Wood turning Beer Mug from American Black Walnut
In this video, I create Beer Mug. I am turning American black walnut and woodturning it into a beer mug. Woodturning beer mug is one of my best projects. I made few of this beer mugs with wood turning already and I am planning to do more, even with epoxy resin. I would love to see how you made the handles. I'm guessing scroll saw. I did like how you sanded them with the mugs under to give proper contact surfaces.
I will record video next time. These time i forget. These time i use jigsaw for inside and outside than than i router to round edges

The cups are just stunningly beautiful. However, I am confused. What did you coat the interior with? and why did you mask off the exterior? Different coating?
O thank you. For this mug client didn't want the samecoatingfor inside and outside. So i coat inside with epoxy resin and for outside Propolitura

Can mugs like this be used for hot beverages like tea and coffee? That’s what I am looking for
for hot drinks, such as tea and coffee, I usually use epoxy resin coating. If you don't like epoxy, it can be coated with Propolitura, which is completely natural, but Propolitura or any other coating that isn't epoxy is removed over time but you can still drink from mug.

Are those handles strong enough to handle hot/cold and weight + inevitable lateral force? ie. Is there a danger of a future lawsuit🤔
This handle is strong enough because i have this beer mug at home and is like new. If you mean lawsouit because of epoxy resin, this epoxy resin have certificate for food safe

Nice work. Did you use some sort of tumbler for the resin not to clog or get high spots?
No i use paint brush for coating the resin. I also want that resin coat the bottom of the mug that is flat and like glass

I have used epoxy resin that is certified as food safe. This resin is from Samson Kamnik (Aqares)
Will it wear off over time?
Epoxy Resin when is hard is like plastic so no it will not wear it😊

Why start of with such an uncylinder shape on the lathe? You could have saved a ton of time by just lengthwise cutting off those 4 corners.
