or not it is worth paying the high price for likely extraordinary formulas when the shades are so similar to previous renditions.

  • What’s cool about the glossier release is that in their fair shades, they have a neutral, pink, peach and yellow. In their light shades, they have an addition of a olive tone. Which is just unheard of. Now, I’m peachy-more pink toned, and very fair, but my mom is light and olive toned. And I’d be interested to get her this.

It seems kind of obvious, but that was such a lightbulb moment!

  • Based on what I have seen from the rest of the internet, I don't think Prada is just doing it to get into just to get into makeup. They seem to be producing really good makeup, both in terms of the product and the packaging (plenty of luxury brands do packaging, but not nearly as much on what's inside the case unless it's makeup). It also seems to not be ludicrously priced considering they easily could have said "let's charge $100 for a complexion product that doesn't look good and kills you with fragrance." In terms of the clinical packaging,Prada is not one of the luxury brands that is trying to be super bold. Prada to me is naturally going to give you something that is mostly exquisite minimalism that doesn't feel super personal. It fits them imo.

  • I feel like the new Natasha Denona palette is more different from other available ND palettes than people feel capable of giving it credit. And it’s simply because it lacks any strong colors and has deeply boring, un-covetable packaging (that might look similar to Glam if you owned both and were reaching for one) that it seems like a repeat. But it does feel like it was worth releasing. I would be really considering buying it if I didn’t kind of hate - er, *viscerally dislike* - the outside of the palette and the name. Slap it in a luxe component and, baby, I’m in! (Maybe I’ll buy it and immediately de-pot to my own setup?)

I was excited about the I Need A Nude palette but I think I've talked myself down. I want Natasha to do a color story that does it for me. Watching Angela Bright swatch the shimmers cooled down the fire I felt for this palette though. They're just soooo similar. • I echo your sentiments so completely when it comes to the new nd! Not only is it the first time I've been truly interested in an nd midi, but it's the first time I'm dead set on picking it up (probably bf time tbh). It's perfect. As for ud & their naked line, bleh. Thing is, & this is something I feel like I continuously see in the community (particularly the smaller indiebrand community) is that so many people fail to see that most of these brands are driven by market data. The new kaleidos blushes & entire new collection immediately spring to mind since so much of the community was defeated over it. I understand the disappointment, I understand the blushes are soo light, but I find it incredibly hard to believe kaleidos did this on a whim. Hopefully they listen to consumer feedback & launch a line of neutral blushes with more depth.

Imo the difference is PML released a bunch of things in a row all year that work for like 1 type of person with the same undertone, however, biba and the glam palette are too warm for me, and I think this might be the nude palette for me. They’re similar but they’re “just right” for different people. Like “if you have one of these you don’t really need the other but one of these is your match”. Plus the creative palettes between releases.

  • Finally a sensible review! I don't understand so much excitement for ND and so much hate for PM, when for me they were doing the same thing. Another difference that I think may be happening to make people more excited about the ND launch is that ND has been varying their colour story over the last few releases providing variety for customers, which PM has not. Therefore, ND might not seem so repetitive.
