I listen to the sound of that engine, and I like to think at least he left us doing the things he loved best.

I am a die hard Chevy ģuy ,but have the utmost respect for this superb gentleman I wish I could have had the pleasure to have the been acoseatid with in any respect. What a cool Katt. Didn't have that blessing. But still miss him. .great guy. God bless you MR BROCK!!!
Well Said!
Effin beauty. Go hard or go home pretty much.. Left the fans loving him even more. Some have tried, but just not quite as legendary as Brocky. A hard legend to live up to. But will always be my idol.
He was dancing with that steering wheel the whole time. Power to weight made that an untameable beast of a car. He died doing what Australia loved him for and what he loved. RIP King of the Mountain.
Jeez he gave it everything! He knew the risks of driving on the edge, and well what a way to go, doing the thing you love most. I visited the scene the day after, as did many others standing in silence and respect for our hero.
Have you seen the clip in here of the stage before his ABSOLUTE final one? It's masterful. It drives me nuts these ppl who say he was tired from flying in from O.S, or past it and should have given it up It was just BAD fucken luck. One wheel SLIGHTLY off line and hit a tree at speed in the WORST spot. B pillar where there's fuck all fat to soften the blow.
The man the legend ! gone but never forgotten, I met Peter back in 1987 at Amaroo Park circuit RIP mate
Still tears me up. Still king of the mountain❤️.
@@meganwyatt1607 always WIll be KING OF THE MOUNTAIN
god almighty that man could drive. we miss him even here in the states.
It is now 2020. My how time flies, thank you Gentleman Jim for your kind words for a bloke we'll always remember. You know what! I still have days that I forget he's gone But them again he is not.
Yes from QLD and and now in WA. I was driving today and noticed on the road a small car park for 6 cars. I thought that's weird nothing around. As I approached I saw it was a memorial. And in fact it was Peter Brocks. They got a plaque with 6 cars on top. And a Rock behind again with a car on top and car beside. I'm glad with great respect no vandalism and their is a bin where people put their rubbish.
A true legend of Motorsport , never forgotten RIP Brocky #05
Ironically the original car that this design was taken from the Shelby Daytona or sometimes called the King Cobra was designed solely by American designer & GMH guy later to work for Carrol Shelby, his name was also Peter Brock.
The real ones have a different roof line
A tragic irony. Would never have known about this man if not for the unique coincidence.
Shelby and Toyota screwed Pete Brock out of a deal to race Toyotas. If it wasn't for that, the legendary relationship between Datsun and Brock Racing Enterprises during the late 60s and early 70s never would have happened. Karma had the BRE Datsun 2000 Sports decimate Shelby's Toyota 2000GTs and continue on successfully with Brocks legendary 240Z and P510 Datsuns. Maybe it's more than coincidence those Datsun S30 chassis bear the subtle hint of Daytona Coupe.
Baffist ain't the same these days without that era of drivers........sigh I'll still watch all day very soon....😍
Yep Pete...it's not the same now..l don't get the same buzz outa watching 2 slightly different Yank shells on a chassis.. no matter how gd the drivers are. Either they open Supercars up to all V8s worldwide... or it'll die a slow death.
I still remember where and what I was doing at the time I had heard he died. I was on my way to Bathurst to look at the cars in the museum and I was in my hotel room in a little town in Bathurst next to the mountain I flicked on the news and saw that he had died I was devastated and now I’m going for my dream of a racing drive to pay tribute to Brocky
I still remember the same. I didnt believe it at first.
It was my 13th birthday and I was on the school bus on the way home it was a friday I remember because I had some mates coming home with me for a party for my birthday
Not only a great driver ,but an even greater man...always humble ,always positive,,,I count myself lucky to have met him,,,he will never be forgotten.
Watching those window wipers, the wet road, the tree trunks everywhere, driving flat chat in those conditions takes Some intestinal fortitude.
And at 61 years of age. My god.
I recreated the livery of Peter's Daytona replica to use in Gran Turismo, as my personal tribute and to remember him whenever I see it.
Greasy roads at that speed were never going to end well.Peter was the best driver of his era and a huge influence on all drivers that came after him, especially in Ozzie and NZ racing circles. RIP Peter Perfect🥇
I had dinner with him at last BAFFIST in 1997 along with his whole crew, Bev and all that. I paid a grand to do it at 'Bathurst Goldfields' which is a place just off to the right as you come onto Conrod. I really couldn't believe it. I got the second last autograph on a MASSIVE poster I'd bought and carried around all day. Some prick got in behind me. It was about midnight and he was uncharacteristically KNACKERED. It'd been a looooong day for him though. Met him lots. Just an amazing man in so many arenas. Car racing was just one piece of his amazing jigsaw. Onya Brock. Gees I miss you.... The most charismatic, intense, likeable, intelligent person I've ever met. And at 57 I've met a few
Agreed. Watching the Great Man see-sawing at the wheel to 'wischen' the front to counteract the lightweight rear as it came out in the wet (more obvious from the outside footage than in the car) plus a typical narrow, bumpy Australian road that looked as smooth as glass, plus the distracting absolutely-pathetic gearleaver that he fumbled for on more than one occasion (made the UC Torana's golf club look sophisticated, lol) topped off with the sh*tty fibreglass body meant there was absolutely no room for error. I've driven muscle cars in the wet with the same weight distribution on hot-mix bitumen and you get no warning in a tight corner at the limit when she starts to let go at the rear - in this respect steel-belted radials were no better than cross-plies, except that cross-plies let you know earlier when you were really pushing it.
R.i.p. Peter. I balled my eyes out to this. Gone but not forgotten🕊
You're a legend PB and an Aussie icon. Tarmac rally is as exhilarating as it is dangerous and Brocky's crash proves it. RIP mate..
still brings a tear to my eye , what a ausie icon he will never be forgoton RIP Brocky.
that just shows how much of a legend he was. he drove a V8 muscle car like that, straight for the whole stage in the wet. he didn't have it sideways at all except for after the finish! He was a hero, a legend and my Hero. You'll always be remembered and loved Brocky.
R.I.P BROCKY
respect
Things haven't been the same since he left, not only a great driver but a great voice for everyone who loves motorsport and driving, while peter was around you didn't see the petty nanny state mentality in every single new road law, we seen him fighting them every single time telling the government the truth behind driving and why their ideas are more dangerous than the situations they are trying to prevent. Peter was a legend who stood up for the rights of all of us, we will miss him forever
I was lucky growing up my dad took me to the mountain just about every year, brocky is my hero and will be forever, I shed a tear every time I think of him, rip
2021 Brocky lives on, Legends never die.
Died while doing what he loved most what a legend R.I.P King Of The Mountain
Rest In Peace Brocky.... Some amazing driving in that video.. thanks for sharing it. Dan
Deeply loved, sorely missed, greatly respected. An inspiration, a hero, always the king of the mountain. I'm more a motorbike guy than a car guy, but if I go like Brockie, hard and fast to the final minute, doing what I love doing, then I can think of no better or more fitting way.
A monster car thanks for posting great footage
You're a legend PB and an Aussie icon. Tarmac rally is as exhilarating as it is dangerous and Brocky's crash proves it. RIP mate.. And yes, have some bloody repsect.
Who didn’t he respect?
R.I.P Peter Brock
Fantastic driver, Fantastic human being, he hadn't lost any of his ability, he was on it on that stage. Peter taught me to live life to the fullest, be nice to everyone even if you may not like them and to appreciate the people who have helped get you where you are. For a tea totaling vegan he's a bloody great person.
I have road that road many times On .my bike , lots of Grip when Hot , and it seamed to still Be OK when wet , but when It just very light , I found it Could Catch you out , W.A Styled roads are bit like that Bitumen and Blue metal and Worn down , can be a Recipe For Disaster , if you look at Peter turning on and of wipers That what the Conditions were. It caught Brocky out , What did I learn out of this , it caught the BEST OUT , knock of 10 Km Off still enjoy it , we all want To make it Home Love You Brocky ( My mate He was , well that what he made You feel like )
Met peter in 1997 in Tasmania, was such a humble guy. rip peter
I do miss him he would loved what we have today saying that he would still be the master of the road thanks for the memories PETER BROCK miss your style of driving perfect Peter I was living in the USA at the time this happened I still remember my tears
I read all about this guys life while I was locked in a UK jail... Absolute legend from being on the farm until that last day behind the wheel... R.I.P Peter Brock !!!
Who wouldn't spend $1 doing professional expert scaled down testing of the machinery he was going to operate. He was a BS artist who is NOT to be hero worshipped! Get that in your thick head!
@@dreyn7780 umm skitzo department
@@dreyn7780 king of the mountain 👍
@@dreyn7780 You were quite correct there. The brock DB Tech Energy Polarizer comes to mind.
What a beautiful machine and what a shame about Brocky! I grew up watching this legend on TV. At least he died doing what he loves, my hat goes off to people like Brocky!
Saddest day of my life. What a legend. Love ya Brocky
And he died in the same week, four days after Steve Irwin.
Who still misses this ledgend in 2024? RIP Bev Brock aswell. 🙏🏻🇦🇺🚗💨
Holy crap - that's dangerous!
Yeah, after seeing how hard he was pushing it on a track surrounded by trees like that combined with poor weather.. I guess he reached his limit finally :(
Phatt Johnson R.I.P. Peter Brock
I spent the video with a sunken heart, constantly bracing for the moment, only to be told that this was a completed stage. Thank fuck for that. Last completed stage is definitely better to watch than the last ever stage
Peter 05 this was your destiny who knew I told a friend in the 80s could U bring back a Brock 05 poster well when my friend bought it back it wasn't just signed Peter Brock wrote about 20 sentences thanking me for interest in his career now this was a man Of the people your legacy lives on forever rip cheers stevo 🍀🍀
Absolute legend RIP
id like to see the footage of the crash is this available?
LONG LIVE THE KING HE WAS DRIVING A BEAST OF A CAR IN CONDITIONS HE LOVED AND WENT OUT WITH THE SOUND OF ENGINES THAT HE SO ENJOYED. Its not what anyone would want but for me he was doing what he loved n that's driving on the limit that's what peter was about pushing the car n him self like no one else could. I fucking miss him but will never forget him LONG LIVE THE KING
+Wog As Once you push a limit you want to break it. He died doing what he loved.
RIP Brocky. 10 years this week and Bathurst is flying the 05 flags
R.I.P Brocky
My Hero as a Kid Brocky, was king and Always Will be .You cant take the Hero out of the Man HE'S The LEGEND Do what he did for so many an match his ability an maby you can become a legend as well. UNTIL then Jealousy is the curse of the feeble weak Who will never reach Our MAN PETER BROOK!!!!! Missed by many
Probably the most scariest video I'll watch on KZhead, not for its graphic nature more for how close it hits to home. Both Irwin and Brock, Australian icons from a time this country was still considerably Australian. (Honestly Bathurst is miserable and puny to watch these days)
Sadly another legend gone but not forgotten
O'Brien's is a very popular ride for bikes and most runs involve a stop at Brockies memorial. The man was a legend and died doing something he loved and defined him, RIP champ 👍
Fantastic driving road.
Pete Brock (Yank designer from the 60's) looks like he based the shape/design of this car like the original roof cobras that took on the Ferraris in 1964 & 1965 (won). Same top roof & rear wing. very fast cars. RIP Peter Brock.
Wonder what aero testing was done with that car?
Ross Dunkerton said that Brock had just returned from Britain and may have been fatigued. He summed up saying "he hadn't driven it, it was raining and if you put all those things together, you can sort of say it's sad and it's risky,". That's a lesson to new and old drivers...you've got to be fresh and do the reccy's.
Yes R.I.P. My Idol, My Hero. Sad to see him go. But least he enjoyed life up to the very end. It was pretty though watching him handle that car, as said, he looked so relaxed in doing it. I liked his little power slide at the end when he completed that stint.
watching this on tv put me on the edge of my seat the way he fights that pig of a car. RIP brother brock
@GBeckfanNY - Yes, Mick Hone was the navigator and suffered broken ribs etc but he did live, although he remained trapped in the car with Peter dead beside him for some time...
I see that, it is not as big a surprise to me that he crashed it. That is the hardest I have ever seen him work at the wheel of a car. It must have been a very difficult car to drive - in fact I heard somewhere he said exactly that not long before the crash - it is no poor reflection of his ability. He is a very good driver and still missed. From a Ford man.
brocky we will miss you so much m8
What a beast, the car sounds bloody awesome too! 👌
A bit of tragic preview of what was to come... A crash was inevitable in the conditions, and on an open piece of road without guardrails or fencing, there was a very heavy price to pay. Grand master or not, these are the unfortunate facts. Sad for Peter, his family, friends and many fans.
in december of 2020 currently and even today i cant work out why he drove. his ex wife said he never wanted to get old and always wanted to stay young tho so i guess it makes sense that at this point he wasn’t scared of death. i’ll never understand how the man did what he did but i’ll always respect him for it. forever a legend and changed the racing world for the better. always loved, never forgotten. R.I.P. Peter Brock.
How could you give that the thumbs down!!!!
Just goes to show you how easily it can be done. Brock looked relaxed as he always did behind the wheel. A racer to the end.
I can't watch 50th Bathurst without tearing up. All the other legends are there except the one that really matters....
At least a Holden won for him and yeh Brock was missed
Well said, mate...RESPECT...
I drive an XB coupe but respect to Brocky, he was an awesome driver. Dunno about you but I'm kind of almost wincing watching this - knowing what happened after it, its hard not to think he's going a bit quick for the conditions..theres even a few moments in this that look a bit too hairy for comfort...I'm watching this a few hours after 2 died in Classic Adelaide 2009, and much as I love cars and fast driving, it sure as hell makes you aware of how wrong it can go...
That last leg was one heck of a drive :) Good race brocky
Car make and model ???
That's the difference between racing on a designed race track and racing on a closed road with no safety at all except for the vehicle your in and even then things can change without warning. RIP BROCKY you were a pleasure to watch especially on the mountain.
Went for the peter brock tribute cruize on Sunday absolutely awesome RIP brocky
Any one of those trees, could have been the one. Mechanical failure or something pops into your mind for a splitsecond. Racing is dangerous
sitnio62 same on you! He was the greatest ever!
I wonder who has the in car footage, after all it should be public record and its a official race and any investigation would see the in car footage to work out just what happened? I wonder if there was any moss or worse oil on that corner?
Thats insane!
Brocky was CRAZY COOL 😎
What a shocker to drive. He should have stuck with his fav brand unfortunately.
I thought the same watching this vid. The thing seems to be scating around all over the joint. Yeah it's wet but some of those trees are huge. They ain't gunna move for nobody. R.I.P Brocky.
Huh? He said himself it was a nice car to drive?
He would have been on semi slicks which explained the skating around in the wet but other than that I do agree the car did seem to be off balance.
@H HOUR HOTEL He was testing 500hp race holdens in the 80's
@H HOUR HOTEL Keep researching, wasn't racing them. Also the vr and vs race cars were up near 500.
That car looked pretty quick
this video and sennas last lap are both epic final videos.
NOT the driving style of someone jet lagged or past it, as accused........ Just a shitty minor accident on a midly damp road with a car with stupid HP...miss you Brocky 🥰😢
Rest in peace peter brock
Wow that car was a beast sounded like it was trying to break off the lease and looked like a combination of wrestling match and street fight holding it back
Dearly missed ......by all.
That car looks out of control even on the straights
R.I.P.
R.I.P brocky still the king of the mountain in 2021
I think it would be pretty hard to get hold of that footage to be honest with you. It's been said that there was a camera that recorded all the data like throttle%, steering lock and final drive ratio etc. But only the Police and S.C.U were able to look at it. It's never going to be shown public. I wouldn't mind seing it myself just to get an idea of what happened. But can you imagine if it was shown to the public. You'd never hear the end of people complaining about it.
Rip brock you will be missed
he died doing wat he loved most. Driving fast
its in bloody mono, but thanks for sharing.
" the amazing driving skills of peter brock you can see the car moving around but peter controlled it to go where he wanted it to go " ( i think accident corner" had slopping camber in the wet lost traction leading to his crash ) rip
lol that is some master control of a steering wheel releasing the weight of the car at every moment he can
dave dirk spot on 👌🏽
Rip peter Brock
R.I.P Brocky
Mother of God that engine is loud! That just makes me nervous to even imagine being in a car being driven like that! Bless his heart but I would have sent that notepad flying from the word go!
He gave it everything it had he always raced like that
😢
Hear hear, mate...
RIP Peter Brock what a aussie legend miss him so much I remember the I got phone call and told me he was dead
I've had a worked v8 in my LC torana since 1989,drove it like a madman ,thought Brocky was the best..Would be lying if I said it didn't knock the wind out of my sails a bit when the bad news came .Maybe I'm not invincible
RIP to the king of the mountain
Did his co-driver survive the crash?
Yes.
Is the narration a reporter or a voice over guy? If the latter he's terrible. If the former I despair.
That’s crazy..no barriers just trees,no room for error.rip blocky....
Rally doesn't usually have barriers anyway
Gone to soon .. what a good stick
