On this week’s episode on The Overlap, brought to you by Sky Bet, we are joined by Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe.
Gary Neville meets Eddie in his office at the Newcastle United training ground where the boss gives a fascinating insight into his tactics and playing-style which has brought so much success to his career.
Regarded as one of the finest English managers of the past decade, Howe achieved the near impossible at AFC Bournemouth, taking the club from the bottom end of League 2 to the Premier League in the space of 8 years over two spells in charge.
The former Cherries man talks about how he established his former side as a top-tier outfit before the toll of relegation, plus the lessons he has learnt along the way.
Finally, after a stand-out first full season at St James’ Park where he guided the Magpies back to the Champions League and reached a cup final, Howe talks about the current campaign and his plan to establish Newcastle back in and amongst the elite English clubs.

    • @@dahsellsavon113 I support them because they're my local team. They've won nothing in my first 46 years on this Earth and if they win nothing for the next 46 I'll still support them. Anyone can pick a "winning" side, a Man U in times gone by, a Man City now, but picking a side like that is like turning up at the casino and cheering for the house. Have some character, support your local team through thick and thin. It's way more fun than to just watch on TV from hundreds of miles away in your replica top, pretending you're invested in this somehow when you're not, because all you've done is just picked an already successful side because you want that reflected glory to compensate for your lack of character. So the "you've won nothing" stuff is really pointless, that's not why we go to the match.

Although I may be bias in saying this, but he is one of the most respectable managers in world football. We’ve had over 25 injuries this season and he hasn’t complained once. • I remember a game vs my team Liverpool where I felt he had good arguments of many lousy decisions against his team, like most low or midtier team coaches would do. But instead, he just said his team didn't go for the game plan. And from that alone, I always felt he's different

  • It`s so rare that I listen to a manager talk over a long period of time and dont feel like 75-90% of what he is saying is lipservice and bullshit ment to sound good, Eddie is one of very few where it feels like just about everything he says is actually thought out and has meaning behind it, oozes authenticity
