We would appreciate it if you could use it as a seed for your ideas after considering safety.
The knurling process puts a heavy burden on the machine, so please be careful when selecting the machine to use.
If you use it as a reference, it is your responsibility.

    • Just wanting to give some advice that I was given by my machinist professors at college if you (or anyone) want it. I'm wanting to do the same (go into mech. engineering and am 29 near space rocket industries), but have already taken a degree in Machine Tool Tech. I don't know if you have any machining experience, but if you don't, I'd suggest getting some. It'll help you out and you'll be better off than a lot of other mech. engineers. Many machinists say that generally engineers have no idea how to use milling/lathe/etc. machines to make their ideas into reality. Easiest example is recently when John Deere had to use their engineers to continue manufacturing because of labor strikes. They had no experience of using those machines and broke many of them and the parts too. I hope this helps you (anyone) with what you want to do. 👍

    @tarehjernetarehjerne4082@tarehjernetarehjerne4082 Жыл бұрын
    • Thank you for watching. The same oil is used for the sliding surface. I think you have to reapply the oil frequently. Older machines remove the carriage from the bed and remove the black caked oil stuck in the carriage oil groove.

  • I would like to know how you got all the knurls to line up correctly... do they just lock into place automatically?

    @Tonicwine999@Tonicwine999 Жыл бұрын
    • Thank you for watching. In the case of a flat surface, if you move the knurling piece and the material so that they do not separate, they will automatically align.

      @SwaplampJapan@SwaplampJapan Жыл бұрын
    • @@SwaplampJapan thanks for clearing that up. I hate when the knurls don’t line up properly on cylinders.. was surprised to see it looking so good :) Great video :)

      @Tonicwine999@Tonicwine999 Жыл бұрын
    • @@Tonicwine999 thank you for your reply. If the surface of the cylinder is knurled, the pattern may not line up evenly. This is because the groove shifts on the second round and the pattern is destroyed. In this case, you have to push deeper and correct the misalignment before feeding. After confirming that the misalignment has been corrected, return to the depth that should be pushed in and start feeding.

      @SwaplampJapan@SwaplampJapan Жыл бұрын
  • How do you keep the lines straight? Do you lift up when adjusting the position?

    @erikrasmussen7742@erikrasmussen7742 Жыл бұрын
    • Thank you for watching. It is lifted at the same time as it is shifted to the left or right. I lifted about 0.3 to 0.4 mm in one round trip. If you try to lift it while it is stationary without moving it left and right, the resistance will be too great and you will damage the machine.

    • He would have to try for sharp points instead of flat top diamonds. Also, since knurling is a forming operation, the material pushed up would have an unsuitable grain structure, kind of like metal fatigue on purpose 🙂 It would be much more to the point (pun intended) to do this as a shaper operation, cutting into the material instead of displacing it up with a knurling tool.
