DIY HOT Wheels Race Truck Powered by 2x CO2 Cartridges
In today's video I show you how to make wooden hot wheels truck powered by 2x CO2 cartridges. It got too much power, so as result the truck is quite unstable. Anyway, we get interesting race between 2017 race car model and 2018 truck. Who wins?
Also, we made automatic launchers for each car to let them start at the same time.

This is so cool!!! I did this in 7th grade, in workshop. The wood we used was really light. We used a fishing line and hooks to keep the cars from going off the track.

Cub Scouts back in the 70's use to build these and race them using Co2 cartridges! Cool!!

Now this video reminds me of back in the 80's when my younger brother made these types of cars in his science class. They where cool then and cool now..
When the truck ran straight, it was easily the better creation of the two. 👌🏽

We did this 25yrs ago, in my 8th grade enrichment program. We, however, put eyelet screws under the cars and ran fishing libe through. It kept all cars straight and controlled. Your race has its merits, but it would have been nice to see that truck hit max velocity :)

We made these in jr.high... although we used eye screws and string to keep them on a straight path! On the gym floor was a looong run!! Great memories!!
😊Man, You done beat me to it. We used ti call them Rocket cars back at Jr. High which is now call middle school. Two cars line up on a string using eye screw. And the teacher used launcher, and they blazing down the hallway. I like to bring that back.

The high school I went too had a co2 drag race tournament every year in the grade 10 science class. The science teacher had made this this pretty hack contraption for launching two cars at the same time, it was pretty unreliable, my dad had a small machine shop and we ended making this really sweet launcher that had hardened steel punches that fired at the exact same time and made the same size hole in each co2 cartridge. This video reminded me of that. I know good story

Parm Mohan no its a center of force the motors are sitting too high on the truck using the cab like a leaver to flip forward the co2 needs to be mounted lower like the car
mongo00126 Really? You think a centimeter or two will make a difference on the center of force? I disagree with you. You would be right if these were bigger, but they are not. The blunt air friction is slowing down the truck and causing turbulence so it goes off the track. The wedge car has the air pushing the car down and holding it to the track.

Sometimes there are too much push at Mad Truck's rear and lighter weight on the rear so the Rear part gets air time causing the lost of balance and giving the whole car a spinny air time which is quite fun to watch.

Lol We built these in 7th grade shop class. It's lots of fun and an easy way to get young people into working with their hands. The truck needs more weight in the wheels.

This brings back memories, we used to make one of these in my locomotive/automotive class in grade 11, we usually put like a metal that loops around the string that was stretched across the room so it would stay on track/in a straight line.

I remember in grammar school a kid did this with wooden boyscout style car 1974 crazy but this one is on steroids I like it a lot!!!!👍🏼
We did these in HS shop class. Then I discovered a model rocket engine is the same diameter as a CO2 cartridge! I hit the "GO" button on my rocket car the same time the other kid popped the CO2 cart. He got the hole shot because of the slight delay for the Rocket Engine to light off but my car passed his and won. AND shattered to bits when it hit the 2x4 at the end...

I remember those cars in shop class in school.
Truck needs wider bottle caps in the front for more grip I think. Because the car had no issues going down the track.
Co2's on the truck should be top and bottom instead of side by side. That way even if the pressure is uneven the truck wont be pushed side to side uncontrollably...just a thought

my grandfather used to tell me about how they would do this in military school as a kid but instead of a track they used string running through eyelets attached to the car and he also had a a handle that resembled a syringe that was used to pop the CO2 cartridges

Unless both co2 cartridges are generating the same output flow rate, the combined thrust vector wouldn't be straight and this explains why the truck had the tendency to veer off the track.
sjm4306 That and the fact that the thrust vector was above the centre of gravity, thus lifting the rear wheels off the track and allowing the front wheels to pivot more easily.

I agree but also The fact that The wheels are bottle caps and put on by a really thin spike also makes it really unstable
The angle of the thrusters are slightly higher and not leveled. Making the truck push downward.
Kinda hmm, and above advantage the car has perfect downside angle of card, to either not sheer across or hit and fall apart.
