We visit LEEDS CITY CENTRE in West Yorkshire, England for a walking tour to see what Leeds has to offer, from shops to bars and restaurants, corn exchange, town hall and more. Come with us!
Also watch our Leeds Walking Tour - • LEEDS CITY CENTRE | A...
Leeds City Centre has a reputation for great shopping, fantastic old shopping arcades, great city centre bars, and of course hundred and hundreds of great shops.
We start our Leeds tour at Leeds Railway Station and the Queens Hotel on Wellington Street. From there we cross over into City Square for a look at the great outdoor restaurants here.
From City Square we head across Park Road and down Boar Lane where we see Leeds City Centre coming to life. Ahead of us is Leeds Corn Exchange but rather than visit there now we take a walk up Briggate, one of the main shopping streets here in Leeds City Centre.
Briggate is thriving as usual, and we stop to check out some street performers before heading into one of the old shopping arcades that are just fabulous to walk through.
We then come onto New Market Street and head into Leeds Corn Exchange before heading up into Leeds Kirkgate Market, onto Vicar Lane and and into some of the other arcades like The Victoria Quarter and County Arcade.
Other Leeds places we visit in this walking tour are Kirkgate, Albion Street, Bond Street and Commercial Street, before heading up to The Headrow.
On The Headrow we pass Broad Gate and St John's Shopping Centre in Dortmund Square as well as The Light before we reach Leeds Art Gallery and Leeds Town Hall in Victoria Square.
Finishing off our Leeds Walking Tour we take a walk around the beautiful Park Square and check out St Paul's House before coming to an end at Box Leeds on Infirmary Street.
Some of the things Leeds is famous for:
1) Millennium Square.
2) Leeds Victoria Quarter.
3) Royal Armouries Museum.
4) Party at a music festival.
5) Emmerdale Studio Experience.
6) Leeds Corn Exchange.
7) Thackray Medical Museum.
8) Leeds City Centre.
9) Leeds United Football Club
10) Leeds Arena concerts
Quite a tour of Leeds!

  • Englands 3rd largest city (fact) leeds is a very underrated place. Its actually the 2nd largest financial centre after london and currently one of the most happening cities in the uk with mass development, currently over 25 cranes up in the cc with numerous skyscraper buildings over 30floors under construction or planned to go up. The city has a very modern wealthy feel to it with a good mix of old architecture and new buildings that mix well.

  • As a born and bred Londoner, who has always thought that "my city" was the centre of the universe, and everywhere else was just grass and yokels, I was astonished the first time I went to Leeds, about 30 years ago. It is a properly impressive and beautiful city, that feels wealthy, and important.

    • Generally it’s a pretty walkable city and they are installing trams at some point so it’ll become even easier to get around in the future. It can be pretty pricey to live there but a good wage will afford you a good flat near the centre and Leeds has pretty good wages.

  • I'm not from Leeds, but lived 20 miles away until I moved overseas. What I love about the city is the fact that apart from it being a buzzing wealthy city, unlike other comparable cities it has managed to maintain it's reputation for being a very friendly place. Leeds has so much to offer, first rate restaurant's, upscale shops and everyday shops, great nightlife and some lovely suburbs, yet all this is within a short journey to the stunning scenery of the Yorkshire Dales National Park and other historic places such as York and Knaresborough.

I started work there in September 1971 and it's truly impossible to comprehend the scale of the change to the city centre. You didn't have time to explore all the other stuff going on in this dynamic young city (Arena Quarter, Wellington Place, South Bank, Leeds Dock/Armouries) there's enough there for another video. All good stuff!

Leeds is well worth a visit, its a great city, pity you missed the City Varieties old Music Hall, but that the thing with Leeds there is so much to see and do, Trinity shopping Centre is huge and its all within walking distance from Leeds Station, a superbly modernized station., somewhere to just stop and see the world go by.

    • @Paul Mcdonnell I think the council have an ulterior motive, the market sits on prime land and they know they will get top dollar for it if they sell it to a developer. Now where that money will end up is in certain back pockets.

      @susanbenham8709@susanbenham8709 Жыл бұрын
    • @@susanbenham8709 low rent and nice area aren't necessarily going to go together, but there are lots of nice areas. Leeds is massive so lots to pick from. Meanwood is a nice area that is seen as up and coming at the moment so that might be cheaper. Chapel allerton, Allwoodley, Adel, Horseforth- all lovely but might be more expensive, but even in those areas it deepnds where as to what rent will cost. I would avoid Chapel town, Harehills, Beaston, Pudsey. Kirkstall is also nice (has the abbey) but is very mixed as to nicer and less nice areas so you might find a cheaper place there. I would also avoid Headingly, its a lovely area but full to bursting with student accommodation so it is loud and a bit frantic at night. There are also plenty of lovely little towns that join on to Leeds but are further out if you don't mind more distance, like Shadwell and Otley. My knowledge is more of north leeds but i know a bit about other areas, especially where to avoid.
