Seeing Mario vs. Donkey Kong in HD is absolutely spectacular to me. This game was a big part of my childhood and seeing it remastered for Nintendo Switch, alongside plenty of worthwhile addition content, is amazing to me. It's shaping up to do the original a ton of justice!
You know there's one major beef I have with this trailer. They got so lost in the sauce writing the script for this trailer that they fail to mention a single time that this is a remake/remaster. There's a lot of people who may watch this and not have a clue that it was a Gameboy Advance classic, which it feels like they won't even acknowledge.
@@nefariosgliscor I understand that completely, yeah. I can't be mad that they're marketing it as entirely new though, given they're aiming at an audience which may consist of a new player base. A lot of companies tend not to mention their remakes/remasters are such unless they want to explicitly emphasize that it *is* a remake. And usually the audience who are aware of the original recognize that it is a remake anyways. I can only see it being problematic with games that are designed as sequels to earlier titles, i.e. TTYD, as that can cause confusion with some Easter Eggs or continuity details. Or more recently Sonic x Shadow Generations.

Not having a level editor is such a missed opportunity tho. This is the entry I always wanted a level editor in most!
Funny thing is, in the original version, a level editor was planned but scrapped. But you can still use it via emulator and a gameshark code.
They might add a Mario vs DK style to Mario Maker 3? My wishful thinking.

i'm probably gonna wait until the full game comes out, but as someone who only recently beat the original game for my first time, i'm VERY much looking forward to this one! just praying they keep the "ahh, that charles martinet. nice italian boy!" line in the credits
It would be a beautiful thing for one of the last lines Martinet ever said in a Mario game to be that. Let's just hope; based on the other stuff they've shown about the game so far, it looks like they may have scaled back the amount of speaking Mario does in the game (though the lines themselves are the original recordings for the GBA game, which is encouraging).

I played this game a lot on my GBA at the time. I love that game, it’s somewhat of the true sequel to the original Donkey kong game and super mario bros deluxe on game boy.
This looks like the perfect game to just play when I just want to chill, but also keep my mind awake.

Just played the demo. Looks and feels great ....glad to see they separated the time attack scoring from the main level completion stars....I'm assuming it'll be a separate end game mode ....that was a gripe for me in the original having to speed run the levels right out of the gate to get a perfect completion. Very wise decision to break that off separately....the "casual mode" with no timer or deaths is WAY too easy imo, but good for the lil ones I suppose....Anyways, really looking forward to picking up the physical on release 👍

This will probably be one of the few last games to feature Charles’ voice. NO ONE will ever be able to replace him. He not only gave Mario a voice and personality but a soul too❤ Say what you want but to me, Mario won’t be Mario anymore. The only acceptable way to preserve his legacy would be using AI, which will become even more powerful and efficient.

Has it really been 20 years already?? I bought this game when it first came out. I was 12. I loved it! I especially loved the soundtrack. I'm now 32 and have an 11 year old daughter. Happy I get to create new memories.

Hearing those Donkey Kong sound effects makes me want a full remake of the Donkey Kong original arcade game.... though I guess it'd have to be the 1994 version on classic Game Boy as well if we were to extend it.

I love MVDK. It's basically a modern retelling of the Donkey Kong GB game, which is a retelling of the Donkey Kong arcade game, I think. Which means this is a remake of a retelling of a retelling of a classic.

This game was one of my first Mario games. It’s my childhood and I treasure the GBA version dearly. I actually still have it. I always said they should remake the game on switch or 3DS never truly thinking it would happen. my prayers were answered and man I’m happy!!
