  • This was a great disappointment to me watching this happen… The CRM to me was the big bad of TWD universe. They built up this international clandestine military that could possibly be heroes or the villains of the apocalypse. This feels like what D&D did with the white walkers in Game of Thrones. We the fans thought we would some epic conclusion by bringing back all the characters fighting the CRM and restoring the world and making it better.

  • The show was great, Rick and Michonne’s relationship felt intense. I don’t even mind that Jadis went down. I could even see that explosion damaging a lot of the front liners ranks at this summit. But they definitely should’ve let Beale and Thorne live to become a problem in the future. We just got to meet this guy in this show after hearing his name bounced around in the other shows. I really doubt Genet is gonna be more of a threat than the CRM when they barely have a working boat.

  • I wouldn't feel as letdown by the CRM plotline if Beale hadn't been involved. If Jadis had been the primary antagonist, they could've ended her story arc and still have Gen Beale saved for a potential future storyline. For instance, they make the cascadia base Jadis' pet project while Beale is back at the CRM. When rick and michonne destroy the facility, Beale could be back at home running damage control to avoid having the CRM military power stripped away by the city. Doing it this way would've ended Jadis' arc, saved Beale for a later time, and maintained the threat of the CRM military for future use. Now that they magically became "good" overnight, who are you future antagonists?

  • I’ll be honest, I didn’t give a shit about the CRM, Rick could’ve killed them all in episode 2 & I would’ve been fine with it, their role in this story was to show us how evil they were, how they prevented Rick from getting home for years & getting defeated by Rick & Michonne. I’ve seen some criticize the last episode saying they rushed it but I disagree, it’s not like Rick & Michonne defeated the entire base with a pistol & a sword, they rigged hundreds of grenades to a chemical agent that took out the entire base. There’s not much else that can be done after that, Rick killing Beale after that awesome speech was epic & the music really made that scene even better. In the end this show did exactly what I wanted, CRM base is dead, Rick & michonne did it… which is what Jadis said they could do & they got back to their kids, perfect ending as far as I’m concerned.

  • I definitely agree with the general analysis. Beale came off as a chump == he totally trusted Rick, with little reason to do so. As you suggested, an episode on Beale could have helped...showing us how he got to his power, and especially why he would have trusted Rick. Really, all the characters we got introduced to were killed in the span of an episode's worth of time. Howeve,r i DID want to clarify about why the main CRM leadership was there.... i think the summit was to invade Portland. Omaha might have seemed significant because of the Campus Colony, but i think they were the weakest , and the "succesful" destruction was a test to see if they could do Portland, which might have been stronger, and perhaps have more resources. Omaha was "secret" so that Portland wouldn't find out and then resist. This meeting of CRM leaders were going to go in and take over Portland... maybe use that as their base of operations, with Phillie being their civilians who help supply Portland (but that the CRM would have a lot of resources to resist Civiv Republic civilian resistence.. As for the CRM lack of security... I COOOOULD stretch that because they were supposedly in a "secure" area where no one was really around...certainly no significant invasion force. . No reason for them to protect the gas. (Wasn't it similar to what happened in World Beyond? I thought THAT was the gas for Portland?) Also, you should have also mentioned that The WOrld Beyond was essentially ignored. For example... they featured Beale's son.... Between World Beyond and this... i don't see him being an effective villain... He was good within World Beyond...but i don't see him smart enough to take over the remnant... A funny comedy sketch would be that the actors from World Beyond are shown to finally arrive in the area (they were headed to save Portland), and then they all choke on the gas that Michonne released ANd i definitely agree that more episodes were needed...but i feel like this was them pivoting from the 3 movies that were promised YEARS ago... So they SHOULD have expanded it as you suggested, but they kept the time frame they wanted. Sorry, one last thought... what the heck was up with Okafor and Thorne? He spent years waiting for Thorne and Rick.... he WANTED them to turn on Beale. But yet Thorne's expereince there made her MORE loyal to the CRM? Okafor was VERY selective in trying to pick the "right" people... another disappointing part of the show.

  • This series was always about Rick and Michonne for sure. But I think the dissappointment for some fans is that the CRM for years was hyped up to be this mysteries large threat that was eventually going to change the TWD Universe. That General Beele was going to play a huge role. But in one episode he was killed after just being in a few short scenes in the series. Now that the frontline elites of the CRM have been wiped out that threat is now just gone. The series was great and loved the ending but just speaking of the CRM story plot that was underwelming. A lot of fans thought that the Rick and Michonne love story was still going to be a part of the overall general CRM storyline. Instead it was just in the background. That is what some fans feel let down about, not the R & M story.

  • I largely agree with your assessment. An additional couple of episodes would have helped (it was much too rushed) However, my expectations going into this is that Rick/Michonne would blow up the Chlorine gas canisters, killing many of the soldiers, and thwarting their plans to attack Portland. Then Rick/Michonne would return to Philly and let the CRC know about the Beale's plans - which would lead to Beale's imprisonment along with his front liners. Then Rick/Michonne could reunite with their family. This would lead to future spin offs that could include the CRM.

  • It was evident from the start that this series was rushed, especially with the abrupt death of Okafor in the first episode. The final episode was particularly disappointing. Overall, investing six hours in this series felt like a waste, especially considering the lack of purpose beyond bringing Rick home. They should have concluded Rick's storyline earlier, perhaps at the Bridge, and focused on other spin-offs. The introduction of variant walkers was intriguing but underutilized in this spin-off. A better briefing could have emphasized the urgency of the threat posed by these variants. Instead, we were left with a lackluster explanation that failed to satisfy. In summary, this series felt pointless. On a brighter note, Daryl Dixon remains a standout series.

  • My whole thing is that not only did they have multiple years to tighten the story but they also had a whole 2 season spinoff that is almost meaningless now. They hyped up Beal for it to lead nowhere, and makes me ask the question " Why do these spinoffs matter?" aside from just watching my favorite characters survive. Hopefully they make the story matter moving forward because right now the only show that can matter in the endgame so far is the Daryl show.

  • The CRM as a whole weren’t evil, the infantry weren’t even aware of the atrocities. It was all Beale and the Frontliners. Since they needed all the Frontliners to destroy Portland, they were all accumulated at Cascadia and the explosion took out the bulk of them as they were gathered for the speech. When they took out the Frontliners, they exposed the atrocities to the CRC and lower levels (and the bulk) of the CRM, the other 13-14k infantry were untouched. Also the explosion was mostly shielded by the containers, it was more of a gas explosion than anything, to which the Frontliners weren’t shielded at all while Rick and Michonne were under cover. Cascadia was built to support the attack on Portland and to evacuate the children. They spent years planning the Portland attack.

  • I genuinely agree how lackluster the CRM became after watching this show/season. Simply because they been building it up for such a long time. But I guess ideas have changed behind the scenes after several years of left in suspense of what new threats awaits or what have you. It’s gonna be interesting where they go from here after this seemly quick arc closer. If they continued the CRM, it’s just gonna be weird now. Forcing it back in will just be awkward. But it’s not the first time this franchise had wonky writing anyway. I really thought the CRM would be the end game. Lol
