From what I have seen here in bengal and in national politics. I have come to conclude that everyone is the same. The development work continues only if there is a strong opposition that can keep the winning party worried of what if they lose the next election.

Dear Aakash, You invited Derek over, we were expecting some hard-hitting questions, some real journalist vs. politician debate, and what do we get? A total snoozefest! Derek was dodging those questions like he's been practicing with a dodgeball team, and Aakash just stood there like he was waiting for his turn to speak at the town hall meeting! I get it, you don't want to ruffle feathers, especially with the first guest from the Opposition, but come on, Aakash, we wanted fireworks, not a lullaby! Having said that, here’s hoping that we would get to see more politicians on your show, answering the hard hitting questions. Also, you can always have Bhakt Banerjee ask the tough questions and come up with the necessary counterarguments, without antagonising the guest! :)

I couldn't tolerate it after 20 minutes. He is really good at redirecting everything to BJP. In all the aspects he criticised BJP, TMC is much much worse in all of those aspects. 1. He started with the problem that Modi is not giving interviews. When did Mamata last appeared in an interview? The last time I remember is many years back, when She ran away after shouting and accusing the interviewer to be a part of opposition. She couldn't even handle an uncomfortable question. She is the biggest authoritarian. 2. He talked about misuse of Police force by BJP. Same thing happens in Bengal and Sandeshkhali is a great example. Police was assisting TMC gundas in all the wrong doings. and when everything came out, police helped the culprits. to hide. (As per the locals) . Even police stopped and arrested oppositions from reaching the place. 3. Then he talked about Corruption. Oh hello, how can someone from TMC talk about corruption? They are the most corrupted party in the country. Jobs, sand, ration, examination, coal you name it and they have done corruption in it. There are enough evidences. 4. He mentioned about SBI and Electoral bonds, TMC received most amount of money after Bjp via electoral bonds and they are present only in 1 state. 0 presence outside of Bengal. Where as BJP is there is the whole country. These people are so shameless. 5. He finds the movement of nandigram and Singur to be great, which took Bengal 50 years backwards. Due to that "great' movement, we have almost 0 industry and jobs here at Bengal. Look at Gujrat now. Bengal could be as developed as Gujrat if not this corrupted party. TMC is not qualified to criticise any political party because you guys are the worst. How shameless you can be to criticise someone else on something where you have done worse on the same things. The entire narrative of mainstream media is controlled by ruling party and all kinds of questions that hold the govt accountable are avoided n discouraged. The way MP's were thrown out in parliamentary sessions, u may say they caused havoc in parliament but is asking the PM to address the issues of manipur in parliament an act of disturbance? BJP too during its opposition status caused ruckus in parliament (which is rightly to do so cuz its the job of ruling govt to be answerable to public) but they were never thrown out. 3. Independent journalists and reporters, activists are locked in bar/entagled in court cases under draconian laws like UAPA where u are "guilty until proven innocent". 4. For the first time we have had a PM who hasn't given press conference for entire 10 years of his regime. That's such a shame cuz if the PM is not accountable then who will be? All in all the govt has used all its muscle force n power to suppress n discourage the culture of questioning the one in power.

BJP is secular to an extent but is Congress completely secular? Because Congress is not really keen on implementing the UCC(uniform civil code which is a secular law) but BJP is keen on implementing this secular law UCC. So clearly BJP is upholding secular values necessary for a healthy democracy. Congress is probably going to let religious personal laws stay in place which will interfere with secular nature of democratic system so this is not a secular move from Congress. And one of the basic principles of secular democracy is to uphold secular values and not let religions interfere with the democratic system

Mr. Akash, I think as a Bengali (I’m not sure if you are currently a WB resident or not), first we should compare us with our glorious past. Starting from education, culture, Science, Tech to even politics. We are the same Bengalis whom the Indians used to follow for all the above-mentioned points to take our country forward. Whereas, today we are one of the worst and most corrupted states in India. One of the top contributors to Bengal’s downfall is TMC and specially Mamta Banerjee. A political party, with probably the highest number of scams done in post-independence era. Not a single industry (even IT) came to Bengal post this lady took the ownership. Furthermore, she asks young educated Bengali people to sell “, Cha”, “Chop-Muri” and “Agarbatti”. How could a generation get aspire to be great when their own Supremo suggest them to be poor so that she can buy their intelligence with Alcohol, Narcotics, Gambling and Rs. 500/per month? I got astonished while an intellectual like Derek is quoting "Great revolution of Singur and Nandigram" where Mamta Banerjee, for sake of her personal wish of ruling Bengal, not only removed a company like Tata from Bengal but doomed the future of Bengali people along with that. Please ask Derek, what happened to the farmers of Singur/Nandigram post those revolutions? The problem with this TMC party is whatever intellectuals are joining this party, he/she has to shut all their sense organs and only say ‘Yes’ to whatever bullshit that lady is speaking. Or else, how could a bullshit writer like her gets “Sahityapith” award from its own Government after raping our Bengali literature?
