A state of many contrasts, North Carolina is home to beaches, forests and mountains with conservative towns and liberal-leaning cities tucked away amidst them. With epic outdoor activities and communities to explore and, of course, old-time Southern charm; the Tar Heel State is a fascinating place to visit. While its shoreline is home to lots of barrier islands, the Piedmont region is made up of rolling hills and fertile farms. In the west are the beautiful Blue Ridge Moutains which boast the highest peaks east of the Mississippi. Here’s a look at the best places to visit in North Carolina:
I live in Central NC. 3-4 hrs to the beach and 3 -4 hours to the mountains. 1 hr to Raleigh and less than 2 hrs to Charlotte. I went to the Outer banks a couple years ago. And going to the The Great Smoky Mountains and Cherokee this year. I love NC and think its a great state to live, but i haven't lived anywhere else in my 40+ years. I think ive been to all these places in this video. Wonderful!
You can't go wrong with any of these 10 places!! North Carolina is a GORGEOUS State from the breathtaking views of the mountains to the beach and the big cities in-between!!!! ❤❤❤
Tbh as an North Carolinian I can honestly say it’s easy to forget how much there is to do, great state
Fr like the town i live in there is this ghost walk through thing and i just heard about it but people say it’s really popular
BEAUTIFUL NORTH CAROLINA ❤️
Beautiful State. Loved here almost all of my life. Every place you selected is lovely but a wee bit bias towards the mountains. The lower outerbanks down to Emerald Isle, is amazing. Beaufort is incredible. Wild horses roam many of the islands, not just the northern. Carrot Island, Shackleford Banks have ponies, although their DNA shows they are full grown horses most likely from Spanish shipwrecks in the 1500 and 1600s. Incredible state.
I hear Beaufort is beautiful in the autumn. I would go just to see sights from A Walk to Remember.
@@truediva18 very true. Beaufort is beautiful.
Isn’t Beaufort in South Carolina??
@@susanr5967 hi, there are two - Beaufort NC, Beaufort SC. Beaufort NC (pronounced bow-fort) and Beaufort SC (pronounced bu-fert). Both are beautiful, quaint, coastal towns. I’m partial to Beaufort NC because I live in this area.
I loved my time in the USAF. I was at a remote site between Havelock and Morehead City. Best fishing ever, wonderful weather and beach girls! 45 years later and I still miss it.
I LOVE NC. felt at home when I first moved here in the 1980s! Found out my relatives came here in 1770s and settled in Boone!!!
North Carolina is also the birthplace of Krispy Kreme in Winston Salem and Cheerwine in Salisbury!
Also Pepsi Cola ❤
Salisbury also where Food Lion and Stanback originated
Lexington NC rich history of textile and furniture manufacturing, still producing furniture. Home to the Lexington Barbecue, quiet neighborhoods, tree lined streets and busy Uptown Lexington’s shops, restaurants, pubs and development of the Depot District and a new High Speed Amtrak station ( construction begins soon) and home to the Bob Timberlake Gallery - southern Artist and Furniture designer! Lexington is minutes from Winston Salem/ Greensboro and less than an hour from Charlotte and the Charlotte Douglas Airport …
My two favorites are the OBX and Wilmington. Beautiful beaches. Clean and not overcrowded.
I'll be playing my trombone in Old Salem on Dec. 3rd, 10th, and 17th, dressed in my 18th century Moravian clothing.
Love visiting Old Salem
Bro that's cool I live close by
At the 5:22 the narrator is talking about the Biltmore estate, but the clip is showing the Omni Grove Park Inn. I recommend making a lunch or dinner at the Omni Park Inn. Also, take a tour of the Biltmore Estate too. The Biltmore is at the 5:53 mark.
I came here to say this exact same thing! Didn't do their research very well. I was at grocery park a year ago for 2 weeks! Amazing stay!
Id have to say Lake James and the Linville River Gorge is one of the most beautiful places I've ever been. And I've been around. ♥️NC from FL.
Absolutely amazing!🤩
I've been to half of these. This video has inspired me to go back. Beautiful mountains and coast. I found the people to be friendly and hospitable too.
Watching this because my client lives here. God, It's such a beautiful place ❤
Is someone who lives in North Carolina and has their entire life I just wanna say the places you chose are insanely beautiful
Born and raised in Mocksville, NC. I love it here.
29 years lived here. Love it
Spring summer NC is great 👍
My dad was stationed at Fort Fisher at Carolina Beach in 1960 .I was born in Wilmington at James Walker Hospital. Beautiful area. ❤❤❤❤
You didn't mention the Cherokee Qualla Boundary (reservation) great museum, 1800's village, Unto These Hills out door summer preformance, Casino with Shows, fishing, camping, Native Crafts, and more, etc... Also close to Bryson City and the Railroad ride,Natahala National Forest, kayacking, camping, fishing, tubing, etc... and close to Gatlinburg TN and Dollywood, Pidgeon Forge ,TN Just come down the Blue Ridge Parkway to Cherokee. Hendersonville, NC the Labor Day weekend Apple Festival, Great shops, local brewery's and wineries, Flat Rock Playhouse (the state theater), Carl Sandburg Home, and guess what Chimney Rock State Park is only 15 miles from Hendersonville. Western NC is the place to visit.
Agree
Agree. Cherokee was the highlight of our two weeks in the USA
So many actors and singers as well. I love living in Charlotte, born & raised. ❤
Luke Combs one of the latest.
Yeah 👍
i stayed 20 days in New Hanover County .. i loved the place and looking forward to coming back soon
Amazing North Carolina... 👌
I love north Carolina so much I was stationed there for 4 years and working to get back in the military hope to be stationed there cause I'm gonna move there
I’m so lucky to live on the Outer Banks… it’s heaven on earth
Don't tell many people! I live in an area that was voted best neighborhood one year and the developers swooped in and destroyed the neighborhood. Now, I'm getting out.
I don't know how you can afford it but god bless you. My wife and i are Retired Military and are planning moving to the East Coast of NC but probably can't afford there. We're 65 🙁.
@@projectkj7643 Sadly, most people are wanting to flock to the Southeast now. East Tennessee has been invaded like you wouldn't believe. We're all stacked up on each other now and it's awful. Lived here all my life and people from all over are moving here in droves but mostly from New York, New Jersey and California. It's ruined. Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina are getting hit really hard with millions of people descending daily. We're the new Florida.
Thank you to let me know a place like that!
The outer banks are beautiful. My son just moved to Holly Ridge. I am following shortly.
So beautiful👍👍
Very very beautiful place thanks
I rent a house for family to come in and get together at Corolla every year. We go RVing numerous times a year at Camp Hatteras. Love it down there.
I adore my home state! This could easily be a top 100 destinations for there are SO many beautiful sights all across The Old North State. Great highlight video! Gotta shout out to all our NC festivals and diverse music genres as a major highlight we are certainly blessed with! Some may say it comes from the Sweet Tea Suga! Y'all come back now ya hear~
💜💜
WOW ! Gracias ! Que Bonita N.CAROLINA ! 😊🌹🤗❤

Nice to see that you’re pretty current. Light rail going through Uptown Charlotte and the Grand Bohemian Hotel there happened pretty recently. 👍
I am actually moving to Wilmington North Carolina. I’m excited
My children is living Babu in Raleigh papa Charlotte we are this places is also seeing last July summer vacation My Husband and I am so happy Places so super superb 👌
😮😮🥰 una maravilla
This is awesome...🥰
I grew up in Greensboro NC and tell the Mrs I wish we still lived in the state (our home state of VA is nice too though). My siblings and I were taken repeatedly from one corner of the state to the other as a kid, so I have been to every place listed here. I might have included the NC Zoo and mentioned Boone with the Blue Ridge Parkway and Cherokee with the Smokies. Otherwise, it is a great list.
yooo im from greensboro too
New Subscriber you video is very informative and we enjoy them very much thanks.
So Beautiful thank you
Love all the places
I have the great pleasure of living in #3🥰🥰

May I suggest Southport, NC. This place has so much history! And the best crab cakes!
Did You Know that North Carolina is the birthplace of Pepsi-Cola? The fact that Pepsi-Cola was invented in North Carolina is another intriguing fact about the state. North Carolina native and medical student Caleb Davis Bradham was an apprentice at a neighborhood pharmacy. He was obliged to discontinue his studies due to a personal emergency and return to New Bern, where he established his own pharmacy. He produced "Brad's drink," a beverage to help digestion, in 1893; it quickly gained popularity and eventually evolved into what we now know as Pepsi.
Really I never know that! thanks for the info
Cheerwine was invented in NC, too.
Cheerwine is also from North Carolina
@@bobmarlowe3390 As were a variety of moonshines. 😁😁😁
The Pepsi museum in New Bern NC is a neat place . It's in a nice area .
spent two years in Raleigh NCSU, loved this cityu, it's a pity i haven't got a chance to visit half of the places on the list.
So beautiful and nice. hope to visit someday
No don't. .I criminal captial of the world
Start with the Blue Ridge Parkway and try to take in a show at the Blue Ridge Music Center. Be sure you come early enough to tour the little blue grass museum. High elevation so it is chilly at night, even in August.
@@stefanpigford2620 lol no it is not.
My ancestors are from North Carolina, I would love to visit one day!!!! It's beautiful!!!❤️

moved to hampstead n.c. , it is the seafood capital of the carolinas, and just love it here and we are ready to dtart exploring the state, actually going to blowing rock and ashville next week.the people here are very friendly and respectful.your video is amazing, thanks.
I did my Christmas shopping in Blowing Rock. There’s shops with local pottery, candles, and the The Mountain Thread Company if you like quilting & crafts. Also, Camp Coffee is a local coffee shop with good coffee. (My special favorite is their Everything and the Kitchen sink cookie).
Welcome!!! I grew up in Burgaw ❤
Amazing
Very excited place...Jan apik tenan...Its from Java indonesia

Beautiful America
I’m a Canadian who, over decades, has enjoyed - even loved - NC. However, the more I experienced it, the more divisive politics and explicit/tacit racism and intolerance has kept me away. There’s wonderful people there and Southern hospitality is real. Hope things improve, I truly do.
Omg get over it it’s the south
@@katiel1979 Not sure what I have to get over, I’ve always found the South a fine place with fine people. But, recently I’ve found something (the divisive politics?) has emboldened the underbelly. Maybe the hate has always been there, but I’ve heard more overtly racist and generally hateful comments than ever. Anyway, don’t want to offend anyone; best to live and let live . . . right?
Sounds like things are pretty divisive up north too
@@reapthewhirlwind4166 You’re not wrong, but doesn’t the toxicity reside in the dosage?
Just curious- when you say intolerance- are you referring to opinions that differ from yours?
Can’t believe you did not mention Pinehurst area. Great area, Cradle of American Golf. Soon to be home to a USGA Site, Golf Hall of Fame and one of the anchor courses for the US Open. Also beautiful horse country.
Soo beautiful
So beautiful place ❤❤❤
Very butiful place
#11 Braxton Bragg mansion, museum and property. Situated on 200 acres of land it allows a tour of the 6000 sq ft home of the general and the adjoining museum, gift shop and restaurant which serves period food with Southern charm the gardens are beautiful in the Spring and Summer.
We are moving to Wilmington soon from Newport, VT near the Canadian Border. Reasons: family, (some family is already there with more to come) ocean, weather, access to stores. Can hardly wait!!!
Hello 👋how’re you doing?
Welcome to my neck of the woods. 😊

Wow looks Nice I was supposed to go and join my boyfriend there and get a Green card but we have broke up, now I am so attracted to the place, I live in France and I really wish to visit North Carolina, looks amazing with Hills and trees of all coulors
And technically, the Charlotte Motor Speedway is in Concord.
Harrisburg in Cabarrus county, not Concord.
I like you video
If you haven't found Mount Pilot you don't know what you're missing. Plus don't forget the blue Ridge Parkway. There is just so much to see and do in the whole state of North Carolina. Just saying from Michigan
i have visited 8 of this list. I live in the #1 place outer banks and it deserves to be on first place. still didn't mention all areas.
NC is the furniture capital of the world High Point, NC and boring like a dark cloud hovering over the city (my spiritual gift).... Durham Bulls Baseball Team, in Durham and The Durham Arts Theater... Jacksonville has a beach also. High Point has a baseball Team, called the HP Rockers....Greensboro has a baseball team, and The Boston House of Jazz Club, and a Natural Science Center. Raleigh has a State Fair every year. The Carolina Panters used to have a football field in Charlotte, but not sure if they still do. The mountains in Hickory & Asheville are nice. Several places are growing with a few things to do in different cities in NC, on a yearly basis. I love Cary, Mebane and Mooresville, they are nice. They are not too congested, with traffic.
I used to watch Derek Jeter play baseball in Greensboro.
North Carolina actually has TWO state fairs, the first one being the Western North Carolina State Fair in Fletcher (south of Asheville), in early September.
Don't forget the OG number 23 is from here.
The Panthers are still here but getting too woke for my taste so I don't go to the games anymore. It is pretty cool how the whole city is lit up in Panther blue for night games.
Imagine living there
Go to mocksville. Its a queut and small town with good food and ice cream.
We love to have people visit but don’t try to change us. Enjoy our state but don’t be rude or abrasive. Please thank you yes ma’am no sir. Are all still used and appreciated. Kure beach is pronounced Cure E Come see us 😊
Thhe blue ridge parkway is the place to go !
Its good aria

Kure beach. Oh boy. Not sure its pronounced that way. Great place as is Carolina beach board walk.

Chimney Rock / Lake Lure are nice and quiet towns.

I live in NC and Raleigh is nice but…boring the nightlife is sadly lacking. Charlotte should be the capital however, it also leaves something to be desired. But, the jobs and pay are worth all of the sleepy night life.
Yeah I live in Asheville where there is a nightlife, but unless you want to be a server or work in a brewery, not a lot of professional jobs.
So.. you've never been to Glenwood South or the Warehouse district?
That's NC. I from burgaw....
Never done night life in Raleigh but Charlotte has good downtown and plenty to do.
That was the Grove Park Inn not Biltmore Estate.
Friendliest city in NC is definitely Greenville
I wish to visit Great Smoky Mountains NP and Blue Ridge Parkway in the fall. Any suggestions what would be a good time frame to be there in NC? Thanks in advance.
Hi how are you doing?
Fall, during leaf season though you will pay peak hotel rates at this time.
@@havis4ever407 You can camp and cabin rebtals are cheap
End of October early November go to MINGO FALLS!
Early October is best leaf color. The entire Parkway is great, but I particularly recommend the stretch from Asheville to Boone. Lively fun towns on both ends with breathtaking scenery in between. Hotels are expensive at that time though, especially in Boone if App State has a home football game in addition to all the fall color watchers.
Grandfather mountain/ boone not listed?!
Boone NC
GO TO DIGGERS DUNGEON IN OUTER BANKS!
Not gonna lie. As a Texan, NC does look highly appealing Im sorta stuck down here in Houston for the foreseeable future sadly. But, if I ever end up with feds chasin' after me (God almighty forbid) or smth. Then NC would prolly be my go to state. The Elizabeth City area is especially beautiful
Beautiful places. Too bad it’s on the East coast. It would’ve certainly attracted Chinese tourists. Going from China to USA is like traveling back in time, going from 21st century to 20th century, there are so many natural scenes to adore, thanks to the ancestors of this land.
Hi how’re you doing?
Hanging Rock State Park might not make my Top 10 state parks in NC...much less my top 10 to do list.
Correction: Charlotte, NC is NOT A Stone's toss away from South Carolina. Unless you think 3 hours is a skip in the park drive??
What you clearly don't know what you're talking about. Charlotte sits on SC border.

I Love This State Why Don't They Mention Small Towns Like Sanford And Dunn.
