The 5i is more than enough for most people, its a great balance between performance and portability. The overall design is also more suitable for daily use!
I'm a gamer and developer. I usually install Linux on my machines so I'm wondering if this is something that can handle Linux well
@bororobo3805 this is more than enough buddy u can use multiple os dw
😂😂 good stuff bro. (20 kills section) made me laugh.
Bro! You should do a review on the Bose Ultra Open Earbuds next
I bought a Legion Slim 7i last year and it's the best laptop Ive owned. Im' not a gamer, but a content creator. Full sized SD card slot on min was a big seller and I love the ports on the back side. That square power plug on the back is secure and robust. Ive had more problems with power cord inputs on laptops because the round eventually wears out our pulls away and then I'm having to spend hundreds to get it replaced. I think the square is much more durable. Highly recommend Lenovo Legion laptops!
Could you please do the same type of video for the legion 7 series and make comparisons to the legion 5 series with a particular emphasis on the differences and could you please include the dimensions and weight of the devices you are looking at in all future videos. Thank you. Keep up the great work
This is an ad read. They sent him the product and it’s not an in depth review. I would wait for Jarrod for a good review.
Nah this seems like Lenovo ad just watch Jarrod’s
The real question is, how does the cooling compare between equally specced 5 and pro 5. Which one is running cooler and / or quieter. I dont think the argument that the pro 5 has side vents is really that definitive in saying it has better cooling. I would want the quieter of the two, so that would be interesting to compare.
Legion 5’s fan is blowing inwards
Wait, they removed the Thunderbolt ports from last year's model? That's a bit of a bummer.
Nice comparison, currently using the 5i Pro for creative type work
hi!! wanted to ask if it’s good enough if i got the 5i (not the pro) for interior design ? (Mainly use for 3d software and render)
@salmonn5233 yah bro thats enough
@@salmonn5233 More than sufficient
@@chetananandlove I ended up getting the pro because I got a good price hehe.. Thank you for the reply!
The 5i Pro is a gaming desktop replacement. If you are not planning on taking it with you on the go, that's the one to get since the price points are close.
Yeah I was searching for this quote fr, since I am able to spend more on desktop pc build but as I am in college I need this beast laptop 💪
@@HasanXRFX I really like it as a desktop replacement. Less bulky and noisy. My days of building gaming desktop PCs are in the past so just being able to plug and play is nice. You can still do some upgrades to it later. 7i Pro would be a consideration too if you need the extra built in specs. I'm a casual gamer so the lesser expensive 5i Pro was a good fit for me between gaming and everyday functionality.
@@alienresearchlab I don't consider spending on a powerfull laptop but still wanted as desktop replacement, 4070 with 8 GB vram sounds less but never experienced graphics card power before , so it will be good i guess, getting i9 14900 hx and max specs for 2000 is bang for buck though
@@HasanXRFX $2K is a good price point for a good gaming laptop that will last you several years. The build quality on the Lenovo Legion is top notch also. No complaints here.
Finally I got the review I was looking for a long time after ordering Legion 5i with same specs as shown in the video. My Only doubt is, I 230 watt will not be enough for i9 14900hx and rtx 4060. Will have to get replacement of 230 watt with 300 watt.
are you dumb? Ofcourse its enough, why do you think they sell it with that?
230 W is enough.
Undervolt it.
I want to use it for school and gaming, should i buy it?
How about battery life bro???
I just bought the 2023 5i pro with 1 tb ssd, 16 gb ram, 165 hz screen. I bought a 7i in December at best buy. Was on sale for 2200$ CAN. Used it for a month and it suddenly died and didn't work again. Was pretty disappointed with the product considering I come from acer predator helios 300. After a month of looking for laptops no brand has discounts like lenovo so it makes it hard to not try them again. I agree that lenovo has too many configurations. Each series should have 2-3 different configurations ranging from cheap to medium and to high end of each product. The 5i shouldn't have 5-10 different configurations and same with the 7i. With that being said I got the one that's 100$ cheaper than the high end 5i they offer. It was on sale and they have other discounts that made it an easy buy. Was originally 2500$ and got it for 1500$ CAN. Hopefully this one doesn't suddenly die.
Actually there is still a lenovo slim i5 if im not mistaken.
just because of the side vents, I'll be buying the 5i. I had an old MSI laptop with side vents before and it is pretty annoying to have hot air on your mouse for long period of gaming
what mouse is it at 6:59
Can anyone tell me how's the temp of 5i ? Is it causing heating problems can anyone give me the honest review
Hi , thanks for the great content , I just bought a brand new Legion pro 5i Gen 8 , intel Core i7 13700 HX , Nvidia RTX 4060 GPU 8 GB GDDR6 , 16GB DDR-5 4800 MHz and while I was playing warzone on a display setting of 2560x1440 , 7,8 minutes into the game my laptop suddenly got turned off , now when I try too boot the RGB lights on keyboard are showing up but the Legion sign doesn’t come up ( black lcd ) , nothing comes up , tried holding power button for a minute , unplugged power button , let the laptop cool down but nothing works , I mean is this normal for a gaming laptop with this configuration ?
It’s probably heating up. You might need to get a cooling pad for it. No big deal.
can we get one without a number pad and that hump on the back 😀
Brand: Lenovo Legion pro5i Processor: Intel Core i7 13700HX 16C 24T Display: 16 inch WQXGA 2K 240Hz Graphics: Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 8GB GDDR6 SD: 1TB NVMe RAM: 32GB DDR5 Backlight Keyboard RGB DS: Windows 11 Price: $1600 Is this a good price for these specs?
I want more quieter machine in the two Lenovo LEGION PRO 5i vs LEGION 5i, So can someone help me with that. As the price difference is almost same.
You forgot the other option for displays... the 5i can get a 3.2k 165hz display... and for some people that could be way better ...
can we add 1 more ssd in legion 5i or not, i have 4tb ssd in my legion y540 and dont want to lose it or remove the new one, please let me know
yes, you can. There is a free m2 slot and I stuffed a 1tb ssd from my old laptop in and it works just fine with both now.
I wish the Legion 5 models had a thunderbolt port... would definitely seal the deal for me...
pretty sure they had one on the 5i(Intel) models since 2022 and 2023, not sure why they removed it this year.
@@chocobanana5262 yeah its a bummer...I bought the Legion Pro 5i anyway, seems like a good laptop. Can't wait to receive it.
I'm confused with which laptop to buy in these Loq 14th gen i7-14700hx vs legion pro 5i i7-14650 Hx vs predator helios neo i7-14700 hx ?
Loq Is good but , mid battery and adaptor and little worsen thermals than Legion
@@VAMPS000 okay bro thanks
I'm more of a 5i person, but I found a pro 5i for $300 off on costco, so i guess ill just take that.
why is there zero information about GPUs of each device? there are just some random frame-rate numbers but what are the actual GPUs in each laptop ??
Pro can go all the way to rtx 4070 8gb and base model too
05:20 - That is a terribly misinforming comparison. What GPU was each laptop running? Plus there were not the same scenes in the game. Depends on the location in the game, FPS can change drastically.
5i: RTX4060 8GB 5i Pro: RTX 4070 8GB
7:52 both are laptops, I don’t understand why you would imply the slim is better for portability when they are similar in weight, I don’t know if anyone could feel 200 grams heavier. If it’s heavy then this laptop isn’t for you. Buy an LG or a business laptop.
I mean the slim isn’t as bulky so therefore it’s more portable, yea they weigh the same but the slim can fit into a laptop bag easier.
@@tyharris856 the whole KZhead video, probably the whole channel is a glorified advertisement mill. The guy advertising it, probably used it for a week or less and gave the product to Lenovo. I am criticising one aspect of it. No research on whether the product is a good fit or not, no comparison with the last gen. Last gen slim 5 had an SD card slot, what makes this year laptop good, it doesn’t have thunderbolt, the msrp is high, they changed the architecture of the product when multiple generations of the product just worked fine. There is nothing new in the new slim 5 “Legion 5i”, they just cut too much corners made it shitier than last gen, and Lenovo sent it to a KZhead advertising mill to make it reach the wider audience. Also they have the same dimensions nothing is bulkier or fatter, if you can’t carry 200 grams then the laptop is not for you. Don’t buy the shittier version and don’t listen to these Advertisement mills, they are similar to scammers.
@@dure9336 yea that’s true
eeerrrrrm, where is the graphics card. im so upset now
0:17 but there's 5 slim amd...
Just bought my first gaming PC: Legion Pro 5i with RTX4070, 14th Gen i9 14900HX, 32GB RAM, 1TB 300W power supply. It’s a great gaming laptop! For some reason my display settings only shows 165hz, no 240hz option.
cause u bought the 165hz panel there are multiple sub models
There are two screen options. You must have not purchased the more expensive option.
I am a VFX artist, I use Nuke, Blender, Maya, Houdini so wich is better for me ? I don't want PC
In my opinión 5i is enought, you save some bucks and to carry is 200 grams lighter 😄
just get no lower then 8 cores and avoid 3050 and you should be fine
Good😊

man you have so many laptops yet choose legion laptops to be described as "affordable". I aint saying a shill but damn is it "Shill-like" move. Especially when the actual affordable line is the Lenovo LOQ/Geekpro lmao
❤
Lenovo really made their lineup more confusing, they peaked in 2022 and now they are going downhill
Apex Legends on top!!

"Affordable." For whom?
What avg consumer didn't mention is both laptops are over $1500. Who's paying rent money for a laptop?
As people said got to wait for sales. Wish there were more options to pay off these laptops instead of financing.
just got the pro for $950 u gotta look for sales
