A very cool comparison and it shows that it doesn't matter if you use either one, you're in safe hands.

@@S2Hgamingwhat about Chinese? Ukrainian would be fine tho right?
I think these 2 are the most reliable/effective AVs on the market. Having tried both, I settled on Kaspersky - but it's only a cigarette paper between them.
Only issue is Bitdefender is a resource hog apparently while Kaspersky barely uses any resources from my experience. Seems like a better deal to me
@@SgtRamen69 I've found the same. I use the free version of Kaspersky and it seems to have virtually no impact on my PC. The Russians do know how to make great apps, even Russian smartphone apps like Yandex maps and Yandex translate are years ahead of what Google offers.

Defender works perfectly fine. Combine with open dns, ublock origin and strong unique passwords and air gapped backups, you are good. Unless you store other peoples sensitive data, then you need proper advice.
I was a long time Norton customer and fan but abandoned it 3 years ago when they had stopped sales via 3rd party in my region and moved to Kaspersky. Never looked back.
Norton has always felt like malware disguised as virus protection to me lol

This is the bake off I have been waiting for. Thank you so much Leo for taking the time to put this together. We appreciate all that you do.
Thank you, Leo! Find all of the work you do very helpful and informative. Really appreciate that you took the time to do this test and share. Keep up the great work!
I subscribed to you a long time ago when you had only a few thousand subscribers. I'm glad that your hard work is paying off.
Good video, funny , informative and let's not forget the very clear explanation about the detections and the differences between the two
Great video and testing! I prefer Kaspersky because it seems a lot less intrusive throwing a lot less false positives which makes more of a pleasant user experience. Plus Kaspersky's pricing is simply unmatched for what it offers in my opinion.
You know how sometimes vendors tell you to "disable AV"? I don't recall ever having to do that with KAV...
In last tests. Bitdefender has better protection at all. Look at the av-comparatives
@@RikiLixiMost comparatives are biased now against Russian Origin Products.

Thanks for doing the tests and the results. It increased my confidence in my choice of Bitdefender. Like you mentioned they are both good at their intended purpose.
Love your video! Also, I think the music matches the test! It gives a feeling of anxiety as if the malware is now secretly slipping through the antiviruses! It also reminds me of the windows defender sandbox vs malware video that you did a few years ago - where this music was also played and the cascading waterfall of error kept popping up >_< Great job!
Your work is exemplary, Leo. Your work is critically important to me; I can think about such testing but I could NEVER to it. Now, I feel informed; thanks!
The hard part is collecting the samples (and maybe the payment too, if there are no free trials), the rest is... not so hard.

My Kaspersky subscription is expiring soon. Still worthy, so Imma extend it for another 2 years. Thanks, Leo for the comparison.

We had been waiting for this!
How could we have been waiting for this when he just did a kaspersky vs 2000 malware video 2 months ago. What we are waiting for is for people to quit testing kaspersky every other week and give other AV and malware tools a chance.
Kaspersky is a awesome low resource heavy antivirus which is very very good so why quit a antivirus that's reliable have very good protection and low impact on pc

This is all nice and dandy, however I prefer my Microsoft Technician level 3 from Mumbai to take care of my security. Cost me only 299.99USD / year and I can’t start to describe all the foreign connections (hackers) he found on the first day. Plus all stopped processes by the same. Highly recommended.

These videos are so helpful! Thank you for sharing. Can you test Sophos too please?
Great testing.
Very useful comparison.👍 I have used Bitdefender since 2015 and I like it because it's easy to use and it doesn't hog resources. AND it has kept me safe and secure for all these years 😊
Great content. To the point w/o wasting everyones time! TY keep up the great work
I love the classical music piece too! Great choice.
Was just earlier in the week having a look at the basic Bitdefender Antivirus edition, from the perspective of a regular Kaspersky user. The interface felt cleaner and everything seemed to run smoothly. I would feel confident recommending Bitdefender as an alternative to others, while sticking to Kaspersky myself for wanting more granularity in the settings. And for that Bitdefender was throwing false positives on a number of uncommon software tools I had lying around. Not something that should be a bother at all for most users.
Isn’t Kaspersky run from Moscow? And Moscow takes its lead from Beijing?

Love your conent bro, really good information.
this is what i have been waiting for
If we made false positive test between Bitdefender and Kaspersky, I'm sure Kaspersky would be the winner. Because as you said, Kaspersky is more likely to allow executions and to search behavioural patterns rather than Bitdefender blocks suspicious or malicious signatures ,it's more likely to block them instead of relying on behavioural search.. This may allow false positives more for Bitdefender side.... Both products are good, but I would prefer Kaspersky nevertheless, because I trust Kaspersky's behaviour based detection strength more than Bitdefender's behavioural detection. .. :) Thanks for your nice videos..
In my experience, Kaspersky gets pretty much every single piece of malware but it has a lot of false positives for innocent programs that do suspicious things, such as convenience crypto mining apps
KASPERSKY IS TRASH
Agreed but I use Bitdefender for that reason Kaspersky is awesome as well.

Both are great, I have BD now and feel like it is more "clunky" and resource heavy. But can't go wrong either way
Thx 4 the testing. It's really appreciated... Which one uses less resources it it's significant ?? 👍😎
yes Kaspersky uses less, it can be significant at times.
This was insanely close! I believe BitDefender was on the better side purely because of that one detection that wasn't temporary on Kaspersky's side, but they're both great software.
I think one of the Kaspersky notofications is interesting - "We applied the rule created by you to control activity of the application". So were rules set up in application control that were not on default settings? just curious to know
I am curious too

Super video ! ❤ could you do the same with norton and eset smart security ? 🙏💌
hi thanks for your update. I would like to ask if you can share the 2000 malware list. so I could also test our endpoint security. tia. take care.
Great as usual. Surprised to see that both Kaspersky and BitDefender scores are almost matching which means BitDefender improved a lot. But again I would prefer Kaspersky anytime because its less costly and consumes much less resources than BitDefender. Also any type of scan can be customized in Kaspersky which seems to be somewhat restricted in BitDefender. Anyway, either of the two are great products.
when both anti virus are alike it would be cool to monitor resource usage (ram, cpu, ssd, intenet) and compare it during idle and scan process
Could please give your insight about the Kaspersky Intrusion Prevention Settings below ? Kaspersky Intrusion Prevention Settings - Trust digitally signed applications AND Load rules for applications from Kaspersky Security Network (KSN)? Do you think it is a good practice enable them?
I would say this is a draw, or maybe a close victory by bitdefender due to more aggressive approach. Quite satisfied to have chosen bitdefender to replace kaspersky on my machines exactly 23 months ago.
Please create some video on phishing attacks for Kaspersky, BitDefender, ESET, Avast and Norton. Also please upload some video on AVG vs Malware.

Hi. Do you recommend any windows debloaters and how do we use them without breaking windows when lowering the processes down to 50's or lower. example chris titus (advanced) or winpilot. Thanks in advance.
Will you ever try more commercial software? Like fortinet etc etc?
I use kaspersky and it provides good protection. I did not reinstall windows since I started using it. But i hate how hard it is to find some settings. They added a search bar to make it a little better. Also it takes some time to get used to firewall interface and settings of kaspersky for someone who does not know networking :(
Nice video 👍 Next time run the scripts as administrator so you don’t have to click yes on the UAC every time. Or maybe i am missing something?
This is great, but I would like to see how many system resources are being used.
Why was the Adobe Reader shortcut on the desktop? Did something get through and nothing picked it up on a second scan?
Adobe Reader is legitimate software by Adobe, why would anything detect it? It was likely bundled in some installer/adware, however Adobe Reader itself is not malicious and was allowed to install, and anything else that may have tried to be installed was blocked.
@@Hecklezz true it is legitimate software but then why did one antivirus allow it and the other one didn't? Kaspersky must have noticed something was wrong and prevented the install.
@@gremory0 Probably a fake Adobe Reader installer. It legitimately installs Reader but trojans another software inside. BitDefender probably blocked the Trojan payload but let Adobe Reader install just fine. I once got a virus because I stupidly downloaded a Firefox update from a non-firefox website without thinking over a decade ago. Took a few hours to clean up the damage caused by that.
Used BD then switched to Kaspersky early last year due to price plus Kaspersky included VPN and password manager for free
How did you activate the unlimited VPN in the Plus version of Kaspersky? I own it (Total Security to Kaspersky Plus) and I don't have the unlimited VPN
why do you even pay for these AV softwares? i just use the free ver of bitdefender....
Since it was so close I would have liked to see which one of the two has the biggest impact on system resources.
Kaspersky has the least system impact
In my system, Ryzen 7 5800x with 32GB of RAM, BitDefender uses roughly 300mb of RAM and at idle isn't ticking up any CPU resources used (Staying at 0%). Take that as you wish, I don't run Kaspersky, so I can't verify. Edit: Also, I'm using BitDefender Total Security. So it's got everything enabled.
i got 128GB of ram and bitdefender eats up like 520MB of ram.... really nothing very low resources are used with these softwares....
In my case with 32Gb and i9 12900Kf Bitdefender uses 660Mb to 1Gb but 0% CPU. Overall it doesn't bother you much while using the PC and stays away but I also have Windows Defender running with 60-100Mb and 0% usage alongside Bitdefender
bitdefender still earning its place ; glad to see it also glad to see kaspersky has gotten a lot better in recent years great video dude =]
We've been using it since 2008, not a single infection since then... back then, I was also a not very vigilant child, known to download malware on a weekly basis 😂
Whats are the resources consumptions on both pcs when running the tests ?
Eu prefiro o Kaspersky porque é possível ajustar algumas configurações, Bitdefender é mais automático e usa mais memória RAM
It would be interesting to see some antivirus comparison for android phones. Some of my experience tells me that in that case Bitdefender is a better option than Kaspersky.
it is, Bitdefender has full real time protection both during install and in downloads
I'm using Kaspersky, but just because it's very light on system resources .. there are only two background processes running in the background while Bitdefender has 8 or 9 of them, eating up your CPU and RAM.
it's better than bitdefender anyway

I've got a bit of an interesting question for you. Are password protected files included in the malware samples? Because at some point the antivirus companies have to face this issue of people running these files and it bypassing the scan because it was "too large to scan". Heck i've seen people straight up send large exe files which were viruses and virustotal, my antivirus, etc. didn't pick it up as a virus until like days if not weeks later.
the reason password protected files bypass AV scans is that they are encrypted there is literally no way to fix that However the malware can still be caught when unzipped and when executed
@@sylussquared9724 Ah okay. My experience was the bloated exe still bypassed the scanners (virustotal, etc). Not sure if that's related to filling the virus with zeroes and scanners skipping it or what.
Never saw a comparison between the two. Was interesting to see because I use Kaspersky and have used Bitdefender a few years ago. All in all, I think you're safe with either program, thank you, for sharing!
