Secret life of Horses

Horses are amazing creatures and certainly to watch them play is something extraordinary. It's a magical moment when a half-ton animal jumps playfully up the air like a little kitten...
All horses here are adult horses, the youngest are Corona and Blue they are 9 year old. On a quiet evening, all of them get into this playful behavior and they take off running across the meadow bucking and jumping... for no apparent reason. My best explanation is that they are happy and in an excellent mood, they
exuburantly release energy with this kind of play.
Extra credit to Corona who was fully involved with me in making this video ..

  • Wow!! I saw wild horses behaving like that !!! That is so amazing !!! You provide to your horses an environment that allows them to be like wild !!! Around 15 years ago, I was getting my Bachelors in biology, and I went study fishes on one not inhabited island called "Ilha Grande," in the south of Brazil. People and cowboys from the surrounding told us that there were some wild horses on this island that end up there in the early eighteenth century after their ship sank. So I was working on the island near a big lake when I felt the ground vibrate and I heard the muffled sound of hooves on the grass, I turned around to check it out, and then I saw a bunch of horses running with their long, thick horsehair shining on the sun. They were going to drink water and when they get there, they jumped and kicked as your horses did. There were young, adults and babies. It was an incredible moment for me, I came to know what is a horse for real and I felt happy. It was if I could feel each cell of their bodies was exhaling wildness. They are intelligent and magnificent animals, with a wild spirit made for speed and to be free.

  • Every work day, I drive by a gelding who spends his life either locked in a cold, damp stall or penned in an often muddy 20' x 20' pen. I think he gets ridden maybe once a month. It breaks my heart not only that he is alone, but that he never runs free like these beautiful, lucky creatures. People don't appreciate horses.

    • I was thinking the same thing... I know of all of the BLM round ups, murders, brutal castrations, etc all to make way for the cattle industry. What will they do when they have murdered all of the wild horses and burros and there is no more land left to destroy....?!!!

      @sanibel624@sanibel6245 жыл бұрын
    • sanibel island How many deduce what you have? How many know that their support of the cattle industry, by buying beef, is supporting what you described? How many know what unattended free range cattle do to their environment, camping out by the water source, not migrating like the mustangs do, not light on the range like the mustangs are, not foraging widely, but eating vegetation down to the ground, pulling the last of it out by the roots, leaving the land denuded and barren of life, tromping heavily in the one area, creating a muddy, devastated, eroded mess. More and more, we are seeing them brought into Forest Service areas. Just recently they were brought into the lower Salt River of Arizona, where the BLM has tried in the past to remove the Mustangs there. The Mustangs do receive supplemental feed during times of drought, and now somehow, magically, they figure this same F.S. terrain can support free range cattle too?? It has been a BEAUTIFUL area, and now it's going to be trashed by the cattle. SMH. :( The argument they give is 2 > that the horses are starving (no, they aren't), and that they're a non-native species. CATTLE are a non-native species!! The third I've heard is that there are no natural predators to limit their numbers. WHAT are Mountain Lions?? Horses and foals are lost to Mountain Lions. None of these arguments are valid; they are ruses > false claims. The Wild Horse and Burro Act of 1971 is being defied. They talk a big talk about the number of horses an area can support, while they introduce thousands of cattle to the western range, taking out of the mouths of deer, elk and mustangs. They talk about the value of the environment, and managing it, but cattle destroy it. The F.S. lands used to be gorgeous. SMH. See the Salt River Wild Horse Management Group (SRWHMG) channel on YT, they are very active on Facebook, and they have a website. A recent short video shows the cattle pushing the horses out of the feeding station. The horses will yield, of course. Do people know that Mustang Mares and Fillies are being darted with infertility drugs to further limit their foals? It seems that Man (in power) only cares about money and power, control and greed, shortsightedly destroying the natural system of Life that supports us all. Freedom and Life aren't respected, and lies are told to deceive the people. Only those willing to do their homework know what's going on. And then, as the commodities that the powers think these animals are, even the slaughtered mustang meat is sold to the high dollar European delicacy-meat market. I've heard that adopting a mustang through their program, that the horse is still owned by the BLM, not the adopter. The adopters are required to have shelters and meet criteria that the horses left out in the sun at Nevada BLM corrals (for years) don't have. Is that consistent with their requirements? How is it that adopters can only adopt a small number of horses, yet major players outbidding regular folk are allowed to take 100-200 mustangs? When kill-buyers take mustangs, are those horses still "owned" by the BLM? The terminology reveals falsehoods. Are kill-buyers required to meet the criteria and to take good care of the Mustangs, including inspections and visits from the BLM? How would that work, exactly? It seems that everyone at auctions know what's going on, yet the inconsistencies go on.

    • @@cacatr4495 that is very sick I am so sorry you are privileged to this knowledge. I've heard it said but sometimes you can't save the whole world but you can save someone in front of you that's all we can do. And it does make a difference if everyone is willing to live the same way. Kind of like people who actually go in and buy back some of these kids boys and girls who are kidnapped and pushed into the military or sex slavery in Africa by the militant groups. People go in and actually offer money for them to the militant groups. Some people say they are promoting that so the military will capture more for money but honestly not so many people are willing to do that.

Jumping up and down twirling, throwing himself around on top of a big pile of dirt (in our back yard when we were excavating for work to be done) ahhhhhh the life of a boy. • It is joyful to watch the horses burst with the spirit and energy that they were designed to express. I love contemporary dance and it occurs to me that horses like to dance spontaneously and are beautiful at it. It’s a core form of expression, using the whole body as a both tool and material form. It feels so natural and direct as opposed to using another tool to transform your creativity through a secondary vehicle like paint or a musical instrument. I guess successful artists use tools and materials as direct extensions of the self. Horses are expressing the joy inherent in their lives and it is contagious. Corona wants you to join in the fun and games and go run, jump and dance with them all! Have you? Thank you for sharing these moments of pure pleasure. I laughed out loud with Corona. And maybe next time you will bring more apples if you like your boots.

  • They're just sooooo cool to watch. I haven't ridden a horse in about 40 years. I could watch them for hours.

  • My step brother used to raise quarter horses and breed them in Orlando Florida. At that time I was living with my step-brother and he gave me an albino quarter horse. the horse was beautiful.

  • Like the birds in the sky they have what’s called murmuration flying in a patterned unison looking joyful, the horses do similarly running out a pattern of twists and turns . . . How lovely. I also totally cracked up when I saw Corona chewing on your boot 🥾 !!! She’s a joker !! Too much fun 🤩 I’m so glad for you to share life with these majestic creatures. ♥️♥️♥️
