Cerakey just made a full ceramic keycap set, so it’s time to build the thockiest of thocky keyboards.

Spacebar sounds more like a "tick" instead of thocc. If they hollow it out even more maybe you'll hear a thocc but it won't be fuller because of the material used.
Do a hippyo and fill it with play-doh
@@MagnificentPez Lets make it even heavier! /s

yah i like keyboards that thoc or whatever but man that space bar does have a sound of its own.....i duno how long before it started to get annoying, which is why i made my keyboard mostly quiet.
It might get annoying, but that spacebar sound is unlike any custom keyboard I have heard. It's unique and should be kept imo.
I actually really like how glassy the spacebar sounds
This 100%
DH Themed ceramic keys WHEN?
The space bar sounds freaking amazing. It's like having an alien telling you "NICE" every time you finish a word.
Imo it sounded flat and dead.

Incredible description, worthy of a pin
How can you say the spacebar is good? Legit reminds me of unmodded stabilisers. Ruins the whole thing.
As a programmer, I feel threatned with the lack of labels on those keys
Same, was scrolling until I found a comment like this.
Started to get into coding aswell, but don't understand. Why is the lack of labels an issue?
hehe same here. As a non-US guy I also have no idea how I would be able to write a simple sentence with only 107 keys. Not to mention that all sorts of special keys are keys on the US layout but for non-US, almost every special character needs finger-acrobatics with ALT, right ALT and CTRL to make. And since this Company only make 107 Keys... it is a US-Layout Keyboard manufacturer only.
Best way to build your muscle memory
@@Sedeerah I think bc of all the special characters you use frequently (slashes, colons, hashtag, etc). Still possible but yeah I could never use unlabeled keys ha
I’m excited for the different materials people are trying to make for boards! It’s things like this that will bring the custom world to anew era! I don’t think I will pick these up because I like higher pitched poppy sounds, but I do enjoy the effort here!
@⬆️ in the wrong Did some rough searches and seemed like ppl were already going this wild ages ago. Found pics of a bamboo one back in 09', all kinds of wood/metal ones in 15', and ceramic/jade ones during 18/19'. Didn't trace sources so probably existed even earlier. Guess I'm way too late to the party.
@@dbGHOSTs there is a saying that if an idea pops up into your head then it's most probably already thought about many others before. Unique ideas come from thinking about something for days... or was it worded somehow differently, can't remember... whatever never mind lol
The combination of the resin case and the ceramic keycaps genuinely looks gorgeous.. BUT WHERE DID YOU BUY THE GENGAR?! I WANT IT. :))
Likely etsy
it was an old tomy toy. somewhere from '97-'99 I think.
@@cecilk729 yeah this is correct, and it’s kinda insane Frank has this (or ig not, he spends a lot for the channel after all) Unless this is his from childhood, one of that figure in good condition goes for a good chunk of money on eBay
@@zeromythosver. I looked them up afterwards and they aren't bad at all, honestly. $20-35. Sealed go for $200, but the plastic on the box is yellowed all to hell lol.
Got it in Justy's garage sale now he is done making videos with Bames
I saw this when they first started the kickstarter. Awesome to see that they are branching out and performing. I dee them becoming very big, very soon.
Immediately backed this project, the glow you get from rgb is insanely unique
The test with the gateron inks sounded super clean and satisfying, I think that individual tap might be my favorite of the bunch.
That scene with the transparent switches was rad. I hope other creators pick that idea up for comparisons. Very cool
I supported this kickstarter and I just got the keycaps the other day. I am in love with them. I don't think I would buy another set of GMK keycaps again unless there is a really nice colour way I haven't seen or have something similar too. The sound is amazing, using it on a mode65 with copper plate and brass bottom. Such a nice marble deep thock sound. Feels like I am typing on an ancient relic found in some far away land (cheesy I know but literally sounds out of this world to me sometimes) Can't wait for more colour options for fonts, other than that these are perfect the way they are!!
I didn't get a set, but I grabbed the pack for they sell a few months ago and man, I'm absolutely love them. I love the completely unique sound they give and I love the weightiness of them.
those keycaps are super cool n sound great. ill for sure be picking up a set when they come out. who knows how many companies will start making this kind now also. sounds like a good time for all of us 😁
tight budget lately so i missed the early buy in price. Glad to see these were so well taken by the community! I shall hop in when a new design appeals to me!

Funny thing is, I found out about CeraKeys from a Facebook ad months ago and bought their R4 1u artisan in black and crazed just to see what's up. I was half expecting it to be a scam tbh. But when I got them they were surprisingly solid. I'm glad they've blown up now and I'm looking forward to getting a full set of crazed caps! I also dig the price point considering stuff like the Aluvia set was almost $400
The dice referance helped me understand and i just realised, Ilove the materal dice are made from. The sound they make when they bumb together along with the smooth touch are Chef's kiss
One of the the most premium-sounding keyboard builds I've seen. The caps may be pricey but they seem to be an effective solution to give a cheaper board a more premium sound. The only drawback was that the whole time I wish you had gone with legends on the caps since how good and permanent those are is what ceramic caps will live and die on. If they wash off fast ABS style they will be able to eke out a niche but they won't go mainstream.
Really not pricey. When u consider the material and process of making them. Its also unjustifiable to say that these are pricey when plastic keycaps are being sold from $150-$200
@@-father still pricey in a world where I consider those Plastic caps to be pricey too
i would totally play a 10 hour key tapping video to fall asleep to. this was really nice to my ears
The aqua sound nice and a quiet calm. I always love the linears for their softer sound
I built my very first custom mechanical keyboard 3 months ago out of that very same case! 2mm foam padding in the case with Gateron Black Linear switches. My spacebar though...sounds nothing like that. Those ceramic keycaps sound exquisite.
Gazzew Boba LT’s aren’t nearly as popular as the U4T’s, but they do retain the amazing performance Gazzew switches always have
Amazing sound, currently building my own keyboard
I absolutely loving it! Such a nice combo. Good choice on the switches
that spacebar sound is so unique, it’s like tapping on glass with a metal twig
my new favorite keycaps! if i ever can build my dream mechanical keyboard i'd definitely get these ones, they look like glass, they sound like you're typing on glass, and i bet the feel will be amazing in combination with the weight because i personally enjoy lighter weight keys.
i never was a fan of mechanical keyboards but the sound these make is so satisfiying. Awesome keycaps.
Finally found it in stock again and picked a pair up :D gonna put them on my newest Odin 75 build. Excited
Would you be able to replace the switch springs to compensate for the heavier keys?
yes ive actually got a ballpoint pen spring inside the switch for my capslock, makes it near impossible to press on accident they sell springs in different weights just for this, a pen spring is MUCH too stiff in a keyboard lol
@@WoodCutr1 Genius? I think so, lol. I like the idea
@@imalwaysthere921 it's working great so far, takes about 2 minutes to do it
No, springs are sodered onto the switches, and any attempt at removal would cause a nuclear explosion. Did you really ask if springs can be replaced? **smh**
I hope you are joking
It sounds great i know you wanted to do a sound test with the bobas but i think for this case of the heavier space bar it would have been nice if you did a separate sound test for it comparing it to a either a heavier linear switch or doing a temp spring swap with a heavier spring to combat the weight of the space bar to give us the true sound of it. Overall still love the sound of the other switches.
I saw that you were following them on Instagram so I was just waiting for you to make a video on these very excited for them. Hope they make an ortho set too.
I've received my set yesterday (black with legends) and I put the keycaps on today, I'm really appreciating them, it's like typing on a mug, the spacebar sound has improved by a LOT and they look quite sick IRL, I'm very satisfied so far. Now I hope that the legends won't shade away because they are like just printed on the keycaps I think, I mean you can't do dye sub or doubleshot with ceramic
Hey Samuele. I was looking into getting these caps with the legends on them. How well have yours faired? I can't find the option to choose the ones with numbers and letters. Thanks!
Omg it's like a modern typewriter. I actually kind of love it
Ceramics are generally made by taking mixtures of clay, earthen elements, powders, and water and shaping them into desired forms. Once the ceramic has been shaped, it is fired in a high temperature oven known as a kiln. Often, ceramics are covered in decorative, waterproof, paint-like substances known as glazes, thus creating keycaps that are making me moist.
I thought your profile picture was a piece of hair on the screen of my phone
This is beautiful! Something like this would definitely go with my galaxy theme
That's not quite the traditional o-ring mod, you usually use thinner o-rings on the screws to prevent contact between screw head and mounting post, but this alternative version is definitely interesting! Wonder how it affected the sound and feel
I think really cool key caps would be such that the characters only appear when the keyboard is backlit or on. When it's off, they just look blank.
These exist.
@@ameroshqiptar17 link?
Someone might know better than me: wouldn’t the heavier keys wear out the springs quicker? So you might get a quicker actuation for the cost of time-on-board?
Very smooth editing with the transparent key caps showing with switch was underneath.
Very satisfying clicky sound. I am thinking about playing the key stokes in a loop for an ambient back ground effect.
really like the ceramic keycaps shown here and desirability is REALLY high but... huge but: I must have shine through lettering. if they can pull that off, I'll pay whatever they ask for.
You must? For why?
I think its possible, but considering its ceramic, the letter spots needed to be thinned out to allow for the lights to shine through luminously
@@PatrickMHoey need to see the lettering in the dark
I really recommend using the Akko x TTC Demon switches, they’re really thoccy even unlubed.
Will it be thoccier when lubed and filmed
Keyboard sounds amazing. Love the ceramic click mix
ngl i really like the sounds of these keys, the space bar iLOVE the sound of, sounds like tapping something on glass and that really satisfies me
Hello Frank, I was wondering how you feel about the Everglide AquaKings. I've heard they have some pretty good stock batches and I didn't quite understood if yours was stock of lubed by loobed. I hope your kid is doing great, and have a nice weekend!
I’ve heard that they are great but a spring swap makes them even better, a bit pingy
It depends on the batch, some aqua king switches are over lubed, some are perfect. Its best to remove the factory lube and hand lube the switches so all switches have a consistent feel
In his gmmk pro video he said his thoughts
just ordered some off amazon. heaviest version 67g. if you want i'll update this comment in 2 days when i get them on whether they're good to go or I ended up spending 10 hours cleaning all the factory lube off and relubing them.
@@PabzRoz A bit late here but how did yours turn out?
These are amazing! I am currently building my "end game" keyboard and was looking for caps. These will due nicely.
"End game keyboard" That's what they all say
There is no such thing as an endgame keyboard. its just an endless money pit :(
Wow! I need this sound's 10 hour ASMR version!
I placed an order for a set of these for a very special mechanical keyboard, my Abkoncore AR87. An incredibly special keyboard, weighing in at nearly 7 pounds of machined aluminum, deserves incredibly special keycaps. So rather than using my all-stainless steel keycap set. Which were OEM Profile and didn't quite fit the style as this keyboard was really designed to be used with Cherry Profile. I went ahead with this instead! I'm extremely excited to be one of the first with an all-ceramic keycap set in exclusive Crazed Blue. In addition to the other mods I've got planned like soldering LEDs to backlight the keycaps etc. It'll be about as custom as it can get and incredibly rare, a crown jewel of a keyboard as it were, that'll be durable enough to last forever and something special I hope to pass down someday. They let me know since they got over 4,000 orders, they plan to get them all manufactured and shipped by August-October of this year!! May the Thock be with you.
"oops dropped my keyboard time to spend another 3000 dollars for new keycaps"
Love the ceramic keys. Love the sound w/ black switches. That space bar sound ….. crap!
the spacebar really do sound ceramic, i love it!
Amazing build! That’s like my dream keyboard 😍
Honestly sounded more rattly than thocky, of course the mic isn't always accurate, but if anyone wants something similar, my Tofu60 wooden case is crazy
They should sell the heavy spacebar as an option, the heavier weight should make it a lot deeper
The heavier spacebar was used in this build, and the spacebar is high pitched because of it.
@@UNeedDaBeef according to Keybored's talk with a sound engineer, more mass = deeper sound
@@S85B50Engine for it to be actually deeper it would need spacebar foam because it's so hollow, I think Divinikey sells some.
@@S85B50Engine And it doesn't have more mass, it's just heavier.
Would like to see you do a video on an old timey typewriter and tell us what you think 😊 maybe comparisons as well. Maybe a roots to progression a sort of thing. 💯
Do ceramic keycaps come in a low-profile form? Also, are they always smooth-surfaced or are there options that mimic a PBT surface?
Sounds more clacky than thocky to me, I definitely would not call that a deep tone. It's actually kind of fatiguing to listen to. That said I think the keycaps are cool.
I wouldn‘t really call this „thocky“. Sounds pretty clacky imo.
I love how keyboards have become an art form. It's a beautiful keyboard, my dude.
If those keycaps ever came in a shine through version, I’d throw so much money at them

Very satisfying sound when typing on those ceramic caps.
That space bar noise is actually really nice. It’s noticeably different and sound kind of like a typewriter
This spacebar noise is pretty sweet. Reminds me of a silenced weapon from some game, but I can't remember what it is exactly.
So clean. So thocc. Perfection
Can't think of anything worse for a long sweaty gaming session than having ceramic caps
Great video - what fps are you broadcasting at..? I am getting various frame rates on my counter - from 30 up to 140fps....?

my god those look like they feel incredible. would they be too heavy for simple mx browns?
This only reassured me getting gateron silent ink + ceramic

the aqua kins switches sound amazing!
itd be crazy if it had a raised letter on the lower side too. id love that
This board is sick, I might need to get a set of those keycaps now
wow, the boba LTs were perfect for this build; sick!
I HAVE THE SAME GENGAR TOY. lol i also bought it online because i was feeling nostalgic and it was my favorite Pokémon toy from when I was a kid. I can not believe how excited it made me to see the Gengar lol. but the one i have is glass (atleast feels like glass), which makes it feel substantial and not cheap like all the other plastic Pokémon/digimon toys i had. also, Gengar is one of my favorite Pokémon.
When u type fast it sounds really satisfying !!
I need a set of these... Like right now.. SHEESH.
I love the way this sounds 😳
I love how when you type it sounds kind of like building in a Lego video game

i ordered those keycaps. waiting for them now. I got them in black and with legends.
keybored also showed these! gotta love them
It sounds amazing!
Where did you get that glass gengar? I would be so happy if you or someone else could help me find that out. Also those keycaps sound so cool : - )
I have that resin case! In black, but it's fucking gorgeous. I did change out the feet on it though to some wider and softer silicone pads. I hadn't heard of the polyfill mod before but now I'm curious to try it. I'm just using the case foam that came with my DZ60 RGB. I'm also using lubed Kailh Speed Copper switches with a POM plate but have been wanting to try some Holy Pandas.
as a 4k mania player I'm curious about ceramic keycaps. i just wouldnt know where to start for switches because I was never up to date on the lingo. having a nice deep tap is good but as an experienced mania player, playing to a rhythm it can get very very loud on the keyboard. ive had my neighbors complain to me about the noise. so I'd rather it not sound like gunshots everytime I play my rhythm game. that and a shorter stroke is always welcome.
I love the sound!! My colleagues would despise me though 🤣
Great vid! Sounds great but definitely would call it major thock at least on laptop speakers lol.
You know, I haven't watched ANY keyboard nerd stuff because it's just not really been my thing as I don't use keyboards enough to get excited about them, but I was wrong. MAN it's satisfying to watch a keyboard go together with only the best components
I had 4 on my WASD keys, and I'd noticed after a while that W and A would begin to pop off of my switches with a quick enough press. Became annoying enough that I switched them back. I did however buy some super glue recently..
Wow. Those keys seem heavy. Rebound might be too slow if the spring is too weak - especially that space bar. I'd definitely try them with heavier springs.
i honestly like the sound of the spacebar
I REALLY want to hear this with ultra clicky switches like box jades.
DUDE THAT SOUND OMG
