Absolutely blood-curdling, heartbreaking, devastating moments for Canadian Bianca Andreescu, who injured her ankle early in the second set of her fourth-round match against Ekaterina Alexandrova and had to leave the court in a wheelchair.

    • @@kim267 Yes, but that does not mean she will win the second set, she was behind 40-15 in the third game of the second set, so technically 2-1. She lost the first set 7-6. She has a history of faking injuries and is quite a drama queen. If the injury is serious then she will be out for at least 5-6 months recovering if she plays in the French Open then she's faking it, again.

      @CaptainNippon@CaptainNippon Жыл бұрын
    • @@CaptainNippon, I disagree. Being behind 15-40 doesn't mean the game is over. Been there many times to turn it around. Bianca's turned it around quite a few times. You may think she's a drama queen but that doesn't mean she's not injured. People feel pain in different degrees. When my daughter was a toddler she could do a face plant onto a coffee table and not say boo but my son would scream bloody murder about a paper cut. We all feel pain differently. Unless you are her doctor you can't make that call.

    • @@kim267 You're delusional and you're making up false narratives. She lost the first set and the second set was going to be 2-1. She hasn't won a tournament since the US Open, which means she has lost her match to someone at every tournament she played in. You're making it sound like she was going to win or something. Let's find out if she can play at the french open in 6 weeks. If this injury is serious, no way she'll be ready to play in 6 weeks unless she fakes her injury and put on a show for everyone to see. You don't cry like that and all of a certain you're good to go for the French Open.

  • I can't say whether Bianca exaggerated or not. What I can say is when she cried "not again" this reflects a genuine heartbreak of someone who has had continuous bad luck and must be dismayed and terrified at the thought of another long layoff. A lot of judgment in these comments, but I can completely understand why in the shock of the moment the outburst was this intense

I did gymnastics and ballet for quite awhile, and I loved it, but I had an accident that resulted in a devastating knee injury (bucket-handle meniscus tear, MCL and LCL tears, and needed surgical repairs). I couldn't come back from that; been almost 15 years, and I have chronic dislocations, pain and weakness. Some injuries you just don't come back from, and you know that as an athlete. The sorrow of knowing all your work could be gone, it's heartbreaking.

Knee injuries, particularly where the meniscii are badly torn with issues involving depletion of cartilage, are among the most devastating for dancers, gymnasts, and athletes generally. I have never been a competitive level athlete but used to train to participate in foot races and have trained to run a marathon. I developed arthritis and the orthopedic doctor told me that arthritis is genetic and nothing I did or didn't do caused it. There are people who are very physically active and never develop arthritis and there are couch potatoes who never develop arthritis. And alternately there are physically active people who develop arthritis and also couch potatoes who develop arthritis. • What exactly do you think "better medical staff" was going to do for her? And who would these better medical staff people be? Certified Athletic trainers know what they are doing. The athlete was clearly aware that she damaged her ankle , I don't know her history but she appears to be reacting to a reinjury or a similar injury from her past and she knows it's probably going to involve surgery and close to a year of rehab. That's an emotional reaction that anyone would have. Within minutes she stops crying and sits up. When she hears the fans cheering for her, again, she cries (I don't blame her). End of the day, the trainer is trying to stabilize the leg and watch for signs of shock. Then it's off to the hospital for xrays, MRI and plans for surgery.

  • Ummm . . . EXCUSE ME . . . but this video shows NOTHING of s player's injury. Nothing of what or how it happened, and nothing of the injury itself, We see 5'39" of a player lying on the ground crying, AFTER some sort of ankle injury, then being wheeled off the court. Which ankle was injured? How did it happen? This is NOT what I consider "ENTERTAINMENT"!

  • Everyone handles pain differently. While delivering for UPS I slipped on the last step getting out of my UPS truck and happened to land on a crack in the sidewalk. I turned my ankle so bad it I had cuts on the outside of my ankle bone..... One slab of the concrete sidewalk was an inch higher that the other. I had complete tears of my anterior talofibular ligament (ATFL) and the calcaneofibular ligament (CFL)... While I had no broken bone, I did have to have cartilage fragments removed from the ankle... I will say that it has been the most painful injury I have ever had. Fortunately I was able to hop on one foot about 30 yards into the building I was delivering to...(this was prior to cell phones..at least for me) where I was able to call the UPS center... I didn't have the luxury of just laying on the ground,,,,, hope she was able to recover(I see this is 5 months old...)

  • I had a really bad fall in 2012 where I broke my ankle 3 places. I was crying from pain and shock, I was on summer vacation and it was over in a heartbeat. Until you have been in that situation you can't say why someone is upset. If she had injury after injury the poor girl can cry all she wants. She's probably frustrated, mad, sad and in pain. I have had 5 surgeries since that break so I can understand some of what she's feeling.

  • Ahh i can f**** feel this!!! Omg! That constant injury after injury, when you're so close to your dream and your body just wont cooperate! The heartbreak is as 10x worse than the pain itself. Another dream crushed 😣. I dont even think she is crying because of the pain. Usually with that adrenaline in the body, the pain is not as bad as it will be later on. I feel for her. Please dont give up on that dream, take as much time you need to recover, that dream will always be there waiting for you no matter how long and torturous the journey is. Sending prayers ❤

  • Now I’ve been reading these comments about this girl and how what happened to her isn’t a big deal. Now think about this, you want to play a sport, maybe tennis, basketball, baseball, or whatever sport you want to play, and think that there are no injuries that go along with the sport you choose to play, but there are. Pain is real people, even I’ve been there with jump rope. I gave myself shin splints from that, and was it painful? Yes it was. I knew it wasn’t the end of the world, but it was painful. So this pain she’s experiencing is REAL and so is the struggle. So quit calling her a drama queen or any other negative name. Be mindful of others

  • I think yes the injury hurt but the realization she’s going to be out again for a couple months after not playing at all in 2020 and limited the last two seasons is even more what’s hurting. When she’s at her best she can beat anyone. Can she just get healthy and STAY healthy. I hope so
